our stay was awesome! we loved the condo. it was very clean and modern and being on the ground floor made it even better! the grounds are beautifully kept and everybody was very helpful and friendly. we enjoyed our morning coffee and evening wine at tables by the beach and chatting with the locals. we loved the quaint haleiwa town, dinner/lunch at the local restaurants, the infamous snow cones, delicious sweets and coffee at the coffee gallery, and the evening sunsets were amazing! i hope this condo is available on our next trip!!! Live Aloha!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My husband and I arrived and first impressions the unit itself was in pretty good shape and clean, being so close to the ocean objects get rusted very easily but it's no big deal, just an esthetic. The bedroom, the owners things were in their closet (the only closet in the unit) so we had no where to put and hang our things. No dressers or drawers (except for a tiny side table) so we had to keep our clothes in our suitcase on the floor, for the 10 days. The bedroom is VERY rudimentary. They really need to invest in a few bucks to update and reconfig that bedroom to make it more useful. Kitchen had the basics but the unit itself had NO table and chairs...the small lanai had a few cheapy, green plastic chairs and a pretty useless glass top end table. Really frustrating, if you wanted to play cards or eat a meal, you did it on your lap. The binder is also pretty useless, tells you all the rules and regs...don't care...and a copy of the rental agreement...don't care...but really useful info, like the code for the laundry room for example...nothing. (I added a page with some of that info in it for future renters.) My biggest problem was with the fact that WE had to go out and buy more toilet paper, paper towel, tin foil and baggies. This isn't my first condo rental...they usually make sure supplies are topped up for the next guests...I shouldn't have to pay for these things that are going to be used by the next renters. The manager there is called "condo-nazi" by other permenant residents I talked to...we were talking at the picnic table at the ungodly hour of 10:30pm and I walked 10 feet away and you couldn't hear a thing over the pounding surf right beside us but she must have been watching and out she goosestepped to tell us to be quiet. Besides these issues, the location was fantastic, we walked to the "main strip", we walked the beach on both sides every morning and saw beautiful sunsets at night. While we were there they were building a new shared bbq, looked like it was going to be awesome when ready to go. Would I rent there again? No Would I still have rented there knowing what I know...probably not that unit because of the lack of closet space and no table and chairs but probably would another unit.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: The manager referred to here is not the condo manager (myself), but the complex manager, who at 10:30 at night was probably trying to keep things quiet for the other guests who were trying to sleep. I think most guests would think this was a good thing! As for other comments about the condo itself (aside from the complex comments) we welcome input and will consider the suggestions. We have made more room in the closet. The laundry combo was in Lesly's arrival instructions, and she did have the usual starter supplies of toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, etc as is standard for these condos.

Aloha. My husband and I recently celebrated our 40 anniversary and he surprised me with a trip to Hawaii. He took care of all the arrangements with the manager of the property that we stayed in Haleiwa Surf. Since we have never been to Hawaii, I was a bit nervous....but, once we arrived, I have to say that my fears were quickly set aside. The place was absolutely charming. Cosy, clean, and very easy to settle into. We were right on the beach and watched sunsets every night, we even saw a turtle sleepin on our beach! My husband rented some paddleboards from a friend of the manager, and they showed us how to use them. I'm not the athletic type, but this was such fun! We walked the beach every morning, had lots of shops and restaurants all around us, so we didn't have to drive much, and woke up every morning with the Hawaiian sunshine in our cosy cottage on the shore! Life dosen't get better than this. I just finally had some time to write and thank you for taking the time to help my husband to arrange our anniversary vacation. It was the trip of a lifetime. He feels so happy about it, and I'm in love all over again! This was the Hawaii we hoped for, and it was even better than that. We'll definitely come back to this one again. Aloha, Mr. and Mrs. Robert K. Young from May, 2012 vacationRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We were really excited about staying here, but when we entered the condo and saw the dirty cinderblock walls in the foyer, missing grout in the tile, and the stained office grade carpet in the bedroom we felt like leaving (the smelly towels didn’t help either). There were a couple of stains in the bedroom carpet; one of them matched a cockroach that ran across it the first night (that’s probably how the stain got there, splat). It was not a quiet building, we heard the upstairs residents regularly, and heard the next door neighbor deflate each evening. Because of no A/C and the bedroom windows opened up to the walkway and parking lot, there is very little privacy. The beach and snorkeling were very good. The kitchen and living area were generally nice, as the pictures show, but why did they use curtains that are one foot too short? What upset us most was the morning we had no water. A neighbor needed a new water heater; the plumber had to turn off the water to the ENTIRE complex. We called the listing agent, she said she’d gotten an e-mail notification earlier that day from the president of the homeowner’s association and the water would be off for about an hour (that would have been nice to know). The plumber said it would be more like 2-4 hours. The agent said it was “out of her control, nothing she could do” and suggested we take showers on the beach. We decided to run errands, when we called her back after a couple hours to see if it was safe to return to the condo, she said she had no idea and no way of finding out; and again, “out of her control, nothing she could do”. It turns out there hasn’t been a manager onsite for a couple months and she didn’t have the phone number for the president of the homeowner’s association. She’s a realtor; she either has everyone’s phone number or knows how to get it, but she wasn’t pro-active or very apologetic about it.Owner response: I am sorry these guests did not enjoy this unit---we have lots of very satisfied, happy guests. This man did not call about any issues other than the water shut off, so I am surprised that he would write it here in a public forum, rather than coming to me with any issues like noisy neighbors, etc., so that I could address them immediately, and I do think he embellished his comments. I have contacted him since and have discussed with him the various issues and how the lack of communication during his stay was not helpful for prompt problem solving. We do take customer satisfaction very seriously. As to the water shut off, it does happen once every few months, when another unit needs a new water heater, etc. Most guests are having so much fun in Hawaii that they don't mind and are flexible about small inconveniences, it was not off for very long.
