As a writer, I'm always looking for small and perfectly arranged spaces that make room for thought. "Mustang" is just such a place. I'll be back!! PS I'm a Willie Nelson fan, so I especially loved the homage to him in the kitchen. PPS My artist friend, Marianetta, loved this place and your work! Bob's Birthday Waking up to a warm cup of coffee, the sound of hummingbirds & Wilco on the stereo, and the smell of campfire in your hair is a delightful thing. Thanks for the charcoal and the amazing rtreat. Here's hoping these dirt roads bring us back to you soon! Thanks for the hospitality and the directions to the back door of J-tree Park. Great place to hang our hats while we explored Joshua Tree. Beds were comfy & warm enough to sleep with the windows open & feel the crisp desert air across our faces while we slept. In the morning, the sounds of the quail & cactus wren woke us. It was great to set in the old patio chairs in the yard sipping coffee in the morning & wine at night & watch the parade of wildlife - birds, cottontails and even a coyote (but no tortoise!). Dinner at Pappy & Harriets one night & 29 Palms Inn another - lots of fun, but also plenty of kitchen space to cook our own meals with ease. thanks so much.

We will not soon forget the moment we looked across the desert horizon to see a full giant blue moon rising over the mountains on New Year's Eve 2010. Our first night of our road trip was spent at la Senorita. For a senorita of the desert, her harshness and tough skin never presented herself. Rustic beauty, peaceful gazes and majestic serenades is what she gave us. Now we gallop next door to the Mustang and onwards we travel through the desert. Shy, friendly Lucy, your adorable rescue dog. Strawberry-rhubarb pie at Pappy & Harriets. Wood-burning red stove. Silence. Moroccan CD at night, adding to desert mystery. We loved it as twilight neared. The soft cooing of the doves. The family of quail flittering across the dirt road and loudly settling in for the night in the palm branches. Going to bed with the clear night dotted with stars. Then to begin again with the beautiful amber sunrise. The flowers were amazing with the canary yellow meadows as far as the eye could see, ending in the mammoth rock formations with their delicate beauty of color and texture. A quaint comfortable private sanctuary.

What comes around goes around, or is it the other way around? Anyway, it was so great to hook up again after all these years, and then to find out you've settled down in one of my most favorite places in California. Zuzana and I loved your cabin. Your many talents are obviously on display in the decor of the Mustang. What a wonderful and cozy place you have created. And the desert wasn't bad either. Beautiful sunny days with more flowers blooming than in my small garden in Berkeley! I never tire of this place. It's different every time I visit but always breath taking. We'd been here for about 20 minutes when I started calling the Mustang "home", like, "Oh, let's just make dinner at home tonight." I'm on the patio now, early morning, being serenaded by the most psychedelic bird sounds and being inspected/ignored by a handsome hummingbird couple. The turtledoves are nesting on top of the AC and coo throughout the day. The desert looks like a neon yellow bouquet, shot through with lilac.... What an utterly lovely place - thank you so much for having us.

The Mustang bungalow has kept me going through an Alaskan winter. I've been dreaming of it since I found you last March. Sleeping in the desert on the patio is the best, second only to the cabin's cool colorful interior. Joshua Tree Park is the new treasure in my life and we were out in it every day. Christmas morning, The wind shrieked last night - the desert is alive. It's so good to be back (from the wet & foggy north). We loved the red barrel cacti that squat like persons in the landscape - the quail nestling in for the night in the palm fronds - the shiny red stove! Thank you Diane & Happy New Year!

Wow, what a place you have created here. It has those touches that only an artist would know how to do. Gisele and I loved our time here. From short hikes in the park to meeting artists in their studios. But best of all was spending time here at the Rattler. Moonrises and sunsets. Our favorite memory will be sitting above the cabins and having the quails surround us as they nested in the palms. All in all your little oasis has been a huge find for us. We will share with friends, but for sure, we'll be back to see you.

What a private and secluded oasis this is! We are grateful for the weekend to set somewhere and introspect and extropect simultaneously.
