We fell in love with Kate's Place from the photos online and after reading some of the reviews, felt that it was where we wanted to spend our week in Naples. We were right, we absolutely loved our time there, the location is perfect, just minutes from everything we went to Naples for, yet relaxing and secluded so we could enjoy hours on the lanai or out in the charming, beautifully landscaped and cared for yard. We weren't fortunate enough to see any manatees or dolphins, but enjoyed the birds and boats on the water and fishing from the dock. Kate truly did all she could to make our stay special and it is quite easy to make a stop for some groceries and have everything you need to live there. I can't say enough wonderful things about our visit, see you next year Kate, thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

After being back home for a couple weeks now, we can't help but look back fondly on our week at Kate's place. From the minute we arrived we knew we had made a great selection for our week in Naples. Mornings drinking coffee on the desk were most relaxing. You get the feeling you are in a secluded paradise but yet minutes to everything Naples has to offer. Kate has outfitted the property with everything a vacationer could want; bikes, beach chairs and umbrella, maps, fishing gear and very comfortable furniture. Oh, and did I mention the key lime pie? We will definately stay again if we're lucky enough to make a return visit to Naples again next year. On a scale of 1 - 10 I give Kate's property an 11!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We have returned back home to NC two weeks ago and still continue to reminisce about 'Kate's Place'. What a truly "MAGICAL' spot to celebrate our anniversary & my birthday!!! And as far as our shih tzu, Oliver ... an 'adventure' every day! The ambiance of the apartment & surroundings, the flora, the views from every room...and let's not forget the sunsets, WOW!!...We pictured ourselves on any 'tropical island'...it was all far more than we could have imagined... Kate didn't 'skip a beat' in providing all that we could want or need to make our stay a "WONDERFUL' memory for the 3 of us!! Until the next time, Kate...Thank you!!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We spent a week at Kate's Place, and it was great. Spotlessly clean, everywhere - even my wife was impressed (not an easy task). Extremely roomy, with a huge screened in porch. The dock set-up was great; I kept my 16 ft. flats boat there all week, literally steps from the porch. Everything worked flawlessly, from the Wi-Fi to the grill. We kayaked and fished, went to the beach, and shopped downtown. The farthest we drove was a 30 minute trip down to Everglades City; everything else is literally minutes away. I would recommend Kate's place to anyone I know, even the "picky" ones. Kate made sure we felt welcome, and the Key Lime pie she made for us was delicious. She was available every day, and even took time out to mark some fishing spots on the HER map; which she loaned to me for our visit. During our boating outings, we saw: Manatee, dolphin, bald eagle, leopard ray, wild parrots, and many other birds. It's not only a fishing paradise, but a bird-watching paradise. I saw snook, trout, redfish, jacks, ladyfish, black drum, mangrove snapper, tarpon... caught a few but spent most of my time exploring Naples Bay and surrounding mangrove islands. Many great spots to eat, but specifically enjoyed Tony's Off Third, Jimmy P's Butcher Shop & deli, Blueberry's, the Olde Naples Pub... so many good places with great seafood. Some of them can be a little pricey, so check the menu before you go in! Thanks again to Kate for making our week fantastic. We will be back, no doubt.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Kate's place was a very pleasant getaway. Watching the boats coming and going on the river and experiencing the beautiful sunsets just about every evening was a great experience as well. Kate is very personable and goes out of her way to make her guests feel comfortable. The apartment setting is very comfortable and well-stocked with just about everything you might need. Having a freshly made key-lime pie waiting for us when we arrived was not something I expected -- a special touch. Kate's place is a great location from which to visit The Everglades, Naples Botanical Gardens, Corkscrew Sanctuary, and the beach. We had a great time and would recommend Kate's place to anyone visiting Naples. An extra bonus, we could bring out dog with us.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Kate's place is absolutely perfect. My husband and I spent our Christmas holiday there this year, and we can't recommend it enough. The gardens and views from the dock are magical, the apartment is welcoming and nicely decorated (the pictures don't do it justice), and the place is fully equipped with anything you could need. I cooked a number of meals indoors and out without a hitch. My aunt, who lives in Naples, even joked that she would like to rent it as a little vacation hideaway. It really is beautiful spot, and I can't think of a better warm-weather destination for Christmas. And the key lime pie is delicious.