Why the discount at my 5th and 6th floor mountain view studios? Times are tough ~~ As a famed hotelier said, "there's nothing more expensive than an empty room." Offer good on bookings departing by 12/16/12.

A lot more than a hotel room, for a lot less! ($120 ~ $135 low season rates before 15% discount.) Lahaina Shores Beach Resort is known in the travel business as a condo/hotel. Each unit is privately owned. Most owners have contracted with a firm that markets the property on their behalf. A relatively small number of us owners have elected to market our own units, feeling we can offer quality, and at a better rate.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition to the complete furnishings of a vacation home, you are provided with the "niceties" of a beachfront resort hotel including an open, breezy, comfortably furnished lobby, central air conditioning, large swimming pool, large jacuzzi, BBQ, 24 hr. front desk, etc. The central air conditioning has individual electronic controls. The entryway, the lobby, elevators and hallways have been remodeled, no doubt inspired by early Hawaiian plantation mansions.
The property is fronted by the ocean and has a beach which is excellent for sunbathing, safe swimming and snorkeling. (There's a reef about 150 yds. out which protects the beach from surf.) The large, manicured lawn area and swimming pool between the building and the beach are enhanced with umbrella'd tables & chairs, plus loungers for reading, sunning and snoozing. There's even a heated, bubbling, jacuzzi spa!
The significant 3 month renovation of my sixth floor Mountain View studio #624 (shown here) was completed in July '08. This includes an all new kitchen with solid wood cabinetry and features an oven range and microhood, a sleek vanity room, walk in shower with a transparent glass side wall, Mexican travertine and ceramic tile floors and shower walls, new carpeting, etc. The Hansgrohe wall bar shower is the same as you may sometimes find in a 5 star hotel.
Budget minded? My popular fifth floor studio #520 is available at $15 less per night. (See rate chart later on.) Current photos are available by request.
These centrally air conditioned 550 sq. ft. mountain view studios consist of a large living/bedroom area, a dining area and a bath and/or walk in shower with a separate vanity room. The firm California king bed, along with the carpeted bedroom / living area, make these desirable retreats. Also, there's a rollaway bed with standard size mattress for a third guest. Both studios provide an unobstructed view of the West Maui Mountains. Current photos appear in the photo gallery on owner's own website. (See link below "Rate Details"" and calendar icon further on.)
High speed internet cable access is available. Also, a 24" Vizio flat screen HDTV and a DVD/CD player were recently installed in each unit. The fully equipped kitchens are complete with full size appliances, a microwave, cookware, dishes and utensils. Plenty of linens and towels (as well as beach towels) are provided. And you can leave your hair dryer and iron at home.
At 475 Front St., this is the only beachfront resort in Lahaina. It's just a 3/10 mile walk along Front St. to Lahaina Harbor and quaint, historic Lahaina Town itself, Maui’s storied shop-’til-you-drop, gallery hopping, dining & partying mecca. Lahaina Harbor offers a full menu of boat trips for diving, snorkeling, sport fishing, whale or dolphin watching. Or for a memorable sunset cocktail / dinner cruise.
World class golf (think Kapalua and Ka'anapali) is available nearby.
Why the Owner Chose Lahaina Shores Beach Resort
Why Lahaina Shores Beach Resort? Being that Lahaina was decreed a National Historical Landmark by the National Park Service on December 29th, 1962, it seemed a wise long term investment to be nearby. So far, so good. Originally I had rented my fifth and sixth floor units as long term rentals. Once I retired from advertising and graphic design in 1990, I thought it would be interesting to self market my condos (also one at Maui Vista Resort in Kihei) as vacation rentals. So I developed my own website and promoted my properties through VRBO and other portals on the Internet. Now I find I'm really enjoying helping folks enjoy Maui. It's gratifiying to get feedback on information provided about things to see and do and where to eat. Many guests write me notes on how much they enjoyed the suggestions, and even have suggestions of their own. Other than golf (don't ask), and my art, this is what I do. Fun!
Lahaina Shores Beach Resort
The only vacation resort in Lahaina that's right on the beach. And only 3/10ths mile walk to Lahaina Harbor and the beginning of storied Lahaina Town itself.
Owner's Map of Lahaina Shores Beach Resort
Since retiring from his advertising and graphic design career, Jim has been promoting his three Maui condo rentals via the internet.
To satisfy his creative appetite, he joined the Honolulu Printmakers. In a workshop environment Jim has learned printmaking techniques including engraving, etching, aquatint, embossing and photogravure. Jim's efforts in these areas have resulted in his works being included in the juried Honolulu Printmakers Annual shows since 2005. In the '05 Annual Show, he was awarded the HonBlue purchase award.
