Wide open great room (living room-office area-kitchen-dining area) with laminate and hardwood flooring; two sofas; steel desk, cable TV, internet connection. Separate utility room with washer and dryer. Spacious two car garage. Cleaning of linen and towels are included; tenants should clean their dishes and tidy up but should not wash linens (housekeeper will wash). No pets or smoking indoors. All persons must register with names and addresses - no more than 8 people allowed. If there are more than 7 people, there will be a charge of $5 per extra person per night.

About: I am a Distinguished Research Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Cincinnati. I was born in Hilo (Kilauea Avenue), attended Waikeawaena Elementary, Hilo Intermediate, Hilo High, and the University of Hawaii at Hilo. I went on to continue my studies at Syracuse University, and did post-doctoral work at the University of Chicago and Bryn Mawr College.
Why Hilo: This is my Hilo home, which I purchased from my uncle when he moved to the mainland. It is on the property that my grandfather brought up his family, which was originally on one acre. My uncle built this house in the 50's and it now sits on 1/4 acre of the original property of my ancestors.