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I almost hesitate to recommend this place because I want to come back next year and I don't want it to be booked!! I stayed here for three weeks in November/December 2011. What a great apartment and I hated to leave. Kate has done such a wonderful job decorating the inside and landscaping the outside that it truly felt like home. This ground floor apartment has one of the most relaxing settings that I have ever seen. Just steps away from the water where you can sit on one of the many different decks and watch boats go by, watch the many birds or even some dolphins on one day. The apartment has a fully stocked kitchen (better than mine at home), a great living room with lots of windows overlooking the water on two sides, cable TV, nice bathroom and very quiet bedroom with a large closet and great bed. There is a huge screened porch that goes the length of the house, or sit outside around the fire pit or cook a meal on the gas grill. Be sure to bring your computer because it also has Wifi that is very fast. In addition, you will even have a garage where you can park your car. The best part of staying here is getting to know the owner, Kate. She goes out of her way to make your stay truly amazing. She will be around if you need her, but goes to great lengths to give you as much privacy as you need. Kate has tremendous knowledge of the Naples area and is ready to provide you with recommendations on restaurants, shopping, beaches, etc. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Kate's place is exactly as pictured. It is picture perfect and in perfect condition, not to mention, spotless! The home is located in a quiet neighborhood, on a dead end street, and the only noise I heard were the sounds of the boaters going by and the fish jumping in the lake surrounding the property. There are countless seating areas outside and also an oversized screened in porch. Everything is there for your use, coolers, beach towels, chairs, and fishing poles. Enjoy! You won't be disappointed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Hi, We spent seven nights in this unbelivable home set in a quiet garden with nice water views. The location was central to everything in Naples. Old Naples a few minutes away. The unit was tastefully decorated and was supplied with everything we needed. The owner went out of the way to see that we were comfortable. we could not have asked for more. Highly Recommened! PS, even an enclosed garage was supplied.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Kate's place was wonderful. Kate was extremely accommodating and worked around our hectic last minute schedule. We were greeted from a long overnight drive with serenity and a homemade key lime pie! .We were able to easily put in our boat nearby and have it ready to go in the water, just outside of window the whole trip. Although Kate lives upstairs, we could not hear a thing and she could not hear our crying and screaming baby. Everything that Kate provided was excellent quality from the Charmin toilet paper to the Bounty Paper Towels and Bath and Body Works soap. She even provided laundry detergent, beach towels, fishing poles, etc....my only complaint was the surprise of no dishwasher with all of our baby bottles, we did not know ahead of time to bring a disinfector for them, but there were paper goods for the days that we were lazy and did not want to wash extra dishes by hand. The grill was super nice and we LOVED the wooded swing, especially with the baby. The deck was beautiful and we loved the large screened in porch and watching the fish jump at dawn and dusk. There is also an amazing, huge aquatic center about 15 minutes away with slides and springboards for those that want to go to the pool. If you bring your boat, there are some beautiful beaches on the bay side that are calmer than the west side in a couple of locations. Our best meals were the ones that we cooked on Kate's grill, but next time we will try some more restaurants...there were some nice ones in the town that looked very nice. We tried a couple of touristy ones on the water with great views, but the food was not great. We had great BBQ at famous Mickelbob's by the airport. Anyway, this is a long review, but Kate's place is wonderful and cozy and the furniture is nice and comfortable too.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A wonderful 2 weeks at Kate's Place. You don't have to fish or boat to enjoy this little slice of heaven. The apartment is spotless clean and provided with anything you might need -- including things for cooking, BBQ's, going to the beach, fishing, biking, evening bonfires, or just hanging around. Close to restaurants, 5th Avenue, the Zoo, and the main road leading to everything else. The gardens surrounding the place are absolutely awesome, like out of a magazine. Sitting in the shady garden with a book is about the most relaxing thing ever. Nature abounds, and we even saw a dolphin swim by one morning. Kate, herself, is an absolute gem and delightful hostess. We felt so welcomed. We could've moved in permanantly, existing on key lime pie. Alas, we had to return to reality and 10-inches of snow at home. You will think you are dreaming when you spend time at Kate's Place. Highly recommended ! Thanks for the terrific memories, Kate!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway.

