In the winter I provide sleds, and you are welcome to use the extra boots and gloves for adults and kids that I keep at the cabin.
This is a HOUSEKEEPING CABIN - the rates are low because guests must provide their own sheets, towels and firewood and must clean the cabin in readiness for the next guests before leaving. Refundable $200 cleaning/security deposit required to hold reservation; deposit will be returned in full once the cabin has been checked. Roads are very well maintained by Pine Mountain Club but weather can change quickly in the mountains so be prepared with 4-wheel drive or chains in winter. There is as yet no cell phone service in the area and the phone is blocked for outgoing long distance, so I provide a phone card to make long distance calls (best to bring your own card, too, just in case).

Cozy Rustic Pine Mountain Club Cabin - 3rd Night Free Midweek
Year Purchased: 1985
Why the Owner Chose Pine Mountain Club
My ex-husband and I bought this cabin in 1985. We wanted a retreat where he could golf and I could x-country ski and we could enjoy nature with our family. We had thought of looking in Big Bear, east of LA, but a friend told us about Pine Mountain Club which is so much closer and quieter. It's never crowded, even on holidays, and has a real small town feel, plus it's only 90 minutes from my home in Pasadena.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
When I'm in my cabin I feel like I'm in another world. It's absolutely quiet on the cul-de-sac, and the back deck looks out onto green space with birds, squirrels and the occasionally deer. The interior is all knotty pine, even the ceilings, and there's a big stone fireplace. Starting right across from the cabin a neighbor has built a series of rock-lined paths through the woods, with little tables and seats made from tree stumps; it's just a 10 minute walk to the village through the "enchanted forest." I love to hike and x-country ski on Mt. Pinos, and enjoy the live music, free wifi, swimming and tennis at the clubhouse. For home entertainment, I have accumulated a library of over 200 movies on dvd, laser disc and tape. I enjoy sharing my cabin with guests and I use it myself as often as I can; a weekend at the cabin feels like a real vacation.
Rock-lined paths through the woods to the village, built by my neighbor for all to enjoy. A beautiful 10-minute walk to the village and on to the clubhouse - great for kids.
Catch and release fishing, picnicking, duck watching. No swimming or boating, please.
Clubhouse with lounge, restaurants, live music on weekends, golf course, tennis courts, game room, swimming pool open in summer.
Hiking, picnicking, sledding, x-country skiing about a 20 minute drive from the cabin.
Owner's Map of Pine Mountain Club
I retired from Disney Studios in 2007. Now I work part-time as a paralegal and I like to travel - I do home exchanges all over the world. I grew up in upstate NY so I love coming to the mountains for the change of seasons and the snow.

Our favorites were the rooms, the closet and the outdoors. Me and my best friend are about 12 and we got to have our own room. Also we made the cabin into a scrapbooking station and got to scrapbook our memories. We transformed our huge closet into a cozy hangout. And then there's the outdoors...We climbed a million trees! We also made videos so we could remember the fantastic time here. We thank you for allowing us to stay. PS: It snowed!

What a nice getaway it was for myself and my family. I just love your notes, your warmth that you can feel throughout the home, and all the great amenities. The curtains along the stairway is such a great idea for the heat containment, and we love your unique fireplace, and the porches, and all the wood. We had a Monopoly marathon on Monday afternoon into the evening, and just sat on the deck and star gazed. I am sure we will be contacting you again to rent your lovely place.

...to have been able to enjoy your cabin again. It had been way too long since our last visit, but we hope to be able to plan another trip in the next few months so that we can experience the snow. Being here feels like home, but much more relaxing. Thanks again, we will be in touch soon.

...being blessed with your cabin. We have had a peaceful and wonderful family time. Didn't know what to expect with it being the first time without snow, but we hiked and explored a lot more. Christmas eve after wine and an awesome dinner we all sat out bundled up on the deck and looked at the stars. We all expressed to God what we were thankful for and how much we loved each other. Very special. (Those of you who have teenagers know how special that was - Ha ha!) Thank you very much. Happy birthday Jesus.

on the wonderful essence of this cabin and all your special touches. Dima and I had a wonderful time exploring the Snowflake Wash Trails, Mt. Pinos, and look forward to a few more hikes tomorrow. I saw some jays, black phoebes, and Traill's flycatchers through your binoculars - thanks for leaving that out for us. This area is really quite rich with beautiful pines, wildflowers, stink bugs, birds and other critters. I hope it stays preserved forever. Looking forward to our next visit!

Our family met up in California from England and Australia and have had a fantastic break from the cities and beaches - so peaceful here. We are very impressed with your film collection and enjoyed choosing (difficult!) films and settling down with popcorn for the evening. The cabin notes were extremely useful. As were all the carefully labeled bits of information. Been fishing, bird watching and swimming and it's HOT, HOT, HOT!

Thank you! We really appreciated all the little touches. I can tell you really put a lot of care into making the place comfortable for people. The little notes are clear and helpful. There are a lot of supplies that you would never think to bring, things like matches and coffee filters.
