Thanks again for providing us with just the right home for our vacation; we really enjoyed our stay and it was great to visit with our daughter. Silly question for you--what kind of mattress and pillows do you have in the master? I slept so well and my hair wasn't even messed up in the morning. Just thought if you knew I could at least start with some new pillows. Thanks so much. Owner's Response: The bed in the master is a king Simmons Beautyrest. The pillows question is trickier because there are 3 pairs on the bed. One pair are plump regular-size pillows by Ralph Lauren. A second pair are king Home Design "Dacron Relief" pillows by PillowTex of Dallas. The third pair are good quality synthetic king pillows from Target. We avoid feather pillows because some guests are allergic to them.

Spending a week with excellent weather, this house fulfilled all of our dreams. A well equipped house, with all the things you need to do whatever you like; both in the kitchen, at the grill, the fireplace, and a fantastic sample of lecture in every genre, we especially took advantage of the massive collection of history lecture on New England and Cape Ann, and enjoyed the nice and calm atmosphere and silence. Every morning we enjoyed the refreshing swim from the pear in the garden (bay). We would highly recommend this house and friendly host to everybody.
Owner response:Thomas and his family from Copenhagen were wonderful guests. We are glad they enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and our library of some 4500 books including over 30 titles covering biking, hiking, boating, birding, touring, and other activities on Cape Ann and elsewhere in MA and New England. They deserve special recognition for swimming each morning off the seawall on the lower part of our property abutting Granite Pier Cove. The ocean temperature here in late May is bracing to put it mildly but that did not deter them. We hope they return and appreciate their gracious review.

Wow, we were overwhelmed when we entered this marvelous home. While the website information was accurate it was still more than we expected. We only wish we could have stayed longer, the book shelves lined with books immediately made me feel at home and want to sit reading, but the view of the ocean, called us out to walk. We want to plan a return trip with more time to relax and enjoy this wonderful home! THANKS!

We have enjoyed our second Thanksgiving here in Gull Cove House for our families from the far corners of the US including Boston, Portland OR, Oakland CA, and New York. We are looking forward to a 3rd year here for our annual family reunion. Gull Cove House is a perfect venue for large families. You have assembled an amazing book/movie collection and have every convenience. Thanks so much for our week-long respite.

The house was exactly as described and even better! Every detail was perfect, including the gorgeous furnishings and art work. We loved cooking in the kitchen (a cook's dream!) and on the outside grill. The views are prettier than the photos show. We loved every minute of our vacation. Our group included all ages (from an infant to a senior) and the house was remarkably well set up for all! Very highly recommended!

We all agree that this house is a wonderful retreat and that we were so lucky to have found it! Thank you for a wonderful time. PS We recommend the Tuesday night sea shanties at Cameron's in Gloucester for a rollicking evening!

Thank you so much for our beautiful stay (though too brief!) We had a wonderful celebration with our family of my parents’ 60th anniversary, which meant so much to them. At 90 my mom’s wish was to see the ocean, and your house (and the Nor’easter) made the view beautiful and dramatic. The collection of Indonesian/Asian art was an unexpected bonus. We hope to come back again!

This has been our 3rd wonderful visit to Gull Cove. Thank you for all the “little touches” which are huge. This has become to us the most peaceful of places!This year we have enjoyed all the beaches and rocky ledges with our books and a picnic. Our favorite restaurants remain Duckworth’s Bistro (Gloucester) and Ithaki (Ipswich). Ithaki is a wonderful finale to a day at Crane Beach. We also took in a concert at Crane Mansion—fun evening. We really enjoyed the house. It was the perfect little respite for the family, even with a bit of rain. And if we can swing it again, we'll definitely let you know! My father, ever safety-conscious (!), noted that the drain cover in the master bathroom shower wasn't screwed down, and he thought it was kind of a hazard and made me promise to mention it--for what it's worth. Hope that you enjoy the rest of the summer! All the best. Owner's Note: We have replaced the screws on the shower drain cover and it is once again secure.

We had a beautiful time in the Cape Ann area once again! Your house is beautiful and thank you for letting us enjoy the views of the cove. We loved being able to walk to Bearskin Neck and being so close to the train station for our day trip into Boston. Well, our two weeks have flown by filled with many adventures with our family & friends & leaving us with wonderful memories of our 50th anniversary celebration. We all loved the house & it fit the 9 of us perfectly. Lots of space for everyone to do their own thing or to gather together. And everywhere we were there were those beautiful views!We took advantage of your DVD & video library, worked on several puzzles, played (mini) pool & took your shovels & pails to the beach. We marveled at your book collection! & dipped into some to them. Being in walking distance to town was another great advantage & we only used the cars for out of Rockport trips. We even took the train into Boston twice.We’d love to return someday—maybe with friends for the Chamber Music Festival. If so you will be the first person we will call for housing. Thanks for your thoughtfulness.

This is one of the most amazing holiday homes we have been to. It was a very special holiday since it was vacation with my family from India and Australia and our honeymoon. The views were fantastic especially the sunrise. The walk to the rocky shoreline was gorgeous; everybody enjoyed it including my 95 year old grandfather! We might be coming back here to celebrate his 100th birthday! The facilities were excellent and my gosh the book collection not to forget the artwork were FANTASTIC. We spent a wonderful and happy week here with our children and grandchildren. The house is spectacular and the setting is even more so! We found everything we could possibly need to keep a group ranging in age from almost two to 82 occupied and comfortable. I rented this property for the weekend to celebrate my 50th birthday with five other women. We had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful and comfortable. While it was very clean and organized, it had the feeling of a home and not a stripped down rental property. It is nicely furnished with an eclectic variety of furniture and asian art collected on the owner's travels around the world. At the same time, we felt like we could put our feet up and relax and make ourselves at home. The kitchen was well stocked with anything we needed (though not gourmet or high end). There are a good selection of spices in the cupboard, but the fridge is clean and empty. A good balance. Our first evening was cool and we enjoyed a lovely fire in front of the stone fireplace. In the morning we woke up to amazing water views and had a nice walk into town to visit galleries and shops. Tim, the owner, was easy to communicate with through out the reservation and leasing process and was delightfully helpful to us when we arrived with recommendations for restaurants and nice local walks. There is an excellent notebook with all the information you need to make yourself at home (how to use the grills, where to find cushions for the ample patio furniture, etc.). He was available but allowed us plenty of privacy. And, he returned my damage deposit within a week. We had a completely delightful weekend and look forward another visit in the future.

Boston Marathon weekend/week with our friends from Idaho & Arizona! For all of us it was the first time in MA…First the house was a pleasant surprise of comforts, books, & views. The walk to town and the beach was perfect! The recommendation of the Windward Grill (Essex, MA) was excellent! We took many day trips via train to Boston and lazy drives to Salem and Gloucester.
