Our chabby chic Cape cottage is situated on a very quiet residential lane that is right off of Main Street Centerville and close by to Osterville. Neighbors are respectful and friendly with our road being a safe and relaxing area to do your evening or morning walk or run, or to take a bike ride with your kids. Our home has a very welcoming front porch with both an inviting bench swing and dart board. Inside you will feel relaxed right away as you enter the airy, open floor plan. Simple white walls and light oak floors throughout the house maintain that beach-y, laid-back feel. The main sitting room greets you with high ceilings and antique beam ceiling details with sky lights and numerous windows that allow for plenty of warm, bright light. Sit back with feet up in the couch or chairs to enjoy a cozy fire in the fireplace while simply lounging, reading a book, or working on a puzzle. The adjoining dining room area easily seats 6-8 people at our handmade custom farm table that is perfect for a lobster dinner or a mean game of Bingo for quarters! Our custom built kitchen with soapstone counters and farm sink is an easy pleasure to cook in. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything that is needed. We have a stainless steel Viking stove and oven, oversized stainless fridge, Keurig coffee maker, blender, microwave, toaster, and dishwasher. Open one of the sliding doors off the kitchen or sitting room to enjoy a drink or a meal on the deck that has Adirondeck style high table and chairs for four, and two lounge chairs with cushions for easy late day napping. Feel free to light up the grill on our deck, or take a stroll down our dock to enjoy the sunset as the view of Scudder Bay is breath taking every evening. If you rather, take a gentle cruise through the bay on one of our sea kayaks to watch the local bird population of white cranes, swans, osprey, and great blue heron, or take out our two cruiser bicycles to town or for a simple, exploring ride. Once you are exhausted from your gorgeous Cape Cod day retire in either the master bedroom that offers a queen bed that can sleep 1 -2 and an adjoining half bath equipped with washer and dryer. The master bedroom has a walk in closet as well as an armoir for plenty of clothing and storage space. Linens and towels all included. For more sleeping space, there is a guest bedroom off of the main sitting room with two twin beds, a large closet, and two bureaus for plenty of clothing and storage space. The guest bedroom also has it's own half bath with a large antique claw foot bathtub, and it's own linens and towels as well. If there is more sleeping space required there is a full sized pull out couch that is located in the airy and sunny screened in porch. The porch is adjacent to the sitting room and the master bedroom and is also used as the TV den area as it is equipped with a flat screen TV, DVD player, and basic cable. All bedrooms and the porch room have ceiling fans for use although the entire home has central AC and heat if desired. There is also WiFi throughout the entire home, but for peace and quiet at our vacation home we have no land line and no stereo. A door in the porch den/TV room leads to the secluded outdoor shower that allows you to feel the bay breezes and listen to the many birds of the area while showering outside. On our front deck we have beach chairs for use and beach towels are located in the guest bedroom, as well as life jackets for the kayaks. The home is airy, casual, and so relaxing. Right away you will feel at home and that is exactly the way we designed it - so enjoy!

Our house is our family treasure - one we have enjoyed for many, many years, and we look forward to sharing our special spot on Cape Cod with you and your family. Welcome!
Year Purchased: 1991
About the owner: I grew up on the beaches of the North Shore so I have always had a love for living near the ocean. As a child, my husband Pete, would drive with his family every summer from New Jersey to Centerville where they would rent a small summer home near Craigville Beach. We have always savored the beach town vibe and we feel so lucky and blessed to own our own summer house in lovely Centerville. Along with our two children, we have had many years of treasured memories here as we regularly escaped the bustle of the Boston area to our beloved Cape house as much as we could. For our family, our Cape home has been our peace, our joy, and a truly special place that we love.
Why the Owner Chose Centerville: Pete bought our home in 1991 when he was a bachelor. He had always wanted to come back to the area of Cape Cod where he had so many amazing childhood memories so he jumped when a local friend told him 373 Bay Lane was up for sale. The house was left to the Conservation Society by an elderly couple when they passed away. The Society then sold the home to Pete. As soon as he bought the home Pete right away went to work on it. He completely gutted and renovated the house and created a more spacious and open feel to it's layout, while maintaining it's original Cape Cod style charm. Pete is an artist and a craftsman so all of the woodwork and design within the house have been done by him. Since Pete and I have been married we still enjoy building furniture for the home together and renovating the home a bit more every year. The home is truly our little piece of happiness. We have recently moved cross country and our children are in college so we can no longer spend entire summers at our house as we have been lucky enough to do for many, many years. But we want to open up and share our special spot for others to relax and enjoy as we know how special it is. But we still plan to come back for all our future vacations to our Cape home in the fall when the Cape is still stunning. But in the meantime - our house is your house, so come relax and enjoy!
The Unique Benefits at this House: We love our home for it's unique energy to make everyone who walks in the front door to immediately feel relaxed. But it is our view from our back deck and our dock that is truly magical. We are situated on Conservation Land right on Scudder Bay so there is a deep sense of privacy and seclusion, while you savor the beauty of the water and the trees. The birds that love our backyard reeds are stunning to see and hear. The home is so comfortable and casual with such natural beauty enveloping you that the spot we are situated on truly feels like a hidden gem. But it is also in an easy and convenient location so you won't feel isolated if you don't want to be. We are so close to the beaches -both Craigville Public Beach and Resident Only Dowses Beach are a 2-5 minute drive. And we have a beach sticker for use for both beaches as well as all Barnstable beaches. We are also within walking distance to the incredible Four Seas homemade ice cream, Centerville library, playground, and General Store for penny candy. All the holiday summer parades are also within walking distance to nearby Main Street. Walk down our road and you have two public tennis courts and a baseball field for use anytime. If you need some fine shopping and dining, downtown Osterville is a quick drive up the road for lovely clothing boutiques, Five Bays, Crisp, and Wimpy's restaurants, as well as Fancy's local market for fine meats, cheeses, wines, and delicacies.
A five minute drive will take you to more bustling downtown Hynannis for more shopping, dining, movies, music, and the Cape Cod Mall. Public golfing, driving range, and mini golf are also close by in Hyannis. Paddle board rentals, fishing charters, or boat rentals are also all close by in Osterville and Hyannis. We are also central to the Hyannis airport, train, and island ferries. So the choice is yours to either kick back and relax, or create a new adventure every day that is close by. It is simple and easy Cape living.
