About: The owners of this old Austin property are Texans who have called Austin home since 1975. While business required some years in Europe, 'home' was always Austin where business headquarters remained. The owners are entrepreneurs with businesses ranging from corporate training for global companies, to computer and software support, restaurants, real estate, and unique wedding venues. Ms. Nancy Valdez, a longtime associate of the owners, manages the property.
Why Travis Heights: It was a natural! It is old Austin charm, built in 1922, in an ideal location. Austin has changed of course, but it is fun to muse over the site of downtown from a '1922 vantage point.' There is an excellent view of the current downtown, which can be seen across the Colorado River that runs in front of the property, also known as Town Lake.
The Unique Benefits at this House: After the initial appeal of the Victorian look of the property, the owners fell in love with the front
porch and the spiral stairs on the back of the main house. A huge plus was separate dwellings that could be used for family gatherings.
An oak tree on the back of the property---quite spectacular---is estimated to be 300 to 400 years
The location seems private, remote, and isolated---however, it is within five minutes of downtown and the capitol, within 10 minutes to UT and St. Ed's, within walking distance of South Congress (SoCo) and Austin's trails as well as multiple venues on the lake, and within 10 minutes of the Formula 1 race track. It is truly at the heart of Austin!
