An Absolutely Perfect Home in Gordes!

My wife and I spent a special week in this wonderful home in early June. Everything about our experience was perfect. The home is located within walking distance of the beautiful and historic center of Gordes. The home is quite private, and sits behind a gated entry on a charming rural lane. The stone home with a soft red tiled roof is just what one congers up when thinking of an ideal Provencal residence. It is furnished with antiques and art that has carefully been collected by the owners. It looks out onto the beautiful Luberon valley. The owners, Eric and Jean, were the best! They truly went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and they were available during our entire stay to give advice on touring nearby towns, finding excellent restaurants, and suggesting places to visit in the Provencal countryside that we otherwise would not have found on our own. So, on the bottom line, I can recommend this home for your next visit to Provence without reservation!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Magic ! The Stone House in Gordes is a great place to stay and from which to explore all the places around the Luberon and Provence. It is in the center of a very superbe area, so you can all the time drive around and discover every village or countrysides. This means great views across the valley, but also means it is a very authentic experience. You are amongst homes typical of the region, friendly locals and great food. The all House is well furnished and comfortable. It offers the magic view to the Luberon On the terrass, we where lying down and looking at the extraordinary views on the other side is both captivating and relaxing. Eric and Jean have done an outstanding job in creating a welcoming and homey place. And their hospitality is exceptional. The day we arrived we had one of those travel experiences that included no sleep for over 20 hours. Fatigued and 'not with it', we rang Eric for some help. He rushed over and did everything ... welcomed us, moved us in! On the table we found lots of present with fresh fruits, champagne, wine, cakes, and a card with our names, telling us how welcome we were ! That makes it all ! He left shortly after promising to come back the next day and explain all that one can do and visit in the region. The next day that is exactly what he did. You just cannot say enough about such service and hospitality. Gordes is a wonderful place to visit, the Stone House is a lovely home and your hosts will ensure you feel welcome and get the most out of your holiday. La vie est belle ! The Stone House is a wonderful property in the most beautiful location within walking distance of the village of Gordes. Amazing views from the house and gardens and the highest standard of comfort and decor in the house. The owners Jean and Eric were great hosts, quietly in the backround but always helpful and charming when we needed information or help. It was so easy to walk into the center of Gordes in the morning ! The pool area is very nice ! We just want to come back as soon as possible ! Pat (Charlestown, RI Usa) This house and its surrounding property is so beautiful, we were thrilled when we arrived for our first visit. We have since returned two more times and each time, we havd a wonderful time. The pool and outdoor patio are wonderful and very relaxing. The second building with its upstairs sitting room was new for us last year and we really enjoyed sitting up there, reading, playing cards and listening to music. The kitchen is fully equipped and very modern. Everything about the property is wonderful, but best of all are the owners, Eric and Jean, who welcomed us into their home and did everything they could, each time, to make our vacation the best. The decor of course, with the beautiful antiques and art work, just made everything better! We cannot wait to return! C'est Magnifique !Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Claudia et Uli.. (Dortmund, Germany ) When we rented the house for the first time last year we were greeted by Eric and Jean- the nicest landlords we have met; and we have rented often. They welcomed us with some nicely arranged products from Provence; during the time of our stay the front door name tag had our names on it; you cant feel more at home during your vacations! The house is wonderfully located with stunning views on the area of Gordes, meticulously kept and tastefully furnished and has every comfort you need. The garden offers different relaxing seating opportunities with views - one more beautiful than the next ( and even better than the pictures): a winter garden with a small pond in front of it, where you can sit protected when it is chilly or windy ; a terrace for long leisurely breakfast and dinners, the pool area, different benches for reading, dreaming and enjoying the soothing, wonderful garden…. The two weeks were a real pleasure!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a really lovely week in Gordes, and it is so depressiing to return home and this awful weather in London ! The "Tour des Beaumes" was so lovely and so convenient to explore the entire region. The Tower itself is just special, the garden, the pool, the furniture, the "Charm". Romantic ! You feel good there ! The information, hints and tips you gave us were all spot on, and we found the Tower so easily. Eric and Jean were fab - they welcome us so nicely as we arrived ! We explored the whole region - such pretty places. We used the car but did a lot of nice walks around, and every morning to Gordes centre ! Gordes is and ideal base with such a lovely rental, shopping centre, the private pool and of course the old tower itself. Our week went too quickly and I am sure we will return in the future! Many thanks once again for your help and advice and of course for the lovely touches in the Tower that made it so comfortable. Sharon and Paul Grey London UKDid you find this review helpful? The Stone House in Gordes is an ideal place to stay when visiting the Luberon. We have returned for 6 years and next year we will come back again. It is unusual in our experience to come back in the same place ! The huge decoration with excellent taste, the light in the house, the confort, and it is so clean with the great housekeeper coming 3 times a week to take very good care of the House. But the Stone House is so unique and so close to Gordes, just 5 minutes walk and yet you are secluded with your own pool with pool house and a magical garden and small olive grove for just for yourself to enjoy. After a morning stroll up to Gordes to pick up a baguette and croissants we an return and enjoy your breakfast on the terrace with the wonderful view of the Luberon. Equally it is a peaceful and relaxing place to sit and watch the stars at night before retiring. On every Sunday morning there is an excellent Farmers Market in nearby Coustellet, a short drive down the hill from The House. There is also a very good restaurant, la Coquillade, not far from Gordes. The sunday market in Coustellet, where we can get a very good, inexpensive, set your lunch menu. There are endless walks from the Tower up through a remote valley to Senanque Abbey. History lovers can go down the valley to see the Bories and caves, all of the footpaths are clear and well marked. Historic Avignon is only 35 minute drive away. If we wish to go further a visit to Aix is a must, as is Cassis. Here are some practical considerations. The place is spotless and Eric and Jean, the owners, are kind and generous hosts, nothing is too much trouble. Every year we have returned, there has been something added or improved. Over the years we have stayed at many houses all over France, but the Stone House is unique. It is the only place where the owners have asked at the end of our stay whether there were any improvements we should like to see for the next year. They are really listenning to their guest, but the confort is perfect already, nothing to add really ! This year we are staying in the Stone House for three weeks which says it all. We can recommend highly, but please keep 3 weeks for us ! A Bientot et merci beaucoup !Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Lovely stay in the Stone House in Gordes ! It is a corner of Paradise in Provence ! We stayed in this gorgeous Stone House in Gordes. We found it very hard to tear ourselves away the great pool and summerhouse even though we were surrounded by lots of charming little villages to visit nearby. The House had every convenience necessary and was immaculate. Totally recommended! We loved it ! Judith and Peter London, UKRecommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.
