At 7300 feet, Green Valley Lake is the highest community in Southern California...w/6-10 FEET OF SNOW annually!! GREAT sledding, just WALK out our cabin door to the NATIONAL FOREST to endless hills during Winter. A short drive to SNOW VALLEY & SNOW SUMMIT. Walk to the LAKE too! Leave your car parked once you're here ! Peace and solitude, without the crazy crowds.

Charming Master Bedroom w/private bath, tongue and groove cedar throughout. Cozy upstairs bedroom & loft. A COVERED DECK overlooks the National Forest...add our new 'HOT TUB', and you will never want to come back inside!! Washer and Dryer. Kitchen with ALL the amenities. Forced air heating warms cabin very quickly. A warm cozy wood-burning fireplace. Start the fire easily with a the turn of the key.
DON'T WORRY - We're not like the other cabins with NO linens, sheets, etc... WE HAVE LINENS, SHEETS, TOWELS, and EVERYTHING you need to enjoy you stay!! (You deserve to be pampered !!)

What a delight this cabin was! Right on the edge of the National Forest, with sledding hills right in the backyard. Green Valley Lake is "off the beaten path", with just one tiny general store and one or two local cafes. (We brought all of our food, so we didn't eat out at all). We could go out and play in the snow with the kids, then run inside for meals, bathroom trips, or to warm up little toes. We loved all of the wood and the stone fireplace. The hot tub was a bit hit, especially for our 2 and 5 year old. Everything was spotless and in good working order. Nothing luxurious, but tastefully done and very cozy. The owner is thorough in providing helpful information, house rules, etc. ahead of time. They like to keep their home neat and ask that visitors respect a "shoes off" policy, something not hard for us, as we do this at our home, too. One caveat, the 2nd upstairs bedroom is a loft and there is no door: This meant for very early mornings for my sister and brother-in-law, as the kids woke up early each day and the sound travels a bit in upstairs. We would definitely consider staying here again. Great spot for a family trip or a romantic getaway.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Dear Toni, Bill & Makena: We want to thank you again for letting us use your beautiful cabin. We spent a really nice time there together. Your cabin is well maintained, clean and very cozy. We felt very comfortable, just like home. Both nights we sat in front of the fireplace playing games and drinking hot tea. When we arrived and opened the door of our car, there was nothing but the wind, birds and silence. We found ourselves surrounded by peace. We went up the little trail and were surprised to find such an amazing view. Later, Luna and I went up there again to watch the sunset together. The next day we went to Big Bear Lake for a hike and to have lunch. Everything was just breathtaking, even the drive to get there. In the afternoon we took a walk to Green Valley Lake. What a beautiful place. And then the next morning Luna and I went skiing! You did not only give us your cabin, you gave three generations, the gift of unforgettable memories. We had an incredible stay at their cabin. We planned a last minute get away for Christmas and fortunately they had a cancelation. We also lucked out that there was tons of snow on the ground, and that it snowed while we were there. Which was exactly what we were hoping for. The home was beautiful, clean and cozy. We loved the carpet just like everyone else. Our three year old twins loved playing in the snow and my husband and I loved watching them. The fireplace and jacuzzi were highlights. We all enjoyed the location, being away from the crowds yet not too far of a drive once reaching the mountain. The town was sweet, (small), and very welcoming. We loved being tucked away. Our favorite part of the entire trip was hiking through the snow, to the peak of the mountain...which was basically their backyard...and seeing the beautiful vistas. I can only imagine that summer time would be just as beautiful. Love, love, love the location. Having only amazing mountain views while enjoying the jacuzzi was a nice ending. We hope to return. It would be hard to choose any other place when visiting Big Bear. Thanks!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

What a geat location! We really enjoyed being able to walk outside and go sledding in such a beautiful enviornment. The cabin is so cozy and comfortable. We were lucky enough to have it snow during our stay which is exactly what our twin daughers wanted for their birthday. We'd love to visit again.Thank youDid you find this review helpful? Thank you so much for a wonderful weekend. Your cozy cabin was so much more than we've come to expect from the Big Bear area. It was so clean, bright, spacious and modern! We played Yahtze on the kitchen table and then went for a hike out the side door. My baby is just learning to crawl and the nice soft carpets were perfect for him. We had a wonderful & funfilled Christmas (Dec 2007) in your beautiful cabin in Green Valley Lake! Your cabin was so warm & cozy and very nicely decorated! The fireplace was our favorite thing, along with the hot tub. The big kitchen filled with everything we needed, was just perfect to fix our Turkey & Ham Christmas Dinner. We love the warm carpet & made sure all who entered took off their shoes! You two have really done a great job decorating & filling the cabin with lots of "extras". Dear Bill & Toni, Dan & I just returned home today after a wonderful & funfilled Christmas in your beautiful cabin in Green Valley Lake! We can't tell you how much this trip meant to us. My whole family was able to come (some in the other cabin) & share Christmas together. You cabin was so warm & cozy and very nicely decorated! Who does all the painting? So beautiful. The fireplace was our favorite thing, along with the hot tub. The big kitchen filled with everything we needed, was just perfect to fix our Turkey & Ham Christmas Dinner. We love the warm carpet & made sure all who entered took off their shoes! You two have really done a great job decorating & filling the cabin with lots of "extras". You have truly gone "above & beyond" for your guests. We even used the highchair! We so enjoyed our time in Applehead's Cabin & hope to be able to return one day soon! Thank you for letting us stay. Hi Bill, Just wanted to write and tell you how much we enjoyed our stay in your beautiful place. We were all very pleasantly surprised as how inviting and comfortable you place is. I applaud you on your organization to keep the place nice. It seemed very easy. The front and back porch worked great for the snowy boots and wet doggie feet. My brother's and my family stayed in early March 06 and had a perfect time. The cabin was even better than the inviting pictures. We were the only cabin habitated on the street, played in the snow and hiked to the ridge.. beautiful! One morning heard and then saw a small pack of coyotes trekking through the snow!
