Primrose Cottage, a Designated Heritage Home approved by Nova Scotia Tourism and Culture, was built in ca. 1863 by master mariner Captain William Greenwood. The house has recently been restored and is situated on seven park like acres with 525 feet of water frontage and access to the Annapolis Basin, a large Bay off of the Bay of Fundy. Pets are NOT allowed. NO SMOKING!
The house is available year round and has a large eat-in kitchen, living room with antique furniture and a grand square piano (somewhat in tune), a formal dining room and a den. The upstairs feature three bedrooms, a large bathroom and a large family room with a picture window overlooking the grounds and the Basin with the nearby lighthouse. Off the kitchen is a spacious deck, which offers beautiful views of the water.
The Port Royal Habitation, the earliest French settlement in North America, and now a museum, is nearby. Nearest town is Annapolis Royal (population 663) , a charming little town of gracious large homes, colorful gardens, and broad tree-lined streets, situated around Fort Anne, built in 1623, and a national historic site. The town and area offer an array of unique shops, inns, 16 restaurants, artists' studios, galleries, a live theater, cinema, a heritage theme park, and a colorful Saturday morning market during the summer.
