RATTLER RANCH, NOW 100% SOLAR POWERED!
Come enjoy the expansive space of the beautiful Mojave Desert at Rattler Ranch.Situated on 5 acres (along with owner's house), and is NEVER OWNER OCCUPIED, unlike many properties on VRBO.
The Casita de la Senorita at Rattler Ranch, is fully furnished and decorated by the artist/owner, and is known for its' quiet and privacy. Rattler Ranch has quickly become a favorite of the many visiting artists, musicians and writers, in the tradition of U2 and Gram Parsons - for accomplishing their creative work, or just kicking back. It is also popular with first time desert visitors, and veteran desert lovers alike.
The Casita De La Senorita, has one bedroom with a queen bed, sitting room with one twin daybed, dining/sitting room with wood burning stove, and really comfortable queen sofa bed, full kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor patio with dining table and chairs, barbecue, & burn barrel "hobo hotty" to keep you warm for nighttime stargazing.
Outstanding views of the boulders on the north edge of Joshua Tree National Park, Mount San Gorgonio, the Bullion Mountains, and the wide open spaces of the Mojave will calm and inspire you.
Rattler Ranch is beautifully landscaped with ocotillo, palm trees, cactus, desert willows, elms, sycamores, smoke trees, desert pines, and many other desert plants.
From Rattler Ranch, you can hike directly into Joshua Tree National Park on a trail 1 mile down the dirt road. The property abounds with wildlife - jackrabbits and cottontails, roadrunners, desert tortoises, coyotes, lizards, and dozens of quails that spend their nights roosting in the palm trees.
World famous Joshua Tree National Park is nearby (2 miles to the Visitor's Center), for rock climbing, hiking, and touring. The town of Joshua Tree has several eating establishments, a health food store, visitor's center for the Park, outdoor equipment & climbing suppliers, art galleries, a saloon, and gift shops.
In the nearby town of Yucca Valley you will find a cinema, more restaurants, and antique shopping. The Twentynine Palms Inn has an excellent poolside restaurant on a desert oasis, 20 min. away from Rattler Ranch. Also worth visiting is historic old west Pioneertown, as well as Pappy and Harriet's Saloon, for fine barbecue eating, and great live music.
Joshua Tree also has 2 music festivals, held over a three-day period every May and October - the Joshua Tree Music Festival, and the Joshua Tree Roots Music Festival. The last 2 weekends in October feature a studio tour of local artists. And, of course, the springtime wildflower bloom is very popular. So check them all out, and stay at Rattler Ranch. Great place to hang our hats while we explored Joshua Tree. Beds were comfy & warm enough to sleep with the windows open & feel the crisp desert air across our faces while we slept. In the morning, the sounds of the quail & cactus wren woke us. It was great to set in the old patio chairs in the yard sipping coffee in the morning & wine at night & watch the parade of wildlife - birds, cottontails and even a coyote (but no tortoise!). Dinner at Pappy & Harriets one night & 29 Palms Inn another - lots of fun, but also plenty of kitchen space to cook our own meals with ease. thanks so much.

As a writer, I'm always looking for small and perfectly arranged spaces that make room for thought. "Mustang" is just such a place. I'll be back!! PS I'm a Willie Nelson fan, so I especially loved the homage to him in the kitchen. PPS My artist friend, Marianetta, loved this place and your work! Thank you for enhancing an already rich experience.

Bob's Birthday Waking up to a warm cup of coffee, the sound of hummingbirds & Wilco on the stereo, and the smell of campfire in your hair is a delightful thing. Thanks for the charcoal and the amazing rtreat. Here's hoping these dirt roads bring us back to you soon! Thanks for the hospitality and the directions to the back door of J-tree Park. A glass of whiskey at sunset, followed by a gallon of water, an older man smiling in the desert sun...

Once again, what a wonderful visit! Henry and I love coming out here for our anniversary and I can't believe it's been 3 years now. Thanks so much for fixing the DVD player and, as usual, everything was perfect. We'll see you again next year, if not before. xoxo

We will not soon forget the moment we looked across the desert horizon to see a full giant blue moon rising over the mountains on New Year's Eve 2010. A magical moment in a beautiful house with our three year old dancing in the twilight. We will be back many more times in this new decade. thank you - peace.

This was our first trip, and hopefully not our last, to the beautiful Joshua Tree area! The Mustang is far enough away from the bustle, but close to conveniences. Peace, quiet, nature. thank you!
