Anyone who has been to London will tell you that two of the most popular neighborhoods to stay in are Nottinghill and Kensington. Nottinghill was made famous by the movie of the same name, starring Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. This mews house is located a few blocks away from where the movie was filmed.
Find yourself surrounded by trendy restaurants, shops, and market. There is also where the famous Portobello Antiques Market takes place on Saturday mornings, the daily open market where you can buy fresh flowers and foods around the corner, loads of trendy restaurants, brasseries, and cafés, just like the movie Nottinghill depicted.
Step into this pretty mews home from the cobblestone paving outside. In olden days, the mews were the small streets where the horses and carriages were parked and they have all been converted into beautiful and popular homes. In some mews, you can look up and see the full-size door on the upper floor, where hay was loaded. In many mews, the garage doors are visible on the ground floor, where the horses and carriages were stabled.
Enter this modern mews house to find Bedroom #1 on your right, with two twin beds, large closets, and dresser. It is very quiet and sunny.
The study is on your right and has a comfortable sofa which can convert into a sofabed. The study leads to Bedroom #2 which has a high quality single bed with second single as a trundle underneath it.
Next on your left find Bathroom #1, with large ‘power shower,’ sink, and toilet. There is also a full-size washer and dryer.
Walk up the stairs to the first floor to find oakwood floors and a spacious living room, dining room, and kitchen. Everything has been recently remodeled and furnished with excellent taste. The kitchen has long counters in gray granite and every appliance needed for cooking for a large group, including refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, serving dishes, porcelain dishes, etc. The window above the sink overlooks the trees at the back, very pretty.
The living room has two large Victorian windows in the front and one large on in the back, all dressed with heavy cream colored curtains, something the English are famous for. You overlook the quiet mews from the front, a pretty sight. It is hard to believe that around the corner you are in the middle of one of the most popular areas of London.
The room is sunny and a warm and wonderful place to relax in at the end of the day. Two black leather sofas face each other for easy conversation. There is a dvd player, VCR, top of the line stereo and comfortable seating to enjoy your stay. An antique oak desk sits under the back window to allow you to work if you need to.
The dining room is separated by a large doorway from the living room and can comfortably seat eight for dinner. The table is in modern glass and iron; seats are colorful silk and contrast nicely with the pale cream curtains.
Upstairs find the master suite, with spacious bedroom, sitting area, en-suite bathroom, and private terrace. The bed is king-size and extremely comfortable. The L-shaped room allows for a small seating area with sofa for relaxation and privacy. A French door leads to the small terrace where you overlook the other houses on this quiet mews and can enjoy a café and The Times (the only Times as the English feel) on a summer’s morning.
The en-suite bathroom has bathtub with shower, sink, and toilet; they are all new.
Our Mews House is located on a private mews just off of Kensington Park Road near Elgin Crescent, truly in the center of Nottinghill. The area is very secure and quiet because it is on a small private street, closed off by wrought iron gates and accessed by digicode. Step outside the gates and find yourself surrounded by the cafe's, shops and restaurants of Nottinghill. You can eat out daily or shop for food and cook at home.
Sorry, but smoking and pets are not allowed. We think this is one of the prettiest apartments you could rent in London and you will have a delightful stay here! |
