The peaceful sounds of the ocean, birds, and the wind chimes are surpassed only by the spectacular 180 degree views of the ocean. This multi-unit bungalow accented with lots of old Hawaiian flair is located in a part of Hawaii that most visitors do not get to see. With floor to ceiling windows you will see what ever the ocean is offering. From the cliff side lanai watch the whales play with their newborns (December through April), the protected Hawaiian green sea turtle, dolphins, fishing boats, cruse ships, opihi (native shell fish) pickers, lobster hunters, rainbows, dramatic sunrises, and net fishing.
This property is the only one for miles with actual views of the water breaking on the shore and with access to the shore line. From the master studio and the one bedroom unit you can see all the way to Hilo and south to Kapoho. When it is clear you can also see the often snow-topped Mauna Kea.
We are located in a private subdivision amongst beautiful upscale homes. Within three minutes you can drive to ancient Hawaiian burial grounds. Just beyond you will be on your way to Kapoho and Vacation Land for unsurpassed swimming, snorkeling and sight seeing. Further down the "red road" you will come across the famous geo-thermo hot ponds. Go swimming in the volcanically heated ponds where warm fresh waters meet the sea and feel safe under the watchful eye of the life guards. Shower off in fresh water and move on down the road to Pohiki where the locals launch boats, swim, picnic, and surf.
A few more miles down the rolling country road enjoy swimming with dolphins at Kahena, join in with the drum circle or just soak in the unbelievable paradise that surrounds you! Climb back up the cliff and back on the road your on your way to old Kalapana. Here you will see what the lava did not destroy when it last came through this area.
Visit Uncle Roberts, next to Verna’s Restaurant and take the walking tour. See the photos of the flow, the moving of the historical "painted church" and the site of what was Hawaii’s most famous black sand beach. Now connect from Kalapana to the highway and your on your way to our historic village of Pahoa. Pahoa has a colorful past and present. Choose from many great restaurants of all types. Do your banking, go to the post office, shop for gifts, and wonderful island clothing.
