I had never been to Good Hart, but Northern Michigan has consistently been the geographical love of my life for years. Until this past weekend, I would have been happy in any northern city in any cottage, but after a weekend at the Hideout, I realize that this is the one place I have a strong need to go back to year after year. Sitting on acres of lush greenery, you feel totally secluded, like you are on a deserted island in the middle of lake Michigan. But the reality is that you are only about 15 miles from civilization. There are neighbors close by, but each lot is completely surrounded by trees so there is a sense of privacy that I have never experienced before. The cottage is very cute and clean. It's been decorated to the max with kitchy cabin decor but it's done with thought and sophistication. It's not cheesey, it's just really fitting, warm, and charming. The bathroom is small but clean and the kitchen is stocked with anything you could need. There are 2 grills for convenience and a storage facility with camping, boating, and sporting gear. The cabin has huge picture windows so you are constantly reminded of the amazing setting. The Good Hart area is secluded with private properties and stunning homes. It's very upscale and rustic at the same time. I left the cabin yesterday and I really miss it! The fact that you are on lake michigan with a very distant view of Beaver Island makes you feel very connected to nature and the state of Michigan. It's a wonderful place and I clearly cannot say enough good things about this cabin. If you are considering this place versus another, I would highly recommend the Hideout. It's literally like a little piece of heaven on earth!

Me and my girlfriends stayed at the Hideaway for a girl's long weekend and couldn't have had a better time. The cabin itself is clean, amazingly well kept, and full of character and warmth - very spacious for our group of 4. The property is large and very well secluded, lending itself to the feeling that you and your group are the only inhabitants for miles (even though neighbors are right down the same small street). The seclusion, amazing views, and gorgeous scenery helped make this one of the most relaxing trips of my life. Very short and easy distance from Harbor Springs, which was wonderful for quick trips to town for dining or picking up essentials. Doug, the property owner, couldn't have been more helpful, accomodating, and friendly. We're already planning our next trip back!

We were looking for a new fall get-away location when someone recommended the Homeaway site. We found the Hideaway and reserved our 3-day stay Oct 09. This is an absolutely lovely home in a great area with alot of privacy. Wonderful, cozy, private, comfortable. We loved it so much we're hoping for a week next summer. The owner was great, all contact timely and informative. The property was everything promised and very clean; full function kitchen & fireplace in the livingroom. Small private beach area with a fire ring. The pictures are exactly what you get! There is no TV, but a very nice CD player. We found that our cell phones didn't work inside and sketchy outside, but it wasn't really a problem when you're getting away from it all. It's only 30 minutes to Mackinaw, Petosky and less to Harbor Springs if you're looking to get out and about. We told everyone who asked what a great place it was and what a wonderful time we had.

"Thanks for sharing your slice of paradise with us. Your place is a great treasure and we truly enjoyed every minute of our stay. We saw deer drinking out of the lake early in the morning and dining on branches in the evening - a great view of nature up close. Given the eight days of high heat Janet watered your flowers on several occasions. Thanks for the kind greetings and warm reception, it set the tone for a totally relaxing visit. Thanks again, we truly love this spot! "

"Wow!! This is the first time we have ventured out of Canada to a cottage and we were not disappointed. Thank you for giving us such a welcoming, relaxing, Hideaway. Our favorite things: beautiful sunsets, cool nights with warm fires, clear starry nights, the quite setting, visits from deer, wood peckers and humming birds, the swing (our 5 month olds favorite!), croquet, the rocks - We loved it all!! Thanks again!"

"Thank you for sharing "The Hide Away" with us. It's as beautiful and relaxing as we remember it. We were blessed with six days of sunny gorgeous weather and closed out the week watching the rain roll in. Mother Nature never ceases to amaze us with her beauty. Thank you for the memories."

"Another beautiful week at the Hide Away. Wonderful rain on Tuesday evening with hail, lighting and thunder - then gorgeous! Nothing is better for the soul than a week spent here. This has been a week of changes for our family - Perhaps our last "vacation" together as our oldest graduates in 2005 and moves on with life. We feel blessed to have this time together at this special place. Thank you!"
