Do you like paying a hefty deposit for a rental months away and your money is tied up until your stay is complete? I didn't think so. I have a different approach to security deposits that I'm finding people really like...
When you book with us and return the signed rental agreement, all we ask for is your credit card number to hold the reservation. No deposit is ever billed. Once your stay is complete and the provisions of the rental agreement have been met, there is no other transaction required. If for some reason, some of the provisions are not met, the maximum that would be charged to your card to cover the cost is $200 (the standard deposit amount required).
If you don't like to use credit cards for your rental transactions, just put a $200 check in the mail along with your signed rental agreement. I will hold the check until your stay is complete. Again, if the provisions of the agreement have been met, I will either return or destroy your check, whichever you prefer.
Big Canoe, nestled in the foothills of North Georgia Appalachians, is an 8,000-acre gated community offering dramatic mountain peaks and natural hardwood forest. It is first class all the way with 27 holes of world class golf, three stocked lakes, a state-of-the-art fitness center, abundant wildlife, miles of hiking trails, two pools, a children’s park and much more! Come see why "Great Escape" is the perfect getaway for multiple families with children or just a quiet getaway!
Located in Laurel Ridge, a cluster community of 44 homes, "Great Escape" is a luxurious mountain home surrounded by nature at its finest with beautiful mountain views. As well, walking distance to pool, lake with beach and paddle boats, waterslide, restaurant, park, church, tennis courts and fitness center with indoor pool and a quick drive to the new Lake Sconti Clubhouse, Golf and the Jeep trail.
"Great Escape" is cozy and comfortable. It consists of three levels. The main level has a big open kitchen with breakfast bar and den, which makes for easy entertaining. Our farm-style kitchen table seats eight people and is perfect for game night or family style dinners. The full, gourmet kitchen has granite countertops, tumbled marble backsplash, and black appliances. We have everything you need to cook for a big group of people; numerous sized pots and pans, casserole dishes, cookie sheets, measuring cups, coffee maker, etc. The cozy den with a gorgeous stacked stone fireplace is perfect for reading, watching TV, just hanging out or listening to music. There is also a screened porch off the kitchen with a teak table (seats 6) where you can enjoy your cup of coffee in the morning while reading the paper and watching the sunrise. The screened porch leads out onto the enormous main level deck, which has a complete patio set and new gas grill.
Also located on the main floor is the master suite. The master bedroom has a queen size sleigh bed, two nightstands, a dresser and an armoire, which houses a TV and DVD player. The master bath is enormous with his/her sinks, granite counter tops and an oversized shower and separate jetted tub.
Downstairs on the terrace level is a gigantic recreation room with a 55" HDTV, a pool table and dart board. The entertainment center has surround sound, a DVR for recording your favorite programs, a DVD/CD player, and VCR. There are 3 oversized sofas which seat 9 comfortably. In addition, there is a full size laundry room with washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board.

One of the rooms has a queen bed and the other room has a double bed on one side of the room, bunk beds on the other, and a flat panel TV. Why the Owner Chose Big Canoe
This is our second vacation rental in Big Canoe. We purchased our first home in 2007 and have had great success with the rental business. We love the mountains and it's so close to Atlanta. Many mountain communities are several hours from Atlanta, but Big Canoe is only one hour. It's a short drive but you feel so much more relaxed at Big Canoe, away from the hustle and bustle.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We enjoy playing golf on the 27-hole championship golf course as well as visiting the wonderfully equipped fitness center. We love the full-body massages given at the fitness center. There are many hiking trails that the dogs (and humans) love to explore.
Owner's Map of Big Canoe
We live in midtown Atlanta in a work/live/play area known as Atlantic Station. We walk to the grocery store, movie theater, shopping, restaurants, etc from our home. We are minutes from the Fox Theater, Piedmont Park, Peachtree Street and many other interesting areas of Atlanta. We are also only one hour from our rental properties in Big Canoe.

My family and I had the opportunity to stay in the Great Escape the week before Christmas. It was wonderful! The house has plenty of room to spread out. It is well stocked with things for cooking and relaxing (games, towels, blankets, pillows), and is beautiful and comfortable. We have stayed in Big Canoe several times. This house is amazingly well priced. Nice quality. The owner was excellent to deal with. Very quick to respond. Terrific directions on how to get to the house, how to unlock, things to do in the area. Could not have been better!

Four couples of us stayed at the Great Escape recently for a week. It is a lovely house in a great area. We are all from Florida via the midwest and love to come to the mountains in the fall. We had great weather for the most part, saw some fall colors and generally enjoyed what the area has to offer. Big Canoe is a beautiful place with lots of amenities - golf, swimming, fitness center, lakes, a beach - children would love it in the warmer weather. The Great Escape is roomy, has great beds, and is beautifully decorated. I would recommend it to anyone who likes relaxing in the mountains. My only caution would be that the street the house is on is very steep, so would not do for very young children to play outside or for the disabled. Otherwise, it is a great place!

My family and I just enjoyed a week's stay at this lovely home. The kitchen is well stocked - the best I have ever experienced. The amenities are very close. The owners are very quick to respond when needed. We enjoyed the pool table, views, screened porch to eat outside and the large screen TV. We took advantage of the tennis courts and swimming. The staff at Big Canoe is very nice and helpful also. The value offered on this house is worth the money.

What a great house and an easy owner to work with!! We've rented many (probably 10+) houses in Big Canoe and always have a wonderful time there, but this has to be one of the best, if not the best, person to rent from bc the house is so well cared for. Many homes are not well stocked, but this one is! There are plenty of pots & pans, glasses, dishes, towels, etc. Also, comfy sofas and furniture for eating on the porch and deck. It was a pleasure to rent this one and we will be back. It is especially great in the summer months bc it is about a 2 min drive to the pool ammenities or about a ten min walk (the walk wouldn't be appropriate for little kids or elderly), but our 8 yr had no problem! We will rent again!

We had a wonderful time at Great Escape! The property is so clean and well maintained. The owner has thought of everything! We hosted family for a special birthday celebration and there was plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy. The outdoor decks and screened-in porch were very relaxing for morning coffee and watching the sunrise. The bedrooms are all beautifully appointed and comfortable. There is plenty of room for everyone to relax. We hope to come back again soon!
