Our terrace is one of the largest and most elegant in the old part of Cannes. Excellent stay in October 2011

This apartment was just perfect for my wife and I. The place is in front of all the things that are happening in Cannes. If your loking for a place that has the old charm in an area with the real people this is it. My first morning I awoke very early and walked around the corner to find one of the most amazing huge farmers markets loaded with fresh vegatables, meats and fruits that I would have never believed could be found in Mid October. There is a sea food restruant in front the apartment building that is one of the best in Cannes. We drove to Tuscany Italy for a business meeting and noticed the appartment is only a couple hour drive to the hot spots on the Italian Riveria. Thanks for sharing your home with us and the offer to sample your personal wine collection. Oh if you park in the public parking garage they do lock it up at night, I look back now and laugh at how horrified my wife and I were at 3am trying to tell the guard ( with a french phrase book) that we needed our car now to catch our flight. P.S. It pays to advertise, when in the Northwest USA visit our log cabin. http://www.vrbo.com/262129
Owner response:Thank you Roger, we really enjoyed helping you plan your visit to Cannes and we are delighted it worked out so well.

This apartment was everything that is advertised and more. I read the review of the visitor who was there before us and he has clearly confused this with another apartment. That is a shame because I’ve been to Cannes many times and this apartment is so lovely and one of the best, if not the best I have stayed in. It has a wonderful terrace where we spent such great time having meals and in the evenings enjoying the spectacular view of the clock tower at Le Suquet. The interior floors are elegant Provencal limestone carrelages anciens and the color washed day room yellow walls retain the apartment’s authentic 19th Century charm. The apartment is completely updated with a new well stocked kitchen, and a great Italian retro sofa in the living room. We leave the big floor to ceiling doors in the master-bedroom open at night, the air is splendid, and in the early morning below the terrace, there is an adorable accordion player who serenades us! For anyone making their first or even a repeat visit, there is no better location, right next to the old quarter and everything is right outside your door…shopping, dining, beaches. Most of all, the apartment’s owners Rena and Ron make you feel like you are their personal guest. They are available for anything you could need pre-departure, planning, and even encourage you to enjoy their personal wine collection.
Owner response:Marcy, Strath -- thank you for coming back and enjoying our home in Cannes. Nothing means more to us than seeing our guests return. Rena and Ron

Location is Great...but Nothing else is

Upon arriving to the apartment we were pleasantly pleased with the great location only a few minutes walk to the Palais. This is the only plus I can honestly say about the experience, other than a nice spacious balcony but there is no view. The apartment does not have a dining room table and I guess 2 people could eat on the small counter in the kitchen. The pots and pans are outdated and contain no teflon which made it difficult to cook. The couch in the living room is very uncomfortable and the only TV in the apartment is no bigger than 13". In the bathroom there are no electrical outlets so if you need to use a hair dryer, razor, etc. you have to leave the bathroom. This all being said, the worst experience is the ungodly amount of noise that took place every single morning around 5 - 5:30am whether it was the garbage men, street sweepers or construction. I'm a light sleeper so once this happened I was up for the night. All in all if you care more about location than the amenities then this is for you but if not then I would not recommend it.
Owner response:We are in the best part of Cannes where streets are cleaned every morning. Situated in the old town, the area is bright with immaculate walkways, flowerbeds, and a gorgeous promenade facing the old port opposite our front entrance. With no automobile traffic, ours is one of the quietest streets in Cannes. A light sleeper can shut the bedrooms’ double-paned windows for extra quiet. Our terrace is a rarity and one of the nicest and largest terraces in old Cannes. It overlooks an ancient cobblestone pedestrian street and the classic facades of Rue Meynadier. We have a spectacular view of the tower of Le Sequet at night. French Kiss with Kevin Kline and Meg Ryan was filmed right below us. It is a dream to have one’s meals on this terrace which is why during the spring through fall months, the dining room table resides there, not inside the apartment. This is a classic Victorian building. The apartment is remodeled throughout to a high standard. We are clear in our advertising that this apartment has endless classic charm and character and is anything but an ultra-modern hermetically sealed enclosure with a gigantic wall size television. Basic factual errors: there is an electrical outlet built into the medicine cabinet, we don’t advertise Teflon pans, but there are a few, and the sofa is a brand new high end Italian designer model. I regret this guest’s disappointment but based on our experience, and the fact that half of our guests are repeat visitors, I think this review has more to do with unrealistic expectations, personal problems during the visit, disorientation (try the Cotes de Provence next time), or confusion with another apartment rented elsewhere during the same vacation. But I am empathetic, and I know the disappointment is genuine no matter what the cause. We have developed long-term friendships with many of our guests and we do everything possible to make their visits memorable. I am so committed to our guests having a positive experience that right or wrong, I offered this particular person both a refund of money and the opportunity to re-visit our apartment at no charge. I have great passion for both this apartment and Cannes and my goal is for you to have the best possible experience. Once we are in touch with one another, you will understand that I spare no effort to make sure that your experience is a positive one from the moment of your first inquiry up through the time of your visit. Thanks, Ron

I have attended the Cannes Film Festival annually since 1991. It has always been a challenge finding/negotiating properties. One year (2008?) I sent a wire transfer for 7,000 euros to secure an apartment with Riviera Connection...only to be told by text, the morning of our arrival, that the property was not available. This is important info as you can get burned (never rcvd a refund either). However, this particular apt was fantastic. Location could not be better, in the heart of bistros and shops, a very brief and lovely walk to the center of the festival, safe, secure, clean, and exceptionally accomodating. The fantastic alley terrace is huge and delightful for coffee and croissants in the morning or wine and pate at dusk. A bath and a half with a tub and shower! Laundry facilities allows you to underpack. Quiet...a huge plus in Cannes, especially during the Festival and as the City hosts something like 150 festivals a year, this is a plus that pays dividends! The apt as I stated is perfect...we are three (me, my wife and our 6 yr old) and it could comfortably sleep four without using the livingroom sofa. As wonderful as the space is, the location is the topper. With a plethora of bakeries within a 2 minute walk, plus grocery stores, fromageries, fruit stands, the Farmer's market, and restaurants, all situated near the base of Le Suquet, you could not wish for a better spot, and in 21 years, I have stayed everywhere possible. Another plus is the owner, Ron, a New Yorker who writes essays describing the numerous pluses of the apt...giving you tips and insights which provide wonderful and fascinating insight into the area. Warm, gracious and helpful...he, unlike countless others gets it. if you enjoy your stay, you'll come back as well as tell your friends (gee, such a simple manifesto...why don't others hop on-board?). I could go on & on...but I don't want to give away our secret...this place is great.

I do not normally write these type of reviews but I recommend this apartment to anyone who visits Cannes. It is a charming apartment, very very clean (not always the case in France), and the location is amazing. The apartment is opposite the old port, and next to the best shops and dining and the old part of Cannes. This is simply the best neighborhood. It is a short and lovely walk to the best beach in Cannes. Most importantly, the owners really care about their guest. They contact you before your visit, answer questions, make suggestions, and even make contact afterword to make sure everything was perfect. We really felt like welcome guests. Location is everything in Cannes and it makes a good visit a great one.
