Two bedroom bungalow on stilts in beachfront gated community "Hermosa Bungalows." Located directly behind a full-size pool with direct views to the Pacific Ocean, and a short barefoot walk of less than 200 yards to a beautiful black sand beach with outstanding surf. Our bungalow is fully stocked to make your stay a truly memorable vacation. We take pride in offering our home as a welcome retreat for families with children, couples on an adventurous getaway, or groups just looking for something different than a hotel room. You can't beat staying in this 1000 square foot home compared to a hotel!
Ecotourism and surfing are huge attractions to this part of Costa Rica, and the beach directly in front of our bungalow complex is one of the best on the Pacific. The bungalow features two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two twins, and a queen sofa-bed in the living room. A portacrib is also available. The kitchen is large and completely stocked with amenities. The bathroom has a vanity with mirror as well as a large shower.
Our bungalow is only one of a few in the complex with a newly installed additional water filtration system and tank to ensure clean water for our guests, an important feature during the rainy season! The furniture is custom-made from native woods and there are bamboo black-out blinds throughout for ultimate privacy and for those who like to sleep in!
We trust you will feel relaxation washing over you as you sit on the balcony looking at the beauty around you. You can enjoy the views from an expansive balcony which is furnished with rocking chairs and an outdoor dining table, or from our hammocks on the ground level facing the pool. The pool is directly in front of the bungalow so there is a combined pool/ocean view during the day, and at night we're one of only two bungalows in the complex with the lighted pool in front of us to add to the warm ambiance.
A charming tiki hut at the far end of the pool often is a meeting place where visitors get together to share their stories and enjoy a peaceful retreat. On-site managers are extremely kind and welcoming to all of the guests and can be a resource of information for activities to consider during your stay.
Tropical birds and iguanas are frequent sightings from the bungalow, and macaws are often heard and seen flying overhead in the late afternoon. A wildlife estuary is adjacent to the bungalows and is a dream location for birdwatchers. Large sea turtles are known to come up on the beach to lay eggs, and a turtle expert who lives down the road often has night tours to view the turtles. Incredible wildlife is also seen at Manuel Antonio National Park, less than an hour drive south.
There you may see white-faced monkeys, sloths, koatis, iguanas, and several bird species. Also at Manuel Antonio are beautiful, calm beaches great for a day trip and picnic. The Carara National Park is only a 20-minute drive to our north. It is a sanctuary for wild scarlet macaws, and toucans have also been spotted there. Self-guided tours as well as hired guides can be taken at both parks.
Playa Hermosa on the Central Pacific Coast is a premier surfing site. Surfers meet under the "Almendro" tree on this secluded stretch of beach to enjoy world-class surfing in the warm waters of Costa Rica.
Many surfers use our ideal location as a "home base" from which to visit the many excellent beaches along the central Pacific coast. Surfboard rentals for the day or week are easy to obtain in Jacó. Many people have taken the opportunity to learn how to surf in Jaco's calm waves, while the more seasoned and expert surfers hit the surf at Playa Hermosa.
The town of Jacó is a 5-minute drive to the north, where you can find restaurants, bars, surf shops, and markets. Excursions (ie. ATV, rafting) can also be arranged in town. Fishing, boating, and snorkeling trips are available from the marina by the Marriott Los Suenos 5 minutes north of Jacó. The Marriott also has an excellent golf course. You can't leave Costa Rica without taking a canopy tour, one of the most exhilarating experiences you will ever have. Yes, you will fly through the jungle with just a harness and a cable!
