This modern, beautifully appointed Bastide style villa is set amidst vines in the heritage village of La Bastide d'Engras which lies 15 mins to the north of the historic Mediaeval town of Uzes. To the north lies the picturesque Ardeche and to the south a host of historic towns that stretch down to the Mediterranean Sea. The house is surrounded by the vineyards of the Duchy of Uzes and Cote du Rhone.
Historic sites to visit are too numerous to mention. Try Avignon with its Palace of the Popes and famous bridge, Roman Nimes with its wonderful arena, Arles, Orange and the world heritage site of the Pont Du Gard. Montpellier is a buzzing university city with wonderful individual shops, or drive to the Camargue with its famous white horses and pink flamingoes. For the adventurous Marseilles is well worth a visit for its quay side restaurants and stunning location.
The Villa is immaculately presented with new furniture and stylish fabrics. It is tiled throughout, double glazed for heat insulation and finished with local oak doors. Electric central heating is available for the winter supported by a log fire. The ground floor is open plan and the kitchen opens directly onto the delightful covered terrace which is furnished with teak dining furniture seating 6 people for al fresco dining. There is no need to buy bottled water, as a water softener/purifier gives "mineral water" quality from all taps.
The bedrooms are spacious with co-coordinated furniture. The king size beds have quality cotton linens provided. Bedroom 1 has an en-suite shower room with walk in "Italian" shower, double basins set in a marble surround and w.c. Bedroom 2 has an en-suite bath with shower facility, double basins and w.c.
The 10 metre x 5 metre salt pool lies about 50 metres away adjacent to the owner's home and is exclusively at your disposal. The owners are friendly but discreet and will be pleased to tell you about the local area and make any bookings that you might like. Shopping facilities are available in the next village 3 miles away.
Above all, you must visit Uzes, a Mediaeval gem. Visit the Ducal palace, wander the quaint alley ways and do not miss the the colourful Provencal market on Saturday morning; a real feast for the senses. There are many other markets so please come and ask us.
