SOPHRONIA COTTAGE sits on the banks of Bear Creek and has a beautifully treed front lawn with volleyball net, bonfire area w/picnic table, and tree swing. The cottage sleeps 4 adults with a queen size bed in the bedroom and a sleep sofa in the great room. Electric baseboard heat, a gas fireplace in the bedroom, and air conditioning keeps the cottage comfortable year-round. Sophronia also has a relaxing four person Hot Tub on the bedroom deck! The kitchen is fully furnished and has an electric range w/oven, microwave, coffee-maker, toaster, refrigerator, and a full size washer/dryer. The full bath has a shower and all bath and bed linens are provided. The front porch has a pair of adirondack chairs and makes a great place to observe the birds in the feeder or relax during a summer rain shower. We also make available to our guests, by scheduled appointment, a relaxing in cottage therapeutic massage!

The lake at Green Valley is stocked with Bass, Bluegill, Catfish,& Rainbow Trout and provides many opportunities for outdoor fun. Row boating, fishing, relaxing on the dock, or strolling in the moonlight, make the lake one of our guests favorite locations! We also have several clearly marked hiking trails that take you beneath tall white pines, along Bear Creek, or through acres of white oak forest.
Another great thing about Green Valley is our location. We are only 3hrs from Pittsburgh, 2 hrs from D.C./Balti. area, 2 hrs. from Harrisburg, Pa., 5 hrs. from New York City, 4 hrs. from Philadelphia, Pa., 4 hrs. from Richmond, Va., and though our cottages are secluded, everything is nearby!

From Our Guest books at Green Valley: March 30, 2005 It's a lovely, cool, sunny day in our charming woodland retreat. Once, many years ago, I owned a cabin in the woods in Md. and had to give it up for many reasons. I dream of it still. This cottage reminds me of all the best memories of my early adulthood. So quiet, so tranquil. This is a blessed, enchanted place, out of time. My husband and I and our small dog, all enjoy the natural setting. We hope to return soon. Thank you, for sharing the magic with us. It's almost time to return home, but I will keep Green Valley in my heart, comforted by knowing it is here waiting for our return again in the near future. The lake, the woods, the creek, the bluebirds, all the creatures of the forest...We have found and experienced a profound peace here...enjoyed by the three of us...such comfort, so much lovliness, we are grateful for this discovery....Until we meet again. We get to share our 3rd stay at Green Valley with our 11 month old son. Nothing compares to seeing a child discover all that this world has to offer. I can't wait until he is old enough to go running through the woods with his old man. This place truly has become a safe haven in our busy lives. I hope everyone that comes to Green Valley finds the peace that we have here. It's nice to know that in a world that moves far to quickly, there is still a place where time stands still.
