Had a great time! The house was as listed, clean, really nice, comfortable & a good arrangement for a family reunion. We had a total of 13 come to the house, but only a maximum of 9 spent the night. One couple brought their own airbed. Plenty of space. Very close to the beach, easy walking distance, could be viewed from the kitchen & upper floors. The homeowner was helpful & very nice. A storm hit (high winds, heavy rain) but no problem with that, in fact we were surprised you couldn't hear the storm from inside.We cooked a lot. Kitchen was suitable. Had mostly everything we needed. A crock pot would have been nice. All enjoyed the stay. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Owner response:Thank you for what seems like a great visit. The tenants had a day and a half of beautiful weather but the last 2 days were rainy and cool. The weather this season has been unpredictable. It sounds like I need a "Crock Pot". I wish I would have known that before your arrival. The Quilters

We stayed off season the first week in November of 2011. We had a wonderful quilting retreat. The house and owner could not have been any better. The owner even left flowers on the table for our arrival and was readily available when the town's cable went off. If you stay here, we highly reccomend the truck stop for dining. Sounds crazy, but the food is wonderful.

Great location and very quiet. Lots of space for the entire family and everything was as advertised. Close access to the beach and the house was in great shape. I gave it a three star rating because the carpets were not very clean and we had two small children. There was quite a bit of dog hair on the steps as well. I ended up vacuuming the carpets shortly after we unpacked.

Great Girls Getaway!

Okay - so, maybe we aren't girls any more, but we had a great time!! Five friends celebrating the first one to turn 50! Great location, great town, great beach, great house!! Everything was exactly as posted! And the perfect retreat from our husbands, kids, and "real" life. We hope to make this an annual event - in Cape Charles, and at THE VIEW!

We just wanted to let you know that we had a great time in Cape Charles, VA. It is the perfect place for chhildren of all ages. We loved your house. It is in the perfect location and so close to the beach. All of the extra space made our stay very comfortable. We spent the evenings sitting out on the wonderful covered porch. Having the gas grill there for us made it really nice and easy to cook out and enjoy dinners. Thank you again!

Large- Roomy- Family Thanksgiving 2010

Our family had an awesome experience at the View. The owner is very personable and ensures his guests are comfortable. Upon learning we were cooking for Thanksgiving he purchased a large turkery pan and rack for us to use. Beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay- Multiple dens and living areas so multi-family and guests can spread out. Beautiful porch with rockers and chairs- Our experience was very pleasant and memorable. Thank you for exceeding our expectations the entire family had a grand time! Highly recommend- for future vacations. Quaint quite town.. Recommend Aqua- local resturant- Wed night special- buy one entree' get the second free- (seafood- speciality)- overlooks the bay

Great Time at "The View"

Last week my husband and I and three of his friends spent time at The View. The men played in a golf tournament at Bay Creek. The View's close proximity to Bay Creek made for an easy trip to the golf course. While the men were playing in the tournament I walked to the historic area of Cape Charles and along the Chesapeake Bay. The house was located very close to these areas. It was well appointed, clean, and very comfortable. The two TV lounge areas allowed everyone to watch their favorite shows. The owner, Will, called when we arrived to make sure that we had everything we needed. He was an excellent host. I would highly recommend "The View" for a great time!

Owner response:The Niles Group were great renters. They are landlords too with their son on a cottage in Colonial Beach. It worked out well for everyone, October is a great time of year to play golf on the Eastern Shore!! Mrs. Niles especially enjoyed sight -seeing and left the house in great shape at checkout. My husband, I and our dog had a wonderful stay at The View this past memorial day weekend. The house is very well kept and has everything you need to enjoy your stay...including boogie boards! It is so close to the beach and you can see the gorgeous sunsets over the water. Next time we will rent a golf cart and ride around like everyone else!

We stayed at "The View" for a week in August, and we had a wonderful time. This lovely house is well-maintained and supplied, with a great location just steps from the beach. Additionally, the owner was very friendly, helpful, and easy to contact.

This was our first visit to Cape Charles and "The View" after many years spent at Cape Cod, MA. While it took a few days to stop comparing, we easily settled into the quiet and easy going pace of Cape Charles. The house was the nicest house we stayed in..bar none ..over the years. We may have spent more porch time than inside time. With our two daughters, their husbands, another granmda and 5 grandchoildren from 15 to two months we each had our space for some time apart and time together. All the amenities provided lots of time for games while the dishes were washing and the clothes and towels were being washed and dried. The beach was perfect for two year old Ethan who walked right into the warm bay water. The rain came at night and the sun during the day for lots of beach time. On Friday night we had one of the most unique sunsets ever with two giant yellow rays shooting skyward with the orange sunset fading in the background. A good time was had by all. Read James Michener's "Chesapeake" for a fascinating history of the area. Barb and Tom PLuta

Thank you for a wonderful week. The layout of the house is fabulous for sharing and giving everyone space and privacy. My husband and I won the flip and got the Master Suite, although our daughter and son-in-law also won because they had the room with a balcony and view. Every place in the house is a win win situation. Thank you for being so attention to our needs, and Bill, please thank Curtis for his concern and help.

This is our fourth Summer vacationing in Cape Charles, and our first time staying at "The View". We had a very good experience during our three week stay! In addition to continually enjoying the charm and beauty of Cape Charles, we were pleased with the accomodations. The house is comfortably appointed, clean and well-stocked. The close proximity to the beach and the huge wrap-around porch are key features. The owner was attentive and ensured that we were happy with our stay. (Thanks, Bill!) My husband & I enjoyed our stay starting August 18, 2007. We had everthing available to us. The location to the beach, the town of cape charles and long walks was wonderful. We spent most of the time on the wrap a round porch. We invited four quests which we really couldn't tell anyone else was in the house. We highly recommend this property for rest & relaxation. I rented this house with four of my girlfriends and we had a fabulous time!! We had wonderful weather and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful sunsets over the water every night - the prettiest we had seen anywhere. The wrap around porch was very relaxing and we enjoyed the small town feel of people walking, riding bikes, and lots of dogs. The house was very nice and well equipped with whatever you may need during your stay. I also thought it was nice to deal directly with the owner for the rental.

My four high school girlfriends and I stayed here for a weekend for a 20 year reunion. The house was plenty big for the five of us. The kitchen was well equipped and we took advantage of it. We especially loved the porch. We had a great time and I don't think the bartenders at the Cabana Bar will ever forget us!

We love the house, its roomy, with high ceilings down stairs and the Deck off the back two bedrooms is great for morning coffee!! Each of our Children brought a friend with them and they spent the entire week either in the water, on the beach or in the Kayak's. They looked like Indians by weeks end!! We plan on bringing our close friends from Cambridge with us next year or maybe even in the fall!!
