Relax on a large deck (with a complementary bottle of wine) and enjoy the fantastic views of the Nottley River and distant mountain peaks. New in April 2005, Cedar Chalet on paved, dead-end road that offers privacy, peace and quiet. Property goes down to the Nottley River 200 feet below the Chalet. The river is great for trout fishing and we have just installed steps all the way to the river. From the deck you have a year around view of distant mountain peaks. At sunset we have seen several Canadian Geese, deer, and turkeys come out or land in a large field across the river.
All bedrooms have a view of the river with a large sliding glass door in the master bedroom (King bed) that lead onto the deck. The upstairs bedroom (king bed) has its own private deck. The large family room has wall-to-wall glass windows and sliding glass doors that provide a fantastic view without going outside. A stone rock fireplace with gas log is at one end of this room. The dining table can be extended for seating six and two bar stools provide additional seating on the back side of the cabinets.
The Chalet has almost 2300 sq.ft. The basement has a bedroom (double bed) a bathroom, a sitting area with gas log fireplace, a sofa bed a card/game table and a full size pool table and TV. Two single roll-away beds are also available in the basement. A double glass door opens onto the lower deck with a swing. A six person Hot Tub is on this deck with a great view of the river. Thirty feet below lower deck is a fire pit with panaromic view view of river. A sun deck is 20 feet below the fire pit.
Situated between the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forest, this area offers an outdoor paradise. Nearby attractions are Lake Nottley with boat rentals and boat ramp only 5 miles away. Lake Hiwassee is about 12 miles, Anna Ruby Falls, Georgia (three-fourths hour), Appalachian Trail (two-thirds hour), Alpine Village of Helen, Georgia (two hours), Atlanta, Georgia (one-and-one-half hour), and Cherokee Indian Reservation (two hours). A large Flea Market is three miles away. A newgolf courseis 6 miles away. Another course in Murphy is about 10 miles away and has a nice resturant. Two others are 20 miles away.

Though we live in Murphy, we had a number of guest coming in for motorcycle riding in the mountains. As we all have full size Harleys, we wanted a place with a paved driveway yet close to home, as Murphy is the perfect starting point for great riding. BJ's could not have served our purpose any better. Easy access in and out for the bikes. The house is fantastic, and the view overlooking the river beautiful in the morning mist. All the primary needs for guests are available in the house. Just bring your clothing and food stuffs. We were able to show our guests all the beauties of our area in a wonderful setting. Would highly recommend to anyone, and especially those looking for some great riding.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We had an awesome week at BJ's Over the River! The chalet was even better than expected. My daughter, sister, niece and myself totally enjoyed our girls week and plan to make it a yearly event i possible. We will definitely want to come back to BJ's. The chalet is very large and spacious and very well kept. We did travel down the steps to the river and I can tell you it is a hike back up. The hot tub saw a lot of use. Mainly we just relaxed and enjoyed each others company aside from a white water rafting trip a Paddle Inn which we highly recommend as being reasonable, professionable and fun. We also took a day trip to The Lost Sea in Sweetwater, Tn. I will gladly recommend to everyone that BJ's is the place to stay.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL, SO RELAXING. MY HUSBAND, MYSELF AND OUR 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER ENJOYED OURSELVES, THE VIEW WAS DIFFERENT EVERYDAY, AND THE CABIN WAS LIKE BEING AT HOME, BUT WITH THE HOT TUB AND POOL TABLE, WE ALL HAD FUN. THE BEDS WERE VERY COMFORTABLE, AND THE CABIN HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED, HOPE TO GO AGAIN NEXT YEAR TO SEE MORE FALL FOILAGE.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We had a wonderful time, my husband caught around 42 trout during the week for the river behind the house. 22 of them were keepers and we had a great fish fry one night and brought a few home. He was caught by surprise by the rising tide the first day. The house was beautiful and the view was great. We rented a pontoon boat on Lake Hiawasse and spent an entire day there. That was the clearest water I've ever swam in. We went to the Flea Market, A Field in the Wood, Helen, GA, The Lost Sea, Consuga Falls, and the Wagonmaster Adventure Ranch. Those are the nicest people ever. My husband took his four wheeler over to Davenport and Bryson trails in Blairsville. He enjoyed that. I would love to visit your home again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have visited the Murphy and surrounding areas many times for many years staying in many different rental homes / cabins. Your property is clean, very well maintained and decorated, not too far out, and close in enough to have short travel times for day trips. Access is very good, NOT steep grades with gravel drives, and is entirely paved. Great access for day trips and plenty of room to maneuver vehicles without tight access or corners. Bill & Joyce Clifton are very kind and courteous individuals. It was a pleasure to be able to meet and talk with them and rent this lovely property. The walk back UP from the river is about twice as long as the walk down.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I visited BJ's with my husband, sister, and three friends. We had a wonderful time and made many happy memories at BJ's. We spent evenings playing cards, ping pong, pool, and relaxing in the hot tub on the porch. The river winds by directly in front of the cabin, which overlooks a field that is usually filled with turkeys. This cabin is just close enough to town to be convenient, and just far enough away to be perfectly private and relaxing. We explored Murphy, rode along the Cherohala Skyway, visited Wayeh Bald, breakfasted at the Dillard House, visited the Foxfire Museum, and much more, and we were able to do so by driving a little way through some beautiful countryside. Mr. Clifton is very kind and courteous, and it was a pleasure renting this lovely property from him and his wife, Joyce. I would recommend this property to anyone and everyone. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions about my stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We got lots of rest and relaxiation (which is what we wanted at BJ's Over the River). The views, the birds and Turkey's were a delight everyday to enjoy from the deck. Thanks for letting us stay in your cabin. We had a wonderful time. We loved watching the geese fly into the field across the river. One of the most beautiful sights was when the fog rolled in and stayed over the river. We got some great pictures. God Bless You.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
