Year Purchased: 2010
Why the Owner Chose South Yarmouth: We've always loved Cape Cod, and it's been our dream to eventually retire there. We bought this house to make our dream come true! We plan to move in for good in ten years or so; in the meantime, we're renting during the season and visiting during the off-season.
Built in the early 1950's, the house had been expanded with a large family room but otherwise hadn't been renovated or upgraded. Initially, we planned just to re-do the kitchen. But one thing led to another...and before we knew it, we found ourselves in the midst of a complete renovation project. Except for the floors, almost every surface in the house is new, from the open-concept kitchen/family room to the bathrooms and bedrooms. We completely re-wired and re-plumbed, replaced the roof, installed new doors and windows, and re-shingled the exterior. We added the decks in front and back, and landscaped the yard. We did most of the work ourselves (we're both pretty handy) with help from friends and a few contractors. It took us the best part of three years.
Now the house is finished, decorated, and beautiful. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Traditional Cape Cod charm with all modern conveniences.
