We enjoyed our stay at this villa which is located within a quiet gated property of 7 villas. From our lanai we were visited by a sloth in the tree right beside the deck, hummingbirds, a "flock" of 6-7 toucans and a very cool tree frog one night. The titis also came by the pool daily. The pool was a very nice place to cool off and was relatively quiet. We often had it all to ourselves. A few good restaurants are located close by and there is no need for a car here as the bus can be caught just up the street which will take you to Manuel Antonio one way and Quepos the other way. Taxis also pass by the main road frequently. The villa was very clean and kind of "cottagey". Donna, the property manager, was very helpful and friendly and made everything easy for us. A great place to stay at a great price!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Casa del Chaman is a very comfortable 1 bedroom apartment located on the second floor of the Casa overlooking a great pool with lots of beautiful flowers on the property. During the week we were there we had monkeys jumping through the trees and we also had a sloth come to visit near the pool. It is in a great location with convenient access to all kinds of restaurants and beaches nearby. It is a very quiet environment with only 8 villas on the property many of which are owned and/or have repeat visitors. We were fortunate that there was a villa available for rent. We highly recommend this villa to anyone who wants a tranquil environment with a great pool and easy access to everything Manual Antonio has to offer. Many who stay here do not have a car and use the local buses to get around.Owner response: As this guest mentioned, the villa is very comfortable and in a convenient, but quiet, location. Being that is backed up against the forest, lots of monkeys and other animals come to visit. I just want to clarify that these guests only rented the upper Deluxe level with one bedroom, but Casa del Chaman has a lower level as well with another bedroom and bath. So you can rent one level, or both.

Our daughter, Bernadette, who lives and works in Quepos, generously provided several days of comfort, relaxation, quiet and security for us via Casa Del Chaman; a perfect transition to Costa Rica. I am happy to report that this villa was more than satisfactory. Our living space was situated on the second floor, overlooking a well manicured garden paradise, including a forever pool. Everything, including the Air conditioner was in good repair. The property was tastefully decorated, very clean, and well stocked to feel like home. I would definitely recommend this property to a friend or relative.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our time at Casa del Chaman was the best ever! We are two relative active 72 year olds and found this unit suited our needs perfectly. It was easy to get to and from Quepos and MA. We did both. We chose to eat in most of the time (fresh fish in Quepos) and the kitchen had all we needed. Leaving a too-busy life at home, we savored the privacy and total lack of need for a schedule. The monkeys did indeed put on the promised shows. The pool was "ours" for an evening swim. The porch with sliding doors accommodated the outside temperatures very well. Donna, the manager, was there for any assistance needed. We not only have recommended this unit to others for future consideration but we would return any time we are in CR. Life was very easy at Villas Chaman.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Casa del Chaman is a great place with a great location for people of all ages - as this review demonstrates. But no matter what the age, this villa suits the desires of people of all ages. Its quiet, private but secure location allows you to just hang out and enjoy the monkeys, pool and tree top porch, or take advantage of its easy access to the bus and head to the beach or into Quepos. It is a pleasure to serve people who truly make the best of this special place.

