I know the Maine lakes are beautiful and inviting in summer, but there is something to be said about the quiet solitude of the off season. Gerry's camp was a perfect place to spend Thanksgiving week. It exceeded our expectations. With a couple of exceptions (which we knew about beforehand), everything we needed to prepare our feast was there in the kitchen. It was cold enough to use the wood-burning stove which made the open-plan living area very warm and cozy. Coming from the city, I'm always amazed at the star-filled night sky. It was spectacular. Early mornings brought beautiful sunrises with mist hanging over the lake. We spent our days reading, watching dvd's, working a jigsaw puzzle, and exploring the surrounding area. Being hunting season, we saw several deer being weighed at Bait, Bolts, and Bullets in Solon, ME which, as the name infers, carries an eclectic assortment of goods. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to just hang out and relax. The place does have wi-fi which was a nice amenity. Our cell phone carrier, AT&T, provides only spotty service in that part of Maine, which really wasn't an issue. If asked, I would certainly recommend a week on Embden Lake.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

We travel to Maine every summer with our 3 children and dog and this was one of the best vacations we've had. Gerry is very helpful, accessible and timely with information. The cabin was exactly as described, very clean and comfortable and offered all the necessary amenities - as much as I hate doing laundry it was nice not to bring it all home with us. The neighbors (human and canine) were all very friendly. The lake is gorgeous and the fishing is great! We caught and enjoyed several 16 - 18" bass during our stay. There isn't much in the area to do so it is a great place to kick back and relax. We took a drive north, about 1 hour, to Moxie Falls which was well worth the trip. Needless to say none of us wanted to leave. We would definitely return to Embden Pond as well as rent from Gerry again in the future.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We moved to Alabama 11 years ago and have traveled back to Maine about once a year. When we went back to Maine we felt like we had no vacation. We traveled from house to house to visit with family and friends. This camp changed all of this during our last visit. We were able to unpack at one location and enjoy a wonderful camp on one of the best lakes on earth. We found the camp to have everything you needed but found so much more. We could finally relax and enjoy what we miss about Maine; the beauty, serenity, family, and friends. I assure you that this camp has it all. The owner is very polite, the camp has everything you need, and for the first time we had a vacation in Maine. I highly recommend this property and think you will be amazed like us what the property offers.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Shirley: Thanks so much for the nice review. I'm glad you enjoyed this little peace of Heaven. Gerry

This lake house is a great spot for a family vacation. The house itself is comfortable and well equipped and it's location is just stunning. The beach area was great for our 3 1/2 year old. She could wade into the lake and play without worrying about getting out of her depth whilst our 5 year old made use of the brand new dock to learn how to dive. The water is beautifully clear and warm - just perfect for escaping from the heat. The front deck was just perfect for eating our meals and listening to the loons. We also made use of the kayak and canoe on the property. Can't wait to go back for some more relaxation and fun.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We have rented this cabin about 6 times in the past 20 years and have stayed at a number of other "camps" in this little community about 7 times as well. This is our favorite cabin as it is the closest to the lake and has all the amenities anyone would want on vacation. Gerry, the owner, has equipped it well indoors and out. The canoe and kayak are great perks as are the washer/dryer/dishwasher/fans. We travel 8 hrs to get here so we clearly think it's worth it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This is the very first time I had ever done this, I was very skeptical at first, but let me tell you, Gerry was wonderful, he put all my hesitations to rest, and delivered everything he promised. We had e-mailed for a few months with my questions, he called me on one ocasion, he got to know me and I got to know him a little. This place delivers everything it offers, the condo is beautiful, and in great condition. The windows overlooking the lake are a great touch, the morning sun will blind the late sleeper, but we love to get up early, drink coffee and watch a new day come up over the lake. We brought our cat, Baxter, he strongly recomeds this for all the cat lovers out there, he loved the sun in the morning and the wonderful breeze in the master window in the afternoon. The decor was great! My family thought I had decorated it! It was clean and very comfortable. A nice home away from home. Gerry has offered a great value for your money. I would recomend this place to anyone wanting to go somewhere to relax and just enjoy Maine. There is alot to do not very far away. I am from Skowhegan, and it is a wonderful town, about 30-40 min from the cabin, the town has at lest one of anything you may want or need. I will be back, it is a place to make memories.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This is the perfect Maine vacation. The views are amazing from every room of the house, the deck is the closest to the lake of all the cabins in this group, the rock in front is the perfect spot for sunning yourself or feeding the local ducks and everyone can enjoy the warm water right out front of the camp.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
