Magnificent Ocean View, Large Private Beach House
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:No

A large, private, three bedroom, two bath, house with magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean. Each bedroom is luxuriously appointed. The living room and dining area have a truly incredible six window view of the Pacific with white water waves crashing over exposed rocks. The house has a fireplace and two wood stoves, a well equipped kitchen and a large deck for enjoying the sunset. In addition to the three bedrooms is a cozy loft and quiet areas to read and relax.
You'll be a five minute walk to lovely Agate Beach, part of the Duxbury Reef Preserve. There you will find access to the Pacific Ocean, a quiet beach area and tide pools perfect for nature explorers of all ages. Nearby is also Bolinas Beach, a great place to play in the sand or take a surfing lesson from the Bolinas Surf School. A short drive by car is Stinson Beach and Point Reyes.
Close at hand are some incredible walks along the coast, including some trails into the southern end of Point Reyes National Seashore. During your stay you can also explore historic Bolinas. Founded in the 1850's, Bolinas has long served as a weekend getaway for San Franciscans, though in earlier times they would arrive by boat. Bolinas remains a great retreat and maintains a local culture shaped by the 1960's counter-culture movement.

We came here for the third (or fourth?) time and it was wonderful as always. We love the killer view from the living/dining room, the privacy and spaciousness of the downstairs unit, the nice walk down to Agate Beach, and the lovely deck (weather permitting!). The kitchen is well-appointed, though we always bring our own knives to rentals. This year we brought our new baby, so the high chair was much appreciated! Bolinas is a really special place, and it's close to adventures as well. My husband did a lot of surfing and I rode my bike down to Stinson and up Mt. Tamalpais. Heather's always been fantastic to rent from - thanks again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

My family enjoyed a weekend in this very large and well-quipped house. The home is comfortably furnished and it was easy to sit and read, take a nap, or prepare a meal. The property was very well maintained and clean. It had satellite TV and wireless internet which was great. All the fixtures were up to date, and the heater worked well on cold nights. The photos on the webpage are exactly what you get. The owner was incredibly kind, helpful and responsive. The wrap around deck provides stunning views of the ocean, and the sound of the waves was very soothing. The air was sweet with salty breezes and pine. Deer came around to graze the lawn at dusk. We saw a fox, and I did some great bird watching and star gazing from the deck. We walked to Agate Beach, just five minutes away. and explored fascinating ocean life in the 2 miles of tide pools revealed at low tide. The little town of Bolinas has tremendous character with colorful locals and mangy dogs wandering freely. We enjoyed a good dinner at the Coast Cafe. It's a tiny town, but packed with activity. The locals have managed to preserve the rural flavor and to halt development to keep it small. I'm told they tear down any road sign pointing to Bolinas. The state has stopped putting up a sign because they keep getting cut down. Stinson Beach 5 miles south of town is also a wonderful place to explore, shop and eat. This whole area was a slice of heaven. Hard to believe it's a mere 20 miles from San Francisco. The winding coast highway drive lets you feel that you are really leaving it all behind as each curve reveals breathtaking views of forest and ocean and cliffs. It's a slice of heaven.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We stayed at this house for a weekend and it was wonderful! The house is clean, simple, but very comfortable and tastefully decorated. The location cannot be topped I think, Ocean view all around and nicer than directly at the main beach in my opinion, but close to another beach as described. Since there are windows all around it's nice to stay inside during any weather, but our kids played on the sunny porch all day. We came with three children and nanny and it was comfortable and spacious. Only a small complete bathroom on the main floor, but this was totally fine for us as a family. I would go back and absolutely recommend it.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

If you're looking for a relaxing getaway spot, this is it ! The setting is absolutely spectacular, close enough to the ocean for a view from most windows, yet far enough for absolute peace. I was only there for a weekend but could have easily stayed much, much longer. The house is tidy and well-maintained and super cozy. I loved the soft sheets, copious blankets and clean, fluffy towels. And the kitchen is impressively well-stocked. It's obvious that the owners have put a lot of thought into making their guests as comfortable as possible. I especially appreciated the binder of useful information about the house, including how to operate the tv, etc., and how to get around and what to do in Bolinas and the surrounding area. The bracing walk into town and brunch at the Coast Cafe was a highlight, for sure. Nothing beats the semi-wild scenery and ocean air of the northern California Pacific coast. The weather was absolutely spectacular as well, hardly a cloud in the sky all weekend. I will wholeheartedly recommend Bolinas House to anyone I know looking for a perfect retreat from the stresses of the city !Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1

We stayed at Bolinas House in August and had a blast. The house is huge with beautiful views and lots of privacy. Located in a rustic little neighborhood right on the edge of the coast we enjoyed watching the boats go by from the panoramic windows and large deck. My husband and I enjoyed the suite on the first level with it's own bathroom, fireplace and outside access with deck. Our youngest promptly set up her room in the loft above the livingroom and loved being able to peer down at us. The kitchen was fully stocked and we had everything we needed to enjoy some local cheeses, bread and produce. We enjoyed warm fires, walks to the beach, day trips to Point Reyes Station and Stinson Beach but mostly just loved the big comfortable house and the little town of Bolinas. A hidden gem that reminded us of a town from the past that just never chose to move into current day. The little museum is a must for local art and has a whole room dedicated to the history of Bolinas. Such a colorful and interesting past! We loved the laid back vibe and found the locals to be friendly and their dogs, that mostly roam free, to be a quirky and fun addition to the experience. We thouroughly enjoyed every aspect of our visit and plan to return in the future. Thanks Heather, for a relaxing and unique vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were very pleased your home was available during our vacation time. The Bolinas area was fun to explore, the Duxbury Reef at Agate Beach was a unique experience, and we found your home to be welcoming, well-equipped and down-right relaxing. We left feeling renewed and rejuvenated with lots of family memories... flying the kites, guessing song titles, eating fresh crab with San Francisco Sourdough bread and relaxing on the beautiful deck with a good book. This was our first rental through VRBO. We found Heather to be very organized and wonderful to work with. One of our friends and a relative visited us at the home while we were there. They'd like to schedule some time at the house as well--I just hope they remember to invite my husband and I!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We had the most amazing time last weekend at this house for the double birthdays of my husband and father-in-law. Our 8-year-old son came with us and this house was so accommodating and perfect for our family! We barbecued Tamales Bay oysters on the grill and played corquet in the backyard (once the rain finally stopped). It was a rainy weekend, but it certainly didn't stop us. We walked down to the tide pools and saw plenty of starfish and hermit crabs. The house itself was very clean and organized and well maintained. With 3 bedrooms and a loft, we had plenty of space for our family. And the ping pong table was a highlight of our weekend! Everything that you could need is in this house. The area of downtown Bolinas is very friendly and charming and we had great meals at Coast Cafe and Farmhouse. We will definitely be back! Thanks Heather for being so organized and accommodating!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Dear Heather, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with our family this weekend! We had two AMAZING mornings at the Minus Tides. It was so convenient to roll out of our (very comfortable) beds in Bolinas and walk just 5 minutes to our 6am Pt. Reyes Field Seminar at the tidepools at Duxbury Reef (HIGHLY recommended btw)! The views are truly spectacular from your Bolinas House, we spent a lot of time in the dining room and on the porch just enjoying the breathtaking vista. We loved how well-stocked your cupboards are, thank you so much for remembering all the little touches that made us feel right at home. The boys loved the loft, were overjoyed to find your "secret" toy box, and adored having deer come visit right in your yard throughout the day! We look forward to returning the favor at our home-away-from-home in Tahoe Donner! Please come visit Bruin Woods when you are able!
