Why the Owner Chose Hood River

Windsurfing brought us to Hood River in 1992. We taught our kids to windsurf here in the summer and snow ski in the winter. Every year we discover more interesting things to do. Our kids are grown, but I still like windsurfing, and we do more hiking, bicycling, golfing and gliding. If a good book and the couch sound better one day, the local vineyards offer wonderful wine tasting, and the local restaurants provide exceptional cuisine to cap-off the day.

The Unique Benefits at this House

Our home offers a sweeping view of Mt Adams to the north, and the Columbia River, with it's never-ending activity. You will be walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Hood River. The home theater system has a large flat screen TV, Blu Ray player, and it connects to the internet for Pandora music or Netflix if you have an account.

A

Owner's Map of Hood River

My wife, Kelly, & I built this home in '95 after feeling a strong connection to Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge. We enjoy sharing our home with folks who also like the region. We do our best to provide a clean, nicely appointed home to our guests. We answer emails and phone calls promptly and we offer concierge-type knowledge to help you fully enjoy your vacation. Beautiful home!!!

Absolutely beautiful home...very spacious! LOVE the layout on the main floor...the fact that it is so open and we could be in the living room, dining room, kitchen and all doing different things and still able to interact with the others! We were on a girls weekend so being able to interact with each other was very important. The view from the deck (which by the way is off of the living room/dining room), was AMAZING!!! We bbq'd on Friday night and enjoyed the view...what an amazing home! The only downfall was that there weren't any paper towels, no extra toilet paper (and 1 roll for 4 women was not enough), no dishwasher soap and no laundry soap to wash the sheets. The beds were very hard and all of us thought they would be more comfortable if they had egg-crate mattresses possibly. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home...we would definitely consider using your home again. :)

Owner response:Thank you for the review. We try to have plenty of toilet tissue and soaps available for our guests, and our cleaner simply dropped the ball, I'm sorry. I like to have guests call me if anything is not suitable and we can get what you need. This is the first I've ever heard about the beds being too hard. The mattresses are somewhat firm, with good support, but we always sleep great on them.

Several of our family members stayed at Gorge Getaway when we were in Hood River for a family wedding recently, and it was perfect. It is well furnished, spacious, and comfortable, with many amenities and beautiful views. Karl was very accommodating and helpful in making arrangements. We certainly would love to stay there again, and recommend it highly.

Convenient and Nice

This house has plenty of space and a well equipped kitchen (no waffle iron though). There is a nice TV and sound system for movie night as well as an assortment of games in the entry closet! It is located in a great neighborhood and is pretty close to the downtown shops and restaurants. We had a great time in Hood River as well as the surrounding areas…there is fun to be had by all.

This house was perfect for us! We met our parents here from Bellingham and the 6 of us had a great time. The view is gorgeous from the patio and there was a nice BBQ and extra gas tank for our use. We especially liked how easy it was to walk to town with our 2 strollers and how many parks to run and play at were nearby. Karl was so prompt in his replies and was glad to answer any questions we had