My husband and I and 2 teenage girls stayed at Casa del Chaman for a week in April and we were very happy with the place. Our kids stayed in the lower unit and were so thrilled to have their own little apartment, plus my husband and I had the upper unit to ourselves. This way at night my husband and I were alone, but during the day we could all hang together upstairs, cook meals, eat and sit out on the fabulous deck - and see monkeys too. We loved the location because it is so close to the bus stops to the beach and into Quepos. We did not want to waste our money renting a car, and this place worked perfect for that. It took us less than 10 minutes to walk to the bus. And there are no steep hills to climb either and the road to the bus has lights and even a sidewalk. Plus there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The manager, Donna, was very accommodating and helped us to book tours and made other recommendations. That was wonderful because she knew the best tour companies and this saved us alot of time figuring all of that out. The house is at the back of the Chaman community, so it is so peaceful and quiet. We just loved everything about this house - and the fabulous pool too. We highly recommend Casa del Chaman to all travelers.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Casa del Chaman was great. We had plenty of space for our group and enjoyed the daily visits from the monkeys every day. The rooms were clean and spacious and were just the thing to get back to after a long day at the beach. The pool was also great and very refreshing after a hot day. We met Lola, the community parrot and enjoyed hearing her say "Rico, Rico" The kitchen has about everything you need to make a meal or enjoy a nice cup of Costa Rican coffee on the balcony. We will miss Casa del Chaman!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Our two-week vacation @ Casa del Chaman was the true definition of “paradise”. Everything was more than what we expected. Both units were very clean and comfortable. As we were two couples, we traded units a week about so that we could all share & enjoy the full amenities of the larger upstairs unit. It housed the king-size bed, full kitchen and the “to die for” porch! As we rocked away with our coffee or drink in hand, we enjoyed the perfect weather along with the wide variety of local wildlife. As my fellow traveler said, “it’s like being in a Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom episode”. The location was excellent, the grounds were immaculate (good job Willie) and the other long-term resident neighboursO were exceptionally friendly & helpful with our many questions. Following our daily excursions and tours we were thankful to come back to our little Garden of Eden and relax by the pool. Donna, the property manager was excellent. She was more than accommodating & arranged all our tours and gave us sound advice. Thanks Donna, you’re the best! We will definitely come back again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in the smaller, lower unit at Casa Del Chaman. It was very efficient and had everything we needed. However, I would have liked to have a little more natural light in the room and it did had a musty smell. We used the little patio area quite a bit for eating breakfast and spending time listening to the birds. The complex is very well maintained and the pool and gardens are lovely. The best thing is the troop of titi monkeys that comes through at about 4:30-5:00pm. They are amazing to watch as they come right to the balcony of the upper units. Thanks to another guest, I got to feed them and got some wonderful photos. Another frequent visitor was Lola a green parrot who hangs out on the roof and greets you with "Hola!". Our stay was very active with frequent trips to Manuel Antonio. Donna, the property manager, is very helpful in arranging any tours you might like to partake in. We did a horseback ride into the primary forest followed by a swim in a jungle pool with a waterfall. It was wonderful! This property is close to Quepos for shopping and dining and even closer to Manuel Antonio Park for beautiful beaches, abundant wildlife, hiking, snorkeling, and relaxing. The public beach is also very a very nice place to spend a relaxing day. I do recommend a car for getting around and seeing a bit more of the area. We drove into the mountains and then south to Dominical to get to see more of the country. I would definitely recommend this property. The complex is quiet and lovely and we felt very safe. The property manger is very helpful and friendly and will do her utmost to make your stay pleasurable. I hope to return someday very soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family and I stayed at Casa del Chaman for one week in Nov and we just loved everything about it. Our 2 teenage girls stayed in the lower unit and felt very safe and special to have their own "place", and our 8 year old son slept on the futon upstairs in the living area. This was a nice arrangement because the girls could have a little time to themselves and then we could all get together and cook meals, eat, watch TV and be together in the upstairs apt.. We saw monkeys everyday at the house and they were within an arms reach. We got great monkey photos. And we loved the rocking chairs on the upstairs porch. I could sit there all day. It felt like we were in a treehouse. We also saw a toucan. We rented a car, but we really did not need one, and most tours pick you up at the front entrance. So next time we may just take a shuttle from the airport and use the public buses and taxis while there. There are some restaurants close enough to the house that when we wanted to eat out, we could walk there. We LOVED this place, and the manager Donna was very friendly and helpful. This is the way to vacation - forget the high price hotels.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I had the pleaseure of staying at the Casa Del Chaman from 4/25/08 to 5/10/08. What a fantasic trip. This place was beautiful, the grounds were well maintained & my room was great. I especially liked the large bathroon with the nice jacuzzi. The facility was close to everything. I went to the beach, the national park, the canopy & mangorove tours. The pool area with the jucizzi & waterfall was amazing. I would highly recommend the Casa Del Chaman to anyone & I am looking forward to staying there again. In fact, I have just booked this place for the period 2/1/08 to 2/15/08. I can't wait!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

I had the privilege of staying at Casa del Chaman for 5 weeks, so I really got to enjoy everything about it. Whilst the tours etc are all great and highly recommended if you don't have so much time, there is nothing better than sitting on the terrace at the apartment with a cup of great coffee, watching the monkeys as they pass by, day after day after day. The abiding memory of Chaman is the sound of nature and the sights of all the creatures who share the garden which give a constant sense of wonderment – it is truly a living, thriving place. And there is easy access to loads of other things to do as well. The care that was given to the garden and the pool was awesome, every day it was clean and beautiful, and I spent a lot of time there. There really was no need to go anywhere else! The management and servicing of the apartment were excellent, although largely untested as it has everything so I didn‚t really need to ask for much. Chaman, for me, is a sanctuary within a sanctuary, which is Costa Rica. As a single traveler I felt very safe and anything I needed was just a phone call away. I was a little sad to leave, but not so sad because I know I'll go back. In short, there is loads to do, but Casa del Chaman is also a wonderful place to just 'be'.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This place was perfect. It was right in the middle of everything, not too far away from Quepos or Manuel Antonio. It was really nice to be situated in a quiet gated community, which made us all feel very safe. The place was clean, the only complaint is that the bottom room was a little musty. But other than that it was great. It was right by the bus stop which was very convenient. We really liked the waterfall repelling, canopy safari, and the mangrove tour. The park was also really nice. I recommend going into the bar for the beach a couple days, the beaches have crystal clear water in the park. Some really good restaurants were La Cantina, Pizza de Marco, Solo Pizza, and Hotel Mimos. Soda Sanchez is a good soda in Quepos. Go to Pali for your grocery shopping, it's cheaper and it's in Quepos. Barba roja and el avion have great sunset views and Barba roja has drink specials then. Also, another plus is that everyday at 4:30pm monkies come and sit on the porch of this house! We really enjoyed our stay, and hope we offered great advice.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Vacationing at Casa del Chaman was like living in the middle of the rainforest! Every morning and afternoon we would watch from the porch as the squirrel monkeys scrambled across the rooftops and down the trees. We also saw iguanas and beutiful butterflies. The unit is very nicely furnished and the kitchen allowed us to prepare several meals at home to keep our costs down. When we did go out, El Patio in Quepos was our favorite restautant -- serving "nouveau" Costa Rican cuisine. Our favorite trip was white water rafting, which Donna, the property manager, arranged for us. We also enjoyed the guided tour through the national park, where we saw all kinds of wildlife. Overall, our stay of Casa del Chaman was wonderful!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
