Enjoy a fabulous and relaxing vacation in this charming and tranquil home in San Miguel de Allende. Nestled in the Sierra Madres, this oldest and prettiest of Mexico's colonial cities is a wonder of cobblestone streets, winding alleys, extraordinary vistas and international charm. Year-round the flawless climate attracts visitors from around the world who come here to enjoy the cultural richness of this jewel of Mexico.
Located in the quiet neighborhood of San Antonio Norte, our home is just a short walk to the Instituto Allende, Warren Hardy School, shopping and dining along Zacateros, and the vibrant nightlife of the Jardin Principal and Centro. Enjoy concerts, lectures, plays, readings, dance performance and art openings held on a regular basis. The most popular restaurants and galleries are all close by. For the more active there are spas, gyms, tennis, golf and swimming. Just outside of town you can horseback ride with our friend Dali. And don't miss the wonderful hot springs that dot the surrounding countryside; La Gruta is our favorite.
Our lovely housekeeper, Sol, will see to your comfort and is available for traditional Mexican meals (for you or a larger party) that she'll prepare for a very reasonable fee. We recommend it highly. Sol can also direct you (in English) to all the "secret" finds that make our time in San Miguel so special.
One of the joys of our house is its wonderful indoor/outdoor accessibility. As you enter there is a small plant-filled patio adjacent to the very private guest suite. There you'll find a gas fireplace for the winter months, a small dressing room with built in closets, and a large, beautifully tiled bathroom. From the patio, the outdoor staircase (abundant with pink geraniums) takes you to the open design living room, kitchen (with new appliances) and dining area. There is a powder room and French doors to a second small patio dominated by a beautiful mosaic mural by local artist, Lucinda Johnson. The tiled kitchen faces a spacious and comfortable seating area that's filled with sunlight all day long.
A second stair takes you to the upper terrazzo and fountain adjacent to the master bedroom suite. From here you can view the town and the mountains beyond. The bedroom itself features large closets, contemporary design, fireplace, and window seat for reading and gazing across to the Parroquia which is spectacularly lit at night. The tiled bathtub and shower is a prize. From the terrazzo a small circular staircase leads to the covered rooftop tejado and cocina (kitchenette). Here you'll enjoy panoramic 360-degree views that are among the best in San Miguel. Enjoy the sunset from here while sipping a margarita. That's what we call paradise! |
