Trout Stream Cabin! 3/3 - Hot Tub, Internet, Pool Table!
Year Purchased: 2010
Why the Owner Chose Ellijay
Even before we moved to North Georgia in 2003, we have enjoyed hiking and fishing in the beautiful areas around our cabin. The year round trout streams and mountain trails through rare virgin forests offer endless opportunities to spend quality time with family, reconnecting with nature and with each other. We have a goal of hiking the Appalachian Trail someday, so the trails around our cabin are a great place for us to train!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Having a year round trout stream right in the back yard of our cabin is like a dream come true. Fishing with the kids right at the cabin is awesome! Our teenage sons make full use of the huge terrace level game room with the pool table, ping pong table, and video game system too! They have their own space to enjoy with friends and they never complain that "this is boring"! We look forward to enjoying the cabin for years to come and to sharing the cabin with others who are looking to create lasting memories with their friends and family too.
This great hiking trail is a loop trail through some rare virgin forest with multiple stream crossings. Visit www.tripleblaze.com for more info
This mountain biking trail is for advanced mountain bikers. Learn more at www.ridemonkey.com!
The Square in Historic Ellijay is filled with southern charm. Spend the day browsing through the quaint antique shops and specialty shops. Don't forget to stop in at one of the local restaurants for a leisurely meal or a scoop of ice cream. See www.gilmerchamber.com for a list of events and festivals in Ellijay.
Spend a day with an experienced fishing guide at Reel 'em In Guide service, then practice your newly aquired fly casting skills right in our cabin's back yard. Go to www.reeleminguideservice.com for more info!
Rolling Thunder River Company offers river-tubing, kayaking, and canoeing adventures that is fun for the whole family! www.rollingthunderriverco.com
The folks at the Cartecay River Experience offer river-tubing, kayaking, and guided river tours for the whole family, and they are right here in Ellijay! Check them out at www.cartecayriverexperience.com
North Georgia’s hidden gem is a public golf course located 5 miles north of Ellijay. Whitepath Golf Club is truly a golf enthusiast's dream. Beautiful rolling terrain and long range views of the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains and the Cohutta Wilderness make this course one of the most enjoyable and picturesque golf courses in North Georgia. www.whitepathgolfclub.net
Amicalola, a Cherokee Indian word meaning “tumbling waters,” is an appropriate name for these 729-foot falls ~~ the tallest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River. An 8.5-mile approach trail leads from the park to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the famed 2,135-mile Appalachian Trail. Don't miss taking a day trip out to Amicalola Falls!
Situated in the Chattahoochee National Forest close to the Cohutta Wilderness area, this park offers a variety of outdoor activities. Hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders will find some of the most beautiful trails in northern Georgia. Most wind through hardwood forest and blueberry thickets, occasionally crossing streams and providing spectacular vistas. During the summer, children will enjoy the sand beach located on a clear mountain lake, as well as miniature golf and pedal boats.
Owner's Map of Ellijay
We are Roy and Jan. We have lived in North Georgia since Roy was transferred to the area in 2003. We love living in North Georgia. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home! We've loved fishing and hiking the Cohutta Wilderness area trails and trout streams with our sons and our dog Chester. After living in South Florida for 20 years, we really appreciate and enjoy watching the seasons change.

We have been renting cabins since 2001 and this is by far the best one we have ever been to! We had everything we needed and more already supplied for us there, making it stress free and relaxing! The view and the sound of the stream was beautiful and we actually caught 7 fish! The ones that weren't fishing got to watch from the gorgeous deck that looked directly down to the stream. Everything was amazing and the owners made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back again next year around this time! We all had an incredible adventure!
Owner response:Thank you Debbie. I'm so glad you guys were able to catch some fish! Thanks for the beautiful table runner that you left as a gift for the cabin. We love it! It's so nice when folks leave a little piece of themselves at the cabin for future guests. Thanks again for your thoughtfulness and for choosing our cabin for your getaway weekend!

This was a return visit for us to this wonderful cabin. It feels like home, not a rental. It's the best cabin we have ever visited. The privacy and the beautiful, rocky mountain stream make for a truly relaxing get away, and the hospitality from Jan and Roy could not have made us feel more at home. Some previous guests had mentioned that they found a gold nugget while panning for gold in the stream, so we tried our luck this time and had great fun, but found no gold. Maybe next time. The pure gold moments for me were while warming my feet by the fire pit in the evening with the family.
Owner response:Thanks for your kind comments Sally. I'm so glad you all had a nice time. Looking forward to your next visit!

