My husband and I had an absolutely fabulous time in Oahu and your cottage was a perfect place to stay. With all of the amenities we could ever need, it felt like home. And although it is a bit of a drive to get to Honolulu and other tourist spots, this is a perfect place if you are looking for a quiet location for a calm and relaxing stay. You can get to anywhere on the island within an hour. I was even able to walk down to the shoreline and watch the sunrise in absolute peace and quiet. Made our honeymoon perfectly romantic! Thank you!Owner response: Aloha, Appreciate your fine review of our cherished Kaneohe Retreat! So glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay...and that it was a perfect spot for your honeymoon. Your comments are important to us...much appreciated! Mahalo

The cottage was just right for a family of 3 and in a great location for our trip. Easy access to shopping and beaches. The owner was very responsive and easy to work with. We would recommend it to others and stay again ourselves. The only suggestion -- some things could stand to be replaced (linens, pots/pans), but it was all clean. You also can't actually see much of the ocean from inside the house cause of the trees for privacy. Mahalo Diane!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Words can not explain how my friends family and I felt staying at this absolutely lovely Kaneoha beach home. Every transaction with the owner was easy. The pictures are great, but just do not do the property justice. We stayed from August 1st through August 6th, then relocated to Waikiki for another week. The location was everything to us. Close to our friends home, close to the beaches, the stores and the ranch were our friends 20th anniversary party was and where they had been married 20 years earlier. Everyone was jealous of our place! Thank you again Dian! We want to keep this fabulous place our secret!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Aloha Kim, Thank you so much for the fine review of our cottage retreat! So glad that you enjoyed your stay with family & friends...and hope you plan future visits! To celebrate your friends 20th anniversary in beautiful Waikane area, must of been very special! All the best... Mahalo! Dian

Everything was great for our two weeks stay in July. Nothing dissapointed us.... If you want a quiet location to enjoy what, at times, can be a very busy island, book this cottage. Close to everything, including the best beaches on the island, with some of them being the best in the world. Two adults, two 17 year old girls....lot of beach time, great food and fun. Thanks Diann for facilitating a great holiday for us. We have and will continue to share our recommendations for this place with our friends. Yup... no air conditioning, and warm... that is why we went to Hawaii. :) Evening breezes and evening rain and the occassional cool refreshment... yup a very good time. Jim and 3 Jim and 3Owner response: Mahalo, Jim & Family! Thanks for your nice feedback! So thrilled you enjoyed your stay and had a good time all around! And appreciate you recommending the cottage to your friends! Hope you can return again before too long. Mahalo! Dian

Coming down the little crushed coral driveway into the little parking spot, a little tricky especially at night. Great deck with a hammock facing the ocean. Down stairs has couch with tv, there is a washer and dryer and bathroom. Kitchen, and nice sized dining table. Up stairs in the loft are the beds and occasional gecko. It gets hot up there, NO air conditioning. The beach is not a swimming beach. And access is limited due to neighbors. ( We think someones septic tank overflowed too) Can't beat the location, which is why I picked this area. Near to Kualoa ranch (google it). On the west side(windward side). Going down the coast you have Lanikai, sealife park, Hanauma bay. Goinhg up the coast you have Polynesian cultural center (which exceeded expectations) and Kahukus and the north shore. Overall pleased.Owner response: Aloha Kevin, Thank you for your feedback... Glad to hear that you liked the location...and overall amenities. No AC because property is on the coast so majority of the time there are trade winds. There is an oscillating & ceiling fan in the upper loft, which is usually sufficient in keeping it cooler, on rare hot summer nights with no breezes. We just got add'l portable fans, if needed. And the neighbors have recently had their septic pumped, which overflow has not happened before. Thanks again for choosing our property for your get-a-way! Mahalo, Dian

My fiancé and I loved everything about this cottage! When we arrived we walked into exactly what we were expecting based on the descriptions and photos, although the pictures hardly do justice to the amazing view. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed for the week, from coffee and aluminum foil to ALOE which I unfortunately had to take advantage of, (and we made sure to replenish everything we used for the next lucky guests). We had the privilege of meeting Lisa who helps with the upkeep of the property – she was kind enough to drive over and unlock the doors after we locked our keys inside – HUGE Thanks for that! And how convenient that she was there within 5 minutes of our call! And thanks to the perfectly central location we were able to spend time both in Honolulu and exploring the north shore. Overall, we were sad to have to leave and we would LOVE to stay again sometime! Mahalo Dian!!Owner response: Aloha Brittany! Thank you so much for your great feedback...so glad that you both enjoyed the cottage, it's amentities and location. And, yes, Lisa is wonderful...has always been there when needed. Hope you can make it back sometime! Mahalo, Dian

