AKALA PUA (Pink Hibiscus) is a brand new (2005), three bedroom/three bathroom oceanview Kauai rental vacation home at Poipu Beach, Hawaii. It is located just 100 yards from the sparkling, blue Pacific Ocean and just three minutes stroll to either white sand Baby Beach or Lawai Beach.
From the moment you enter the front door of this Kauai rental vacation home and are greeted by lavish tile floors and a lovely landscape painting by noted Big Island artist Ezra Muir, you know you have arrived at one of Poipu's greatest values. Quality like this is usually reserved for the multi-million dollar beachfront homes. Combine that quality with a great location and you have AKALA PUA!
Walk upstairs in this Kauai rental vacation home to whitewater ocean views from the large great room that includes a brand new modern, fully-equipped kitchen with granite countertops, a dining table for eight, and a sumptuous living area complete with 27 inch TV, DVD player, and CD player/stereo. Furnishings are the best South Pacific decor available. Outside is a roofed lanai for al fresco dining or just relaxing in the gentle tradewinds while listening to the breaking waves.
Downstairs in this Kauai rental vacation home are two nearly identical master bedroom suites complete with king-size beds and beautiful bedroom furniture, private bathrooms with tile floors and wainscoting, plenty of closet space, and cable TV. The third bedroom has two twin beds that can be made into a king bed and a bathroom across the hall. The mattresses are firm and plush and the carpet feels like sisal. There are sleeping arrangements for up to six people maximum.
A laundry room with washer and dryer and a one car garage complete this Kauai rental vacation home. A large rear lawn is home to a gas barbecue.

- Washer : There is a separate laundry room with washer, dryer, sink and cabinets. We try to supply plenty of laundry soap, bleach, and fabric softener sheets.

- Linens Provided : All linens are provided. We use good quality white bath linen and bed linen. Beach towels and kitchen towels are also provided.
- Garage : There is a one car garage with garage door opener.
- Off Street Parking : There is room for two more cars on the beautiful grass-crete driveway.

- King Bed (2) : There are two Cal-King beds, and all the beds are comfortably firm.
- Twin/Single Bed (2) : There are two twin beds in the third bedroom that can be combined into an Eastern King bed for an additional $25.
- Crib : Cribs and high-chairs are available for rent from www.readyrentals.com. They deliver and set up sanitized cribs with nice mattresses and a sheet, and they remove it when you leave. And their fees are very reasonable.

- Lanai (2) : There are upstairs and downstairs lanais. Both are about 100 square feet. Upstairs is a table and four chairs.

- Ocean View : The upstairs living room and lanai have nice ocean views with some white water views. Huai Bay is just four houses west of the house, and Poipu's Baby Beach is about 10 houses from the house around the end of the block.
- Mountain View : The upstairs has a nice mountain view as well as an ocean view.
- Ski-In : Just kidding!! :-)

- Telephone : There are three telephones, one in the kitchen and one each in the master bedrooms. Local calls are free, but please bring your cell phone for long distance calls.

- The best activity on the island is a boat tour of the Napali Coast, and this is available through a number of boat companies. There are also helicopter charters for touring the island. Waimea Canyon can be accessed by car and takes about 1/2 day.
Rate Details (In US Dollars)
2011 Low Seasons Rental Rate:(9/3-11/19 to 12/17/11) $250/night.
2012 Rate: $275/night. 2012 Low Seasons Rate $250/night (4/9-6/15 and 9/3-12/14)
The only other costs are 13.25% Hawaii tax and a $225 cleaning fee.
Minimum rental is 7 nights (14 at Christmas) unless there is a "fill-in" vacancy.
Full rent, tax, and cleaning fee are due 60 days(90 days at Xmas) prior to arrival
$1000 refundable security deposit is required within 10 days of reservation.
Reservations are made directly with the owner. This house is managed by a local
Kauai Realtor, a member of the Hawaii Association of Realtors and the BBB.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
We bought the lot a few years after hurricane Iniki while the cost of lots was still low because it offered us the opportunity to help vacationers experience a really wonderful house in a good location at an affordable rent. This house is a couple of houses removed from the water, and the rent is less than half of those houses less than 100 yards away! This is really one of the best values in Poipu. It is not the best house in the best location, but it is a great house in a very good location at a fair and affordable rent.

Best of all, the open living area promotes family gatherings with places to sit and "talk story", but with plenty of room for everyone to have adequate space.
One of the finest restaurants on Kauai. Make your reservation prior to sunset!
Not too much beach, but good snorkeling. People mostly lay on the lawn in front of the Beach House Restaurant
People ask about the construction in Poipu. This is the site of the new 300 unit condominium under construction. it is about 1/2 mile from our house and not a noise or traffic problem

Aloha from Jim and Valorie Wisda. We live most of the time in Palos Verdes Estates, California where we raised a wonderful son and daughter. We have been coming to Poipu since 1970 and no matter how often we travel to other places or countries we visit, like this picture in Thailand, we always look forward to coming back to Poipu several times a year.

It's been a great 2-1/2 weeks on this little piece of heaven. Thank you for letting us rent your house. We pretty much saw and drove the entire island, snorkeled anywhere we could and came to the conclusion that Lawai Beach is the best!!! We will miss this place, the house was just right for us. It was great that Baby Beach is so close; our 2 and 3 year olds wanted to be there all the time! Beautiful property, everything you will need and more is provided in this 5 star house!! The hose is stocked like a Costco.... Just stop at Costco on the way and fill the frige and you will be set, Beautiful Baby beach around the corner, fantastic sunsets from the beach, shot with Palm trees in the forground... We have spent two wonderful weeks in your lovely home and on this beautiful island of Kauai. It was a great family time with anniversary & birthday celebrations. Enjoying this lanai mornings and evenings, the beautiful weather, oceand & mountain views, listening to the rain---so very relaxing. And yes, we did plenty of eating, thanks to our good chef, also some wonderful dining at restaurants.
