Quick and easy access to the University of Arizona, the convention center, downtown Tucson, historic places from the old Arizona Territory
Year Purchased: 2006
About the owner: Norman has lived in Tucson for about 35 years. He and his wife, Mary, raised their three children here with a special recognition and connection with the Desert, the University of Arizona, and the blend of cultures that make up this Old Pueblo.
He has always enjoyed the unique history of Tucson which was founded by Spain before the United States became a nation in 1775. It is a special place between the very Southern tip of the Rocky Mountains coming down from Canada and the US and the very Northern tip of the Sierra Madre Mountains that have come all the way from across Mexico.
Norman bought this very special B & B because of its historic location, magnificent view, and its wonderful place in the heart of Tucson.
Norman has been a hospice chaplain for the past 16 years, sharing with Tucson families, their history, their stories, and their lives and times in the Sonoran Desert.
Norman wants to bring this history alive in the experience of staying at his place, or he can just leave you alone to enjoy the mountain views and peace and quiet of this place.
Why the Owner Chose Downtown: Yes, we have newer and more modern resorts in Tucson with gyms, and spas, and we are glad they are part of our community. But our place was built 60 years ago when Tucson was much smaller, simpler, but when the builder had first choice of locations to locate on the side of 'A Mountain', downtown, in the heart of Tucson.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Because the property is located high above downtown at the western edge of Congress St., it gives a wonderful perspective of living in the desert.
The stars at night give a spectacular view, a veritable show at night of shooting stars. Tucson has always been recognized by astronomers as a place where the dark night sky is protected for those who want to see and appreciate the milky way.
In the summer time, it is possible to watch the monsoon thunderstorms sweep across the desert with spectacular lightning shows, and towering cumulonimbus walls that climb to 50,000 feet in the afternoon and then diminish to gentle evenings, spectacular rainbows, and summer breezes in just a few hours.
In the winter months, Tucson is recognized as a place for warm days and comfortable evenings with dry air most of the time. With a wide variety of cultural events, sporting events as we are close to the University of Arizona, spring training, academic resources, theater, downtown pubs, wild life, hiking, history, and many other activities that make this a wonderful place to visit and enjoy the Sonoran Desert.
