My friends and I had a great time at the darling house over Thanksgiving.Although some of my friends found the house to be hounted (lol) I slept soundly every night.I loved the big backyard and the bikes available too. This house was the most equipped both in Kitchen and bathroom.I don't think you can consider the room with the futon a bedroom. It's too small and anybody who dares sleep on that futon will wake up very achy all over...Also,the stairs are very slippery.we had 2 adults,2 children and a dog fall down it.

We had a wonderful week at the Darling House. The layout was perfect for our two families with small children and had every amenity including lots of books and videos for everyone. We went in February and the house was always warm and cozy and the backyard was perfect for our 7 year olds to sled. The house was also very clean, beds were comfortable, and there was more than enough of everything (including towels, bowls/plates/flatware) so that we felt very much at home from the first day.
Owner response:We try hard to make our homes family friendly and to make sure you have a memorable getaway! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

My family and I recently stayed at this property after researching many homes and we definitely were not disappointed! The house was perfect for get-togethers as it has an open layout throughout the dining room and living room. Everything was clean and well maintained. I was initially worried about heating issues that were reviewed poorly by another renter however we had absolutely no problems with heat on any floor of the home. The weather was quite cold a few days however we stayed warm inside both day and night. The only recommendation is to bring a safety gate for the stairs if you have small children. We plan to return to this home each year that we visit the Berkshires!

Thank you! Your house in Williamstown worked out perfectly. Great location. I was able to walk to the Clark and to and from the theatre. The weather cooperated fairly well. Only a couple of activities were rained out. And soccer camp was a hit!

We rented this house for one-week, to use as a base for skiing - it's central to several ski areas within 20-60 minute drive times. Upon arrival we quickly realized that the 2nd floor, where the bedrooms are located, was without heat - no heat of any kind. That would not have been so bad, but the only thermostat, of course located on the first floor, was computer controlled and constantly reset the temperature to 65, 68 or an inhospitable 50 degrees in the middle of the night. This of course caused the 2nd floor to remain far colder than desired or necessary. Based on this I would not suggest that children stay here during the winter. If they do not remain undercover while sleeping they will get very, very cold. And finally, it is very close to the road, which is a main route for the area. There is only room for one car in the driveway, though two might fit in the absence of snow. Pluses: It is a quaint house indeed and does have a very nice, large backyard. Overall it was cleaner than some other rentals - we usually spend the first 2-3 hours cleaning any rented house. Gladly this was not necessary here. Our dogs enjoyed the home and property. I am certain it is quite attractive during the summer season, though without air conditioning renters may experience the opposite of the above described malady. In summary the location is very good, as Williamstown is the essence of bucolic New England. If you wish to drive the Mohawk Trail, then this is an excellent starting point. There are some great eateries within only a few minutes drive. Gala, located in The Orchard Hotel was sublime, with a great wine list too. Happy travels to all!

Thanks again for a wonderful few days in Williamstown. We didn't even mind the rain- your sunroom is the perfect place to get lost in a good book. I'm sure we'll be back next year.

Enjoyed our daughter's graduation from Williams College. Made especially easy and relaxing by being within walking distance of the commencement. The house was perfect, with enough sleeping for all and a kitchen fully outfitted. Thanks much Margaret & Bill
