This private, mountain retreat is only four miles from the Central City/Black Hawk gaming casinos, 30 miles from Denver's endless attractions, 22 miles from Eldora's quiet skiing slopes, and only a few steps from trout fishing on North Clear Creek. Bordering Arapaho National Forest on two sides of the property, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, and ATV/four-wheeling opportunities abound.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park is just minutes away with miles of trails and stocked fishing ponds. Gold panning can be experienced on the stream right outside the door, with lessons available just down the road. White-water rafting and mountain rock climbing can also be enjoyed nearby. Gilpin County's new recreation center, just a few miles away, has an Olympic-size pool, indoor track, basketball court, weight room, and numerous family activities.
The historic Central City Opera House has a schedule of outstanding performances throughout the summer and is less than five minutes away, and Red Rocks Amphitheatre is a mere 30-minute drive. The abundant Denver area attractions vary with the seasons from Rockies Baseball to Broncos Football, Elitch's Six Flags Amusement Park, numerous museums, and the restaurants and shopping are always fantastic!
This chalet-style home has the added charm of a wood-burning stove in the family room (wood furnished). You will find this home is equipped with all the conveniences of home. Comfortable beds (to sleep up to ten) include a king-size bed in the master bedroom along with an added twin sofa bed, a queen-size sofa bed in the lower-level family room, a queen-size sofa bed in the living area on the main floor, and three twin beds in the loft. A portable crib is also available.
Added amenities include a washer/dryer, coffee maker, microwave, phone, satellite TV with VCR and DVD upstairs and downstairs, completely furnished kitchen (electric appliances - skillet, blender, slow cooker, mixer), dishwasher, spices, kitchen towels, gas grill, deck table and chairs. All bed linens and towels are provided.
You will find the home to be fully furnished and nicely decorated. Bring some groceries and a couple of changes of clothes, and let the fun begin!

We had a wonderful time at this cabin. The river access was fantastic and the cabin was awesome with all the comforts of home and more. There are numerous activities for young and old within minutes. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a mountain getaway. Thanks so very much!!!

Just wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed staying at the Hummingbird Nest. We found the red food coloring, made the birds some sugar water, and enjoyed watching them for hours. The place was just right, not too big and fancy but very comfortable with a wonderful location. I was looking for some much needed R and R and it really fit the bill, under the pine trees and next to the water. I loved it! We would really like to find something like it for our own retreat someday. You guys are so lucky to have it. We also took your suggestion and went into Central City/ Blackhawk to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July. They were fantastic! Thanks again for a wonderful place to stay. We'll keep you in mind the next time we're looking for a retreat in the mountains.

This place is great. I recently stayed there and highly recommend it for a place to get away and relax and enjoy nature. It is very quiet and yet not too far from civilization so that you feel isolated. It was wonderful and I hope to return again some day.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hummingbird Nest!! Its very cozy and well appointed, and the mountain stream flowing by within a few feet of the cabin adds so much to the "relaxation factor". The location is great - close to Denver, Blackhawk, hiking/biking trails at Golden Gate State Park, Golden, etc., and yet has a secluded "feel". If you are looking for a great place to unwind and relax, you found it!

We had the pleasure of spending a week in Hummingbird Nest for the occasion of our son's graduation from Denver University. With 4 grown children and 2 spouses in various parts of the country, it was a great place to gather and celebrate as a family! We hunted and found 3 geo-cache's in the near vicinity with spectacular views in each place. The Kuders called us twice while we were there, to make sure we had everything we needed, which made us feel like family! We'd love to go back some day! Thanks Deanna! Dr. and Barb Sharma

i am a ceramic tile contractor from out of state. i work long hours while out of town working. this gorgeous place is exactly what was needed to make my 'home away from home' a real Home. many thanks, furnished like all the other VRBO's i've stayed in. only better. none of the others have a creek for my 2 Golden Retrievers' to cool off in after a long hard day at 'Play' many thanks.

This house was just beautiful. The place made you feel so comfortable the minute you walked in. The owners were so helpful and kind. It was close to all the activities that we wanted to do. We are sure to stay next year.

-A week in mid March 2006 for some spring skiing was just what the Dr. ordered. Hummingbird nest was a pleasure! Comfortable, cozy, secluded and affordable. The foot of snow we got made it a winter wonderland. The Kuders were super to do business with and their son Jason who lives nearby was very helpful. We'll be back and recommend it highly! I was fortunate enough to have stayed at the Hummingbird Nest over the Labor Day Holiday this year. This charming little cottage was comfortable, well furnished and appointed and was absolutely delightful! It is private, comfortable, cozy and yet large enough that we didn't ever feel crowded. I was also impressed at how well stocked it is. All we had to do was bring our groceries. We spent many hours on the deck, relaxing while letting the sounds of the stream below us wash away the worries of the world outside. It was truely a joy and I intend to go back again and again.

I stayed at the Hummingbird Nest this weekend and had an amazing time. I planned a reunion with college friends from the midwest and they were very impressed with the house and the surroundings! We talked for hours on the deck overlooking the stream and made a great dinner on the grill! I'd recommend this place to all my friends and family!!
