What a wonderful place to meet up with family for Christmas. With relatives coming from Portland and Bend this was a great place to gather. We liked the spaciousness of the upstairs area and the beautiful view. We even got snow on Christmas morning. The kitchen was well equipped and had plenty of room for food preparation, serving and seating. This home is in a great location, we enjoyed being able to walk to town. The bedrooms were comfortable and it was especially wonderful to have the 2 bathrooms. This beats staying in a hotel by far! Karl the owner, bent over backward to stay in contact with us and was very friendly. He was very thorough with instructions for entering, use of the TV and wonderful sound system Etc.. We are hoping we will get a chance to stay in this great rental again sometime and would certainly recommend this home to anyone traveling in the Hood River area.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

The house is a wonderful home. It's very comfortable. We did have a couple of issues, but i gave this an excellent rating because the homeowners were so responsive and so willing to fix any problems. I would be happy to work with them again. The home is a little walk to downtown, but not too far to walk if you are in good health. My parents would not have been able to make the walk, but it would have been a really short, quick drive for them.Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.

I stayed here with two co-workers while working in the area. This home was perfect for our needs. The location was great, we could walk west to the Safeway and little burrito stand that we frequent and east to the great downtown establishments. The home was clean and well stocked. Karl was beyond expectations with his prompt communications and exceptional customer service. I would gladly stay here again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children.

My Children from LA, Salt Lake, and Beaverton were all in town for the weekend !!!! It was wonderful being able to put them all in one place. This is a well kept home with all the amenities !!! Great spacious place for family gatherings and then super close to downtown. We were able to walk to downtown for shopping and food, as well as up to the childrens park and then to Mike's Ice Cream. It is a perfect location and a nice quiet street, with very quiet neighbors. We would highly recommend this property, you will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children, age 55+.

Two of my friends and I went to Hood River to check out restaurants and wineries and do some spring skiing at Hood Meadows. What a great place we chose from which to do it all! The house was spacious, with 3 large bedrooms downstairs and a great relaxing and entertainment area on the main floor. The deck provided an amazing view of the river and there were plenty of comfy chairs from which to soak it all in. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need to prepare a gourmet meal. The restaurants, shops and tasting rooms were only a few blocks away.... an easy walk. The owners had left information about the local wineries and restaurants which was very helpful. The trip to the ski area only took about 45 minutes and went past several other great wineries. We checked them out after a full day of skiing. I could see that this house would be great to use in the summer as well for hikers, bikers and wind surfers. The town is full of shops carrying all of the sports equipment that you could possibly need. I am thinking of getting my cousin and his family to come up from California for Spring skiing next year. This is where we will want to be. It's a great place!!Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, age 55+.

The house was perfect for our group's needs. We were participating in a masters swim meet at the nearby aquatic center and just wanted a nice place to sleep, close to downtown Hood River. The owner was very professional and accommodating. The house and view are both very nice. I would definitely recommend to friends and families, and would stay again.Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children.

Absolutely beautiful home...very spacious! LOVE the layout on the main floor...the fact that it is so open and we could be in the living room, dining room, kitchen and all doing different things and still able to interact with the others! We were on a girls weekend so being able to interact with each other was very important. The view from the deck (which by the way is off of the living room/dining room), was AMAZING!!! We bbq'd on Friday night and enjoyed the view...what an amazing home! The only downfall was that there weren't any paper towels, no extra toilet paper (and 1 roll for 4 women was not enough), no dishwasher soap and no laundry soap to wash the sheets. The beds were very hard and all of us thought they would be more comfortable if they had egg-crate mattresses possibly. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home...we would definitely consider using your home again. :)Recommended for: Girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for the review. We try to have plenty of toilet tissue and soaps available for our guests, and our cleaner simply dropped the ball, I'm sorry. I like to have guests call me if anything is not suitable and we can get what you need. This is the first I've ever heard about the beds being too hard. The mattresses are somewhat firm, with good support, but we always sleep great on them.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1995
About the owner: My wife, Kelly, & I built this home in '95 after feeling a strong connection to Hood River and the Columbia River Gorge. We enjoy sharing our home with folks who also like the region. We do our best to provide a clean, nicely appointed home to our guests. We answer emails and phone calls promptly and we offer concierge-type knowledge to help you fully enjoy your vacation. Karl Hadley
Why the Owner Chose Hood River:
Windsurfing brought us to Hood River in 1992. We taught our kids to windsurf here in the summer and snow ski in the winter. Every year we discover more interesting things to do. Our kids are grown, but I still like windsurfing, and we do more hiking, bicycling, golfing and gliding. If a good book and the couch sound better one day, the local vineyards offer wonderful wine tasting, and the local restaurants provide exceptional cuisine to cap-off the day.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our home offers a sweeping view of Mt Adams to the north, and the Columbia River, with it's never-ending activity. You will be walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Hood River. The home theater system has a large flat screen TV, Blu Ray player, and it connects to the internet for Pandora music or Netflix if you have an account.