Kate's place is incredible; more beautiful than the photos, and is quite simply "paradise found". Surrounded by water, the outdoor spaces (deck, dock, firepit/conversation area) and of course, the comfy porch, are extensions of the living space that truly offer peace and serenity and make you feel as though you are home (only a way better home!). The apartment is spacious, sparkling and exquisitely comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked, well laid out and filled with all the necessities and then some! The living room has huge windows and a sliding glass door that make you feel as though you are living outside. Thoughtfully and beautifully decorated it too is "stocked" with a media center, dvd's, an Ipod dock/player and well placed lighting. There's also a "party cabinet" between the living room and kitchen with - I kid you not- the most awesome wine opener I've ever encountered, plenty of various wine and cocktail glasses and everything you'll need for happy hour (just byob). The serene bedroom and very comfortable bathroom complete the indoor spaces. Beach chairs, towels, umbrella, coolers, candles, oil lamps etc are all provided - as is a washer/dryer. But actually, the thing that really makes this place paradise found is Kate herself. She is the perfect host: accomodating, caring, thoughtful, friendly - and she knows how to let you be in your "own" space. I can not say enough good things about Kate - other than I will return to her wonderful home whenever I can for as long as I can! For places to eat, check with Kate and you won't go wrong. We ate at the Mangrove Cafe and it was terrific, and reasonably priced. Citrus, was also terrific, although more expensive. For a splurge try M Cafe (about a 15 min. drive). Food stores (Publix) and a CVS are 3-5 min. drive away. There's plenty of walking in the neighborhood and beaches are 5-7 min. drive; bring plenty of quarters to park near sunset beach, or park a few blocks away for free. We also did a day trip to Sanibel and Captiva Islands which were lovely. Fergus & I went to Dog Beach in Bonita Springs (great off leash beach and dogs can swim!) and to Delnor-Wiggens State Park (Naples). Dogs can't go on the beach there, but can walk on the trails right behind the sand dunes. Then again, you might just want to stay put and enjoy the paradise found at Kate's wonderful home. We stayed from 12/19 to 12/27 and it wasn't nearly long enough! -Maggie & Fergus & BrendaRecommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a wonderful find, Kate was so lovely and really made us feel at home. The property is write on the water being on a main artery canel in old Naples. It was wonderful to sit on the dock and watch boaters pass by and do a bit of fishing I even caught a small Snook! Kate has nicely furnished the condo and has left quite a bit of local info etc by the way of guides and maps. There is fishing tackle that you can use in her garage where you even park your car! The lounge even has a stressless leather chair which my wife enjoyed. Cannot find any fault with this property and the host. The return visit to Kate's place for the Vision Sciences conference was even better than the first. Kate was amazing: she even had a fruit, coffee, and muffins waiting, given that I had to arrive quite late (after all the stores were closed). She and the place were hits with everyone who visited, giving us a splendid place to have an informal gathering on the dock as the sun set. This was a perfect choice after many visits to impersonal Congress hotels. We enjoyed the privacy, nearness of water and nature. Kitchen was well equipped and we were able to cook ourselves. Fish was delicious, Kate gave us a marinade recipe. This apartment was neat and clean. We even had a chance to look at Kate's beautiful home upstairs. Great hostess. Our family has been vacationg in Naples for the last 15 years. During this time we have stayed various upper end hotels in the "old" Naples area. I can honestly say that this was the best vacation we have ever had in Florida. Kate's place offers a truly unique experience that cannot be possibly found at any local inn or hotel. The accommodations offer privacy in a natue like setting in a beatfuly decorated and clean small home. You can sit outside and read a book surrounded by beatiful landscaping. Then if lucky you will be distrated as occasional dolphin swims by, or waiving at boaters as they go by. We are boating family from the Great Lakes. We brought are small center console boat with us and tied up to Kates dock. Our days where filled with exlporing the beatiful waterways and going to remote beaches that only the locals know about. When finished sunning or fishing we typically boated to local restaraunts at Marco or in Naples Bay. For you boaters up north its worth the effort bringing your boat to Kates Place and explore as our family did. I can not finsih this comment with out giving Kate a pad on the back. My wfe and I found her to be a sincere down to earth person who now call friend.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I didn't realize that it had been almost a year since we stayed at Kate's Place (July 2009), and we are yearning to return. What a wonderful place to stay for a few days or a month. We love getting away to Naples, but after staying at Kate's Place, we no longer want to stay at a hotel. The accomodations are very comfortable, and having a full kitchen makes vacationing simple. At Kate's we can fish and go boating, or just hang out and chill. Kate herself is not only very accomodating, but one of the nicest ladies you would ever want to meet. I can hardly wait to see her agin!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

