This Vacation Home could be a destination in itself with it's 2300 square feet of interior living space plus another 1000 square feet of covered porches that wrap completely around, to take advantage of the spectacular views and the back yard garden.
The Clyde S. Pittman home as it is called in the National Register of Historic Places was built in 1906 by local craftsmen for Mr. Pittman, a merchant and former Mayor of the Town of Swansboro.
The home is situated in the center of the Historic District of this almost three-hundred year old fishing village. The Historic District and much of the waterfront shopping is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The home is one block uphill from the water, and two blocks from lots of quaint shopping and dining.
Renovation and restoration of the Pittman home at 206 Elm Street was begun by the owners during April 1996, and initialy completed September 2000, with continuous improvements since.
It has all the Southern charm that an old home can have with the comfortable feel of modern conveniences. The home has three separate bedrooms and two modern full baths.
Two of the most enjoyable features of the home are the extensive porches and the tin roof, they both make for a most romantic environment especially when it rains.
However the best that the Pittman home has to offer are the panoramic views of the Town of Swansboro, the Historic District, and the other historic homes and businesses, the boat docks, the Marinas, the shrimp boats, the seafood market, the White Oak River, the Bay of Swansboro, the Atlantic Intercoastal Waterway, the barrier islands, the world-famous Outer Banks, and distant views of the Atlantic Ocean breaking upon Hammocks Beach State Park (ranked the #2 best beach walk in America by USA Today).
Many renters have said the best part is the walking distance to the numerous restaurants. Other renters have told me they enjoyed the friendly conversations with the neighbors. I think you will find your own reasons to enjoy this qaint coastal town.
My wife and I have tried to make this the very best vacation value anywhere and it is an exceptional value for being so near the Atlantic Ocean (five miles by road), but don't let the low price fool you into thinking it is not a quality rental. The reason we keep the price low is to encourage couples or small families to rent our home rather than a motel room. We do not encourage our historic Home to be used for multiple family gatherings as it increases the wear and tear on this property, we hope you will agree.
Call, or E-mail for more information and verification of rental bookings dates and rates. I offer a military discount.

Historic Coastal Home with Water Views on Three Sides
Year Purchased: 1996
Why the Owner Chose Swansboro
We bought this historic home when it was in pretty bad shape and spent 5 years rebuilding it from the ground up. During the rehabilitation we fell in love with the quaint little town of Swansboro and all the friendly people. We also fell in love with this house and decided to try renting it so that we would not have to sell it.
The Unique Benefits at this House
As you will find in the remainder of the rental listing this Historic Home in the heart of the Historic District of Swansboro has water views from several rooms and windows and porches. It has wonderful sea breezes blowing accross the porches every afternoon. It is walking distance to several very nice restaurants and lots of shopping. It is a lot of fun to stay in Swansboro.
