Recently remodeled 1920's Craftsman Style Bungalow with all you'll need for a great vacation. The home features hardwood floors, lovely windows and trim and the original fireplace with built in shelving. The sun room offers that quiet spot for reading or contemplating your navel. Interesting art throughout the house make it feel like home rather than a sterile tourist setting. Two bedrooms, both with very comfortable queen size beds. Full bath has been recently remodeled and had a fabulous shower head. Plenty of plush towels provided to help you feel pampered after a hard day of exploring. Kitchen is charming and outfitted with all the basics you'll need so you can cook that salmon you just bought at the Pike Place Market in style. Small dishwasher. From the kitchen walk out to the patio where you can enjoy a late afternoon glass of wine shaded from the warm sun- we may even join you one day! You'll love the long summer evenings of the Northwest- you can walk home after dinner well before dark. Washer and dryer are in the basement and free to use. There is a small apartment in the basement which is used part time by us- the owners. There is excellent insulation throughout to ensure your privacy as well as ours.
The main bedroom has a ceiling fan and lots of light with a large double window. All windows open. Nights are rarely hot in the northwest, although we can get an occasional warm spell, so air conditioning is not a necessity.
The second bedroom also has a queen size bed. They are not dissimilar in size and share one bathroom that is in between them. ...moreless

Wallingford is located at the northern end of Lake Union which borders downtown Seattle. We are less than three miles from downtown- a nice walk or bike ride. The house is also very close to the University of Washington, again, an easy walk along the Burke Gilman Trail which is a 27 mile long rail to trail project for walking, biking, skating and people watching.
This is a semi urban residential neighborhood that offers great restaurants within easy walking distance including two that were recently named the best new restaurants in the United States! (Reservations required and I'd recommend you make them as soon as you've booked our house!)
We are just a few blocks to Fremont, one of Seattle's more colorful neighborhoods- the self proclaimed Center of the Universe and home to a wonderful Sunday Market full of local artists and craftspeople.
Other local attractions include the Woodland Park Zoo, home to an excellent summer concert series, Greenlake- for yet another great walking trail, and the Ballard Locks where commercial vessels, yachts and fish all manage to get lifted from the salt water of the Puget Sound to the fresh water lake system.
We're on the number 26 bus line which will take you downtown in no time. You'll have easy access to all that Seattle has to offer from the Pike Place Market to the new Ferris Wheel to the Space Needle, Seattle Center, and too many museums to list. Seattle is a cruise ship terminal where visitors from all over the world board ships to see the grand sights of Alaska and the Inside Passage.
If you love hiking in the mountains, we are surrounded by National Parks include Mt Rainier Nat'l Park, Olympic Nat'l Park and Mt Baker National Park, among others. Some are close enough that you can take a drive and a hike and be back here the same day. For those who want a good workout we recommend Mt Si- about an hour outside of Seattle.
Water sports are everywhere from kayaking and paddle boarding on Lake Union (you can walk there) to sailing and wind surfing on the Puget Sound- you may even bump into one of our Orca Whales if you don't keep a good lookout!
We love our neighborhood and are happy to share all we know from our many years here. Seattle is a very special place!
Year Purchased: 1983
About the owner: We are travelers at heart and are excited to make our home available to people coming to our city. We spent 14 years sailing around the world and have been back in Seattle for about ten years. Our next dream is to build a small energy independent home on Guemes Island in the San Juan Islands of the northwest. We're working on that project now, but still have our sailboat which we enjoy sailing in the islands every chance we get.
We've often rented through VRBO and always have had wonderful experiences living in a more authentic way than hotels offer. Now it's our turn to make our home available to travelers and welcome them to our world.
Why the Owner Chose Wallingford: We've owned this property for over 30 years and love our home dearly. We're entering the VRBO world as a way to keep our city home as we build our island dream house.
The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow: Location, location, location! We are indeed ideally situated to enable you to see our city as you'd like to see it. Seattle is known for it's bungalow homes in charming and eclectic neighborhoods. This is your chance to see what it's really like to live here in that ideal setting. Perhaps the thing you'll like best of all here is the Essential Baking Company- just around the corner and home to the best bread and pastries the city has to offer.