ESCAPING THE COLD MONTANA SPRING AND KICKING OFF MY RETIREMENT AT THIS WONDERFUL PARADISE WAS ICING ON THE CAKE. WE STAYED FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH AND EXPLORED ALL THAT OAHU HAS TO OFFER. DIANE, THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL PLACE TO COME HOME TO. WE COULD NOT HAVE CHOSEN A MORE PERFECT AUTHENTIC HAWAIIAN GET AWAY FOR OUR FIRST TIME TO THIS WONDERFUL PARADISE. ON ONE OF OUR DAY TRIPS TO THE NORTH SHORE WE MET A LOCALE SHOP OWNER THAT HAD SOME REAL WORDS OF WISDOM...HE ASKED IF WE WERE ENJOYING OUR STAY..I SAID ABSOLUTELY..TO WHICH HE REPLIED, TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO GO TO MAUI....Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We stayed in the cottage for 9 days. The views and locale were amazing. The location north of Kaneohe gives you a good sense of the "real" Hawaii. Although its located out in the countryside right on the bay, you can drive to almost every place on the island in 20-40 minutes. All the local people were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed waking up each morning to the sounds of the tropical birds. Most mornings we ate breakfast (Papaya from Times Market and local farmers market was fantastic) on the lanai while watching the birds and soaking in the tropical feel. I enjoyed a couple of late afternoon naps in the hammock. If you're there on the weekend, checkout the farmers market in Kaneohe on Saturday. Had good takeout from Mike's Huli Huli chicken/shrimp truck (junction of 83 and 830) on the way to Kaneohe from the cottage. Enjoyed a fantastic dinner at Haleiwa Joe's in Haiku Gardens. The resturant overlooks the gardens and the view of the gardens is spectacular. Be sure to ask for a table next to the railing. Enjoed the cottage. Mahalo Dian.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Our expectations were totally fulfilled. The longer we stayed in the cottage, the better we liked it. First of all, it is perfectly situated, weather you are going south east towards Waimanolo, south to Honolulu or north to the North Shore. Just a 30 minutes drive and you have lots of activities in reach. Our favor´rite beach was Waimanolo Beach and we also had very close to Polynesian Cultural Center, a must. We really enjoyed the breakfast on the deck in the mornings and the sip at something refreshing out there in the evening. The kitchen had everything you needed, unfortunately the BBQ was out of order the week we were there, but the owner promised to fix it asap. You sleep easily 4 adults in the cottage and there were a large extra bed suitable for 1-2 smaller children. If you plan to arrive at night, bring a flashlight. First the entrance to the property is not very easy to find even in daylight, but look out for a big stone wall. Behind the entrance in the stone wall, you will find the gate to the property, though not very obvious house number. Also, if it is dark, you really need the flashlight for the key box. Everything was clean and in good order, the WiFi worked perfectly, the TV also and we had good use of the washer and dryer. In all, a great place with very good value for the money. If we ever get back to Hawaii, we would sure consider renting it again. Can be highly recommended if you are not eager to live in the Waikiki melt bowl!Owner response: Thank you for your fine review! You confirmed that it's a unique hidden retreat in a great location and with all the amenities needed for a memorable island get away...all for a good value! (sorry about the BBQ which I didn't know about/now replaced; and as mentioned in direction info-'bring a flashlight' if arriving after dark) Hope you can make it back before too long! Mahalo!

We can really recommend this place with all our heart!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1987
About the owner: For many years I have worked as an artist/sculptor...designing elements for the home. And I have managed property rentals for over 25 years. We spend a few weeks each year enjoying our island retreat and getting recharged.
Why the Owner Chose Kaneohe:
We looked for a special location for over 4 years until 1987... when we finally found our perfect island retreat. We built a custom pole house(s) and appointed it with Indonesian/Asian furnishings from our travels and extensive tropical landscaping from local farmers. For years we have shared the guest house with travellers from all over the world...with many rave reviews.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
This is a very unique, exclusive area...located about 10 minutes north of Kaneohe, in an area called Waikane which means 'Water of the Gods'. It's private; has a serene country feel embellished with gorgeous tropical vegetation & fruit trees. Being embraced with the Koolau Mountains and enchanting views of Kaneohe Bay...this property is like no other. Great location...10 minutes to Kaneohe town; 20 minutes to Honolulu & Kailua; 40 minutes to the NorthShore. And close to beautiful beaches all along the coast.
