Apartment ‘Elena’ is located in a typical street, inside the walls of the medieval city of Assisi, home of St. Francis and St. Clare, two of the greatest spiritual figures of all time.
The owner, a British theologian/ published-writer, who lives nearby would gladly make you feel welcome. His writings include a book about the saints of Assisi and Umbria, "A Window on the Mystery of Faith".
The apartment is ideally situated - just a stone’s throw from the Basilica of St. Clare and near the Cathedral of St. Rufino, the town square and about fifteen minutes’ walk from the Basilica of St. Francis. Staying here enables you to experience the art, history, culture, and local life of Assisi, which is a World Heritage Site and focal point for ecumenism and peace.
Especially during the spring, summer and early autumn, Assisi comes alive with music, dance and colourful medieval folkloric festivities.
Furthermore, Assisi, which is in Umbria, the "Green Heart of Italy," offers easy access to the beautiful countryside, much appreciated by nature-lovers, other hill top towns (Perugia, Gubbio, Spoleto), and the wine and olive producing areas (Montefalco, Orvieto, Spello, among others).
The apartment is part of a building toned in pink stone, typical of the city. From the front door of the building a short staircase leads up to the recently redecorated beautiful apartment, attractively characterized throughout by terracotta tiled floors and traditional beamed ceiling. The entire atmosphere is homely and pleasantly welcoming with a pretty stone fireplace.
Apartment ‘Elena’ sleeps up to five people and is ideal for two couples or a family to enjoy a comfortable self-catering holiday in Assisi. It has a dining and sitting room area adjoining a double bedroom and a single bedroom. A divan sofa can serve as a large, comfortable double bed in the sitting room area. There is a fully equipped kitchen, and two bathrooms (unusual for many apartments in Assisi), which are complete with washbasins, bidets, water closets, and showers.
A boiler supplies instant hot water and central heating. Facilities include: microwave, stove with electric oven, electric toaster, fridge, washing machine, iron and ironing board, colour TV.
Shops and a local market provide all that you may need, as well as typical Umbrian fare. Numerous restaurants, ‘trattorias,’ and pizzerias are in the vicinity of the apartment.
It is very easy to arrive at Apartment ‘Elena’: many daily trains connect Assisi to Rome, Florence and other places. The historical centre of the city is only about ten minutes from the railway station following a scenic road. A frequent regular local bus service connects the station and the city, stopping at Porta Nuova conveniently very near the apartment.
For those coming by car, the city offers many safe car parks at a short walking distance from the apartment. The newly opened Perugia Airport called Sant'Egidio has made Assisi more accessible to the world. This Airport is just 15-20 minutes from Assisi. Car Hire is available here.
The property is available throughout the year, and it is normally rentable for a week. Shorter or longer stays can be requested and negotiated depending on availability. A deposit of 40% of the total rental is payable in Euros when booking the apartment. |
