Beautiful home on lovely San Juan Island

This house is even nicer than it looks in the pictures. Everything about it is comfortable and welcoming. We had 4 adults and 4 children (ages 6-9yrs) and had more than enough space. It was wonderful to be able to let the children play outside in the yard. Be aware there is a drop off of about 20 feet at the edge of the yard. We just gave the kids a landmark not to go past and it was no problem. The rooms are huge (especially the downstairs living room - much bigger than it looks here) and beautifully decorated. Everything about this house is high-end. I could move in without changing a thing! The kitchen is FULLY stocked...we even made waffles. There is a gas grill and the hot tub was easy to use. This house has so many nice touches, I can't mention them all. Doug was easy to work with and made us feel very comfortable. San Juan Island is fabulous! Before going on a whale watching trip, go to Lime Kiln Park and see them off shore. If they are there, you get much closer and it's not so cold. It was better viewing than on the boat. I can't recomend this property enough. We can't wait to return.

Thanks, Doug. We had a wonderful time on San Juan Island, and you are right -- as beautiful as they are, the pictures posted on the VRBO website don't begin to do the house justice. You and Susan and your team did an amazing job -- every detail of the house is perfect, and the view is nothing short of spectacular. I'm astounded that you can tear yourself away from the paradise you've created to head back to the real world! On this trip we saw eagles, seals, porpoises, a camel (that was a surprise), alpacas, the exotic animals visible on the island across the sound (gazelles? antelope? big horn sheep?), dairy cows, cattle, and deer -- not bad for a weekend on an island without a zoo and within the boundaries of the continental US. The only regret we had is that we had to leave so early to make the 4:00 boat By the way, Mary and Barbara were delightful -- they were most welcoming, and helped us get into the Duck Soup Inn for dinner just under the wire on the night we arrived. November 12, 2004 Had a wonderful Mother& Daughters getaway on the Island. After enjoying the shops of Friday Harbor we had a delicious lunch at Downriggers. We arrived at your home and were imediately taken with the view. The "Spyglass" was wonderful to have. we also loved the decor - even down to the sheets! Everything was convenient & well equipped. November 27, 2004 We spent a wonderful Thanksgiving here at Spyglass! We were here with our family and love the hot tub, view, seal, eagles and what an amazing place! You could sit all day and look out at the view. Thank You! The Cook Hastings Burnett Smith Family