First visit to the Ga Mts. and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit at this cabin. First experience with VRBO and I must say I was quite impressed. The owners made us feel relaxed and eager to share their cabin with us. The Cabin was just as advertised, very relaxing and enjoyable weekend. The weekend flew by and my wife is already planning on a return visit to this cabin. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to visit and share the beautiful stream and peacefulness of your place.
Owner response:Thanks so much, Bob! We are thrilled that your stay at our cabin was as relaxing and enjoyable as you had hoped! Can't wait for you guys to visit again soon.

We stayed in the cabin for the weekend and it was amazing. You can hear the creek below from the deck and it was so relaxing. The cabin was clean and well stocked and we had everything that we needed. There was more than enough space. It was also an easy drive into the property. My only regret is that I wish I had stayed longer. I hope that I get to return soon. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience.
Owner response:Thank you Jody! I'm glad you guys had a nice time. Your only regret is the same as ours, we never want to leave either! Thank you again for your wonderful comments.

This property was awesome. It had everything it listed and the photos were recent and accurate. It was very clean and well stocked on kitchen wear. It even had firewood for the fireplace and fire pit. The hot tub was clean and new. It was ready to be used and very spacious. It also has a nice ping pong table. I would absolutely recommend it!!!

Wow! What a peaceful, restful, fun-filled weekend! I loved the sound of the river and the sights and smells of the mountain and the 8 rocking chairs and the hot tub and the HUGE decks and the firepit next to the river and the game room. Very thoughtfully appointed (the dogs really enjoyed the chew toys), comfortable, and spacious house with tons of usable indoor and outdoor space, and such an easy 90 minute drive from Atlanta. The house was immaculately kept, the beds were really comfortable and the linens and towels were extra soft. The rocking chairs on the porches got LOTS of use. It was kind of like being a kid in a really decked out treehouse. I recommend this property wholeheartedly without reservation! Thanks:)
Owner response:Thank you so much for your very kind comments!!! I'm so happy that you all enjoyed your weekend at the cabin. It really is a pleasure to share it with wonderful folks like you!

We hated to leave on check out day. We loved this cabin. It has everything as described and more. We wanted to stay forever. Everything was wonderful, both inside and outside of the cabin. The big, rocky, noisy stream was the highlight of the place for me. I could sit and read by that stream for days. I fished a little and did catch a couple trout, one big one! We were very happy to have found this great cabin and are already planning our next visit.
Owner response:Thank you! Glad you were able to catch some fish! We stocked the stream in April and have been so happy to see that the stream is the perfect natural habitat for beautiful browns and rainbows. Thanks again for your kind comments. We look forward to your next visit to Rushing Waters Escape!

We absolutely loved this cabin. We had such a lovely, relaxed time to catch up among 4 dear friends. Everything you could possibly need was there. The decks are fabulous...we stayed in our p.j's until 3pm one day just sitting on the fabulous porch rocking & reminiscing. The fire pit by the river was so beautiful at night (bring a starter log)...we sat down there way too late, but just couldn't leave it! This experience from inquiry to check out could not have been more pleasant! Thank you for sharing this haven...we will definitely be back...you will not be disappointed!! THANKS
Owner response:Thank you so much Nancy! It is an absolute pleasure to share the cabin with folks like you who love it as much as we do. So glad you enjoyed it. We look forward to your next visit!

The cabin suited us very well and was clean. The owner was helpful and honest. She responded quickly to all our questions. Our group included two young children, my sister, my brother, and my husband and me. We traveled 15 hours to get to the cabin and it was worth it. We wanted somewhere quiet, but not boring. The cabin was suited for lazy afternoons reading or actively exploring the trails. The children enjoyed the large porch where we could let them play under the trees. Supervised hikes were perfect for the four-year-old. The sleeping accommodations worked well; every family member had his/her own space. There were baby gates available to protect the toddler from the stairs. The kitchen was well stocked and the grill was clean. There was a nice selection of games and even a toddler puzzle. Anything we didn't find, we could easily get at the stores in Ellijay. Ellijay was perfect for restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, urgent care, and doing some shopping in the little stores. It is close enough to be convenient to the cabin. This was the perfect family vacation. We cannot wait to return. As our children age, there are plenty of activities to take advantage of in addition to everything we enjoyed this visit.

Wow! We loved the cabin. There were two couples with us. Plenty of room for everyone, great setting. Love the rushing waters, cabin is aptly named. You cannot be stressed in this cabin. The place was clean and well stocked in the kitchen. Will definitely return. My wife says she's bringing her yoga mat next time to have the maximum zen experience. Great hiking trails nearby, cool town square in Ellijay, good grocery store that owner recommended. Don't think this place could be any better for someone who's looking to get away from it all! We were not ready to leave on the checkout date.
