Mountain Pines is a spacious 2 level hillside home on 1+ acre with trees, rock outcroppings, and amazing views. Wildlife such as deer, elk, bobcat, coyote, and an occasional bear frequent the property. We are conveniently located to area attractions and just minutes from downtown Estes Park for shopping and dining and Rocky Mountain National Park with it's world class hiking and scenery. Our home features 2 bedrooms with an additional sleeping area in the lower level family room (all with queen beds) and can sleep 6 comfortably. 3 bathrooms mean no waiting in line. The open living, kitchen, and dining area with a wood burning fireplace make it fun and easy to be together. The master bedroom is on the main level with a new queen bed (2013), pine nightstands and chest. Two windows with views of Prospect Mountain and large ponderosa pines. The bathroom is conveniently located just outside the bedroom and features a soaking tub and tile shower. The second bedroom is downstairs with a queen pillow top bed and a connecting full bath. It also has a large window with views of ponderosa pines. We are located in Estes Park, gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Must do activities include hiking some of the more than 300 miles of trails in the National Park. Some favorites are any of the trails out of the Bear Lake and Moraine Park areas. The free Park Shuttle Bus System operates in this area from late May through early October and is convenient and easy to use. Check with the Park Service for detailed route and schedule information. Taking a free Ranger Guided Hike is a fun and informative way to get to know the National Park. Pick up a Park newspaper at any visitor center or entrance station for more information. The entrance fee for the Park is $20 per vehicle and is valid for 7 days. A bargain! Other outdoor activities include horseback riding, flyfishing, rock climbing, and photography. Many outfitters are available to assist with these and other activities.
Climbing Longs Peak (14,259') is a goal of many who visit this area. This is a serious hike that involves some rock scrambling and should not be taken lightly. Careful planning and proper conditioning are a must.
No visit is complete without a journey up Trail Ridge Road, usually open by Memorial Day weekend. This paved road tops out at over 12,000' and has several overlooks with spectacular views. Stop at the Trail Ridge Store and Alpine Visitor Center (11,796') then return, or continue on to Grand Lake and back for a full day of exploration.
The town of Estes Park hosts several festivals and events throughout the summer and also has lots of shops and restaurants. Insider tip: Park at the fairgrounds and ride the free shuttle to the Visitor Center. From there it is a short walk to Elkhorn Ave. and the Riverwalk. You can also catch the shuttle bus into the National Park from the Visitor Center. For more info go to www.visitestespark.com or stop in at the Estes Park Visitor Center.
Other activities might include a walk or bicycle ride around Lake Estes, a boat rental at the Marina, or a round of golf. Bicycles can be rented at Estes Park Mountain Shop just below the Lake Estes dam. They also rent flyfishing gear, guide trips, and have an indoor climbing gym (great fun for kids and adults).
A hike up Prospect Mountain (8900') from our front door affords panoramic views of the Continental Divide and the Estes Valley. This moderate hike with no crowds is well worth the effort and easily accessed through our neighborhood.
Of course you can always just relax and enjoy the views from our deck. Ahhhh.

About the owner: We moved to Estes Park in 1993 to live and play in the mountains of Colorado. We love hiking, camping, and backpacking. We designed and built this home in 1999 and feel grateful to live in this beautiful place. Last summer we decided to travel around the Western U.S. in our camper so we hired someone to manage our property as a vacation rental. This year we are staying in the area but want to continue sharing our home as a vacation rental while we plan our next adventure.
Why the Owner Chose Estes Park: We chose this location because of the beautiful, framed view of Twin Sisters Peak and the convenient access to everything. We love the big pine trees and all of the wildlife we see here. We also like sitting on the deck for a relaxing meal in the warmer months. There is over an acre of land which allows for space and privacy, and room for the wildlife to pass through. We are still close to town for shopping and eating out. Also, Rocky Mountain National Park is just minutes from here without having to drive through town. Very convenient, especially in the summer months.