January 2009 found us in exactly the same spot as in January 2008 - at Kate's Place. We had wondered why only Boaters & Fishermen should dream of this place when it equally applies to wildlife watchers, food & wine guzzlers and photo enthusiasts.....that would be us, then!Mentioning food guzzlers, Bob was able to watch, from 10 feet away, a yellow-crowned night heron, catching and then devouring a whole crab(including the shell, legs and stuff that dropped off) by the light of the lamp by the fire until nothing remained. As usual, 'the boys' were back (13 pelicans, give or take), settling in for the night on a different set of Australian Pines than last year, dropping 'depth charges' into a different part of the creek. Sometimes this is described as fish jumping - well....maybe!Every morning, a kingfisher dives for its breakfast from a tree over-hanging the little creek by the dock. Re-assured, we go into Kate’s spotless kitchen to make ours.As for excursions, we were very impressed by the sunset on the Gulf (aboard the ‘Naples Princess’, 10 out of 10), our visit to the Corkscrew Swamp and our once weekly visits to the Everglades area.So....what about January 2010.....go again? Sure thing, it’s already booked!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent 2 happy weeks in January at Kate's 'Little Spot of Paradise' and cannot wait to return next year if Kate will have us.The apartment is spacious, spotless and very comfortable and the outside sitting area, varied and flexible for any weather.Like everyone else, we watched the boats go up and down the creek and every evening, at around 5pm 'the boys came home' - about a dozen pelicans spend the night in Kate's Australian pines. At low tide we saw herons, kingfishers and what appeared to be Kate's pet Anhinga, which duly obliged us for sunset pictures. Ospreys frequently flew overhead. You do not need a boat or to fish to enjoy a wonderful holiday at Boater's and Fisherman's Dream.Although we liked being only 5 minutes from the 5th Avenue South restaurants we found that we used the prepared 'food to go' outlets more than usual to enable us to spend more time at ‘Kate’s Place’ to watch sunsets, wildlife, drink wine, etc. Although it must be said that our observational prowess rapidly deteriorated as the evening wore on. We hope that many people will discover Kate's place, but not at the same time as us.....please!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Wow! After vacationing in numerous locations in Naples over the years, "Kate's Place" is by far the best! My husband said to me the first day, "you've hit a home run this time". Not only were the accommodations perfect and clean, the privacy is unbelievable. There are so many nooks and crannies in the beautifully landscaped yard. I loved reading in the garden swing. Beautiful native plants and flowers are sprinkled throughout. Cute bottles and candles delight hidden in the bushes and trees. Blue herons, egrets and pelicans are plentiful. I think all of Naples pelicans returned to Kate's trees at night. Several tiers of docks provided sun or shade at all times. Fishing off the dock was fun. A local fisherman offered us freshly caught fish off his boat. He even docked and cleaned and butterflied the fish for us on Kate's "fish cleaning" dock. We shared with neighbors for great h'ors doeurves. Many delights await in the neighborhood all within walking distance. "Bayshore Coffee Company" was our morning walk for fresh quiches, egg sandwiches, scones & muffins. Wonderful restaurants for all tastes are located here and are delicious and reasonably priced. After a full day in beautiful Naples, we couldn't wait to sit on the dock watching the sun slip behind the trees having our cocktails. Friendly boaters would wave as they returned from their day. Kate has done a fantastic job with her property. She's a treasure and we were so lucky to have met her. She provided everything we needed. We'll be back!!Did you find this review helpful? I fell in love with “Boater’s and Fisherman’s Dream” as soon as I saw that picture, I mean the one taken from the water with the deck, dock and palm trees The more luxurious apartments I had checked before lost interest … they did not appeal to me any more …Kate’s place was just what I wanted for my mum’s and my vacation .I relaxed and I felt happy only when my reservation was confirmed and thanks to Kate’s promptness everything was easily settled .My expectations kept on growing together with the usual doubts which always accompany my great enthusiasms Doubts vanished when after a long flight and a few hours driving I finally got there to that “secluded oasis” close to Naples Fifth Avenue Kate welcomed us opening our garage door and introducing us the whole house, our cosy apartment, the facilities … and immediately we enter into a fascinating, magical atmosphere … Smiling Kate tour lasted not very long, less took us to feel comfortably at homeAh, by the way, I am a travel agent in Italy, I have been travelling through USA for more than twenty years and by now I suppose I am quite able to judge if and when a vacation is really worth it, being at Kate's means to enjoy comfort and peace on every day of your stay It has been three weeks since I got back to my country and more and more I miss “my” dock in the sun, the water around, the jumping fish, the herons and egrets in the mangroves, the pelicans on the trees above me lying in the sun, the friendly waving boaters … the wonderful time I spent there. Before returning to my actual reality and leaving my sweet memories, I do like to tell all of you my mother and I have already planned our next and longer vacation at “Boater’s and Fisherman’s Dream” so, I warn you not to dare make any reservation before I have made mineDaniela and MumDid you find this review helpful? Having just returned from our stay at "Kate's Place", all rested, tanned and happy as clams (not on the half shell), we want to say that we felt we had dropped into a little bit of heaven on earth. From our hostess, who seemed like an old friend from the minute we met, to the fabulous surroundings, there was nothing more we could have asked for. The joy of seeing the pelicans nest in the trees above, made us think- "We're not in New York (Kansas) any more.". The home was emaculate and all that was provided for our use was astounding.
