Year Purchased: 1928
About the owner: Our mother, Janet, purchased this property in 1928 when the best way to get there was by boat from Nelson. She taught school in Nelson and loved the outdoors. It was an apple farm and the old house that they used for camping is right next door the the cottage (which Janet and her husband built in 1964). Our cousins live in the next two houses along the lake and step in as property hosts while we are away.
Why the Owner Chose Nelson: Janet's parents moved to Nelson in the 1890's and her father, Alexander Carrie, was the architect of many of the historic buildings in downtown Nelson. But the biggest reason they all stayed is the beauty of the Kootenays.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: The house is comfortable, the beach is relaxing, the views are spectacular and there are so many activities minutes away but you won't want to leave.