In March 2007, the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, CT held their Sixth Annual Miniature Print Biennial in which Jim was awarded third prize. 130 works were displayed out of 548 entries from 180 artists living in 18 countries. The judge was the esteemed David Kiehl, curator of prints at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. The show got an upbeat review in the Arts and Entertainment section of the April 29, 2007 Sunday New York Times. The reviewer described the print "Fantasy Hibiscus," as a "lush, colored photogravure of a flower by Jim Egan from Hawaii, striking a balance between mastery of technique and innovation."
My golf game? That's a whole other story!
The colors on the mountains were always changing.
Hi Jim ~~ What a great job you did on the studio apartment. Loved your pictures. We enjoyed looking at the Mt's. on the deck and from the room. The colors on the mountains were always changing. The sun shining and the clouds on the mountains were beautiful. I took a ton of photos. When I get them on the computer I will sent you some. The location of your studio was perfect. Lahaina Shores is within walking distance of town and the ocean a few steps away Next door there are some good places to eat.. We saw Warren & Annabelle's Magic show. It was so funny. We also saw "Ulalena" play. It was Great!.. Hope sometime to be able to get back to Maui and if we do we want to stay in the same unit. You have a beautiful place there. If you ever get to KY let us know and we can meet and show you around our area. Thanks again. We had a great time.
Owner response:This is great! My objective is to provide an enjoyable vacation experience at good value for my guests. When I get a response such as this one from Ella and Jimmy, I feel like I've made new friends. That's surely the icing on the cake. Can't ask for more than that!
Loved this condo in Lahaina!! This location is perfect! You can walk to several restaurants.The complex is cozy and is right on the beach. Our unit faced the beautiful mountains and had some gorgeous rainbows! Don't miss Warren and Annabelle's Magic show in Lahaina.. it is AMAZING! Trilogy is the best snorkeling company. Download Maui Revealed app to your phone and it has everything you need to know to do in Maui! We loved Aloha Mixed Plate for local food and fantastic ocean view! We would walk down the beach to town and have breakfast at Cheeseburger In Paradise, great prices and ocean front! Aloha! :)
Jim, I returned home on Thursday evening, a week ago. Left Maui with 82 degree weather and arrived in Pasco, WA at 11:30 in the evening and it was 7 degrees. I wanted to get back on the plane and return to Maui. Just wanted to thank you for another great 2 weeks in Lahaina. Am looking forward to 2012. Thank you for the great lodging at #624. Hello Jim ~~ Thank you so much for all your advice on what to see & do in Maui. Lynda and I took in whale watching, that awesome production of Ulalena, and a trip down the road to Hana. We walked to town daily, sometimes just to watch the goings on and other times to shop till we dropped. We had a superb meal at Pacific O - yum! We sat on the lanai every morning admiring the beautiful view of the mountains while drinking our coffee and tea. The condo was super comfortable and very clean. Thank you for displaying your wonderful prints. I especially liked the four flowers over the table. I will be sure to contact you again next time I come to the Hawaiian Islands. We will definitely keep you in mind for our future visits to Maui. And we have been passing along your information to friends/acquaintances who travel to Maui. We will definitely try to hit the county fair. I look forward to mingling with the locals. That is one of the reasons we like the Bamboo Club. Not overrun with tourists -- and of course its stumbling distance home ; ) Best Regards, Teri ~~ Minneapolis, MN (8/19/09)
Hi Jim ~~ I realised the other day I never got round to saying thanks for renting your Lahaina condo out to us again and we had a great time. The view from the balcony really is amazing, much better than the ocean view ones - and lets face it you see the ocean every day on the beach! It was also really nice to be able to walk into Lahaina at night without having to worry about parking, and the fact I went shopping almost everyday we were there it really helped being in walking distance! Hopefully we'll be back again sometime! Thanks, Claire and Andy ~~ Wokingham, U.K. (11/20/09)
Jim ~~ It's taken me a bit to get this email out to you. I have been super slammed with a new ABC show since I came back from Maui. I wanted to thank you so much for the GREAT experience we had staying at your condo (#624) in Maui. After an excruciating trip to Maui, all we wanted to do was lay our heads down on a nice clean bed. Our check-in at Lahaina Shores went extremely smooth. Everyone was very helpful and efficient. We walked into your condo and I must say that not only was it tastefully decorated, but refreshingly very clean as well. Just what we needed after a long day of travel. We had a great time staying here and thank you so much Jim for being so helpful with everything. We will definitely be coming back the next chance I get to escape to Maui! Feel free to post this on your website for your review. Thanks so much again Jim! xo Takina ~~ Stamford, CT (10/10/09)
Jim ~~ I enjoyed my stay in #624 this past February 2009. The updates were a great improvement and I wanted to bring the shower and vanity area home with me. I am interested in returning again next February, 2010, but as of yet, I have been unable to find an exact date. As soon as I do, I will be contacting you. Thanks again for a wonderful time in Lahaina. Donna (for the third time) ~~ Connell, WA (3/12/09)
