We enjoyed both the excellent facility and the quiet, beautiful location

Guest: Chet Skibinski (Lake Oswego, OR)
Date of Stay: 05/03/12 Review Submitted: 05/19/12

It was an absolute pleasure to stay in Sedona Suite for this past week in May. Ken and Heather are marvelous hosts, and helpful advisors for just about anything a guest may need or want, including pertinent advice on restaurants, hiking trails, shopping - the list could go on. I especially liked the location - a quiet area about a 5-minute drive away from bustling highway 89-A. Just a couple of hundred yards down the road was Crescent Moon Park, a lovely area by the banks of Oak Creek, and perfect for a shady picnic, or, what we especially enjoyed, a walk about an hour before sunset, when we watched the gorgeously changing light on Cathedral Rock. This was our first trip to Sedona, and we feel quite lucky to have chosen Sedona Suite as our place to stay.

Beautifully situated, superb bed, hospitable*** host!

Date of Stay: 03/18/12 Review Submitted: 03/26/12

My husband and I just got back from 6 nights at Sedona Suite, staying in the lovely Cathedral studio. The room is beautifully set up and the bed and bedding of the highest quality leading to superb nights' sleep! The earth colors work perfectly with the outdoor views of Sedona. We arrived in a surprising snow storm, the white snow adding to the beauty of the red rocks. We were warmly greeted by Ken, the owner, who after 5 minutes offered his winter parka to my husband for the duration of our stay. That gesture typifies the generosity of the owners. Ken gave us suggestions of where to go that first day for lunch (Wildflower Café, with great soups and salads/sandwiches). He gave us maps and invited us to join him on his walk with his wonderfully sweet dog, Buddy, to Red Rock Crossing, a walk we wound up taking a couple of times in the morning. The room is supplied with packages of organic oatmeal, snack bars, coffee and teas. When I asked about a particular flavor of the oatmeal, Ken went to find more packets for us. The room is very comfortable and the bathroom is tastefully done as well. There is only a microwave and small refrigerator, so don't plan on making elaborate meals. We picked up items at a natural foods supermarket and enjoyed salads a few nights we opted not to go out. Coming back at night, don't forget to look up into the night sky. You may see more stars than you've ever seen in your life, right on the property! For peace and tranquility and with easy access to lots of hiking, views, restaurants, please treat yourselves to a stay at Sedona Suite.

We had three wonderful nights in the Pyramid Suite. Great hiking close and within short drives of the south side of Sedona. Ken was extra helpful in orienting us to the area, without ever being intrusive. It was very quiet, clean and oh, so comfortable. We would return.

Date of Stay: 03/03/12 Review Submitted: 03/20/12

My husband and I just returned from a two week vacation in Sedona and had the great good fortune to have chosen Ken and Heather's Cathedral Suite as our home-away-from-home. Our accommodations were spotless, and included passes to the National Parks in the area. Ken and Heather are gracious, attentive (without being intrusive) and full of wonderful suggestions for dining and exploring. The location of Sedona Suites is perfect! You are minutes from Cathedral Rock and minutes from rte 89 which is the main artery of Sedona. We give Sedona Suites 5+ stars and highly recommend staying there on your next trip to that beautiful part of the country.

Guest: Judy and Dana (Minneapolis, MN)
Date of Stay: 01/11/12 Review Submitted: 01/22/12

Our suite at Ken & Heather's home, combined with the beauty of Sedona, was the perfect place for us to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Ken was wonderful about supplying us with recommendations regarding restaurants, hiking trails, tours and even massages. He even loaned us a cooler to pack a picnic for our day trip to the Grand Canyon. When the temperature is right (a little cool in January) the deck of the Pyramid Suite provides an amazing view to enjoy a glass of wine. We would definitely stay here again and hope to be back.

We spent our honeymoon in beautiful Sedona. We were lucky to have reservations at Ken's because it was the perfect place for two to stay. Ken and Heather were very receptive and helpful to all our questions and needs. The room was comfortable and clean in every aspect and we were very satisfied. Not to mention the price is one of the best in Sedona! We recommend any one staying there, because we will for sure again.

Ken and Heather greeted us warmly and showed us to our suite, before giving us maps and insights to the area. The second floor suite was well furnished, with a comfortable king sized bed and a mini-kitchen stocked with coffee, tea, snacks and dishes. The bathroom was spotless and beautiful, with plenty of hot water in the shower. There was also TV etc but we never used it. At night, it was perfectly quiet and from the porch we had a stunning view, and a short walk to one of the area's popular sights. I will stay here when I return to Sedona.

Sedona Suites more than lived up to its posting on VRBO. The accomadations were clean, modern and comfortable. The owner was gracious and helpful. There are hiking trails within walking distance and the view from the patio is amazing. The suite was well stocked with energy bars, coffee, tea, dishes and utensils. I was plesantly surprised that a Red Rock pass and Forest Service pass were provided for my use while I was there. I had a fabulous time in Sedona and felt right at home at Red Rock Crossing. I would absolutely recommend these accomadations to a friend or relative.

We have stayed all over the USA and Ken and Heathers place in Sedona was definitely an experience we will remember for a long time. Ken was so helpful giving us ideas from where to eat to what to see from the Red Rocks to the Grand Canyon. They provided wonderful coffee, granola bars, teas, cokes and even loaned us a cooler to take to Canyon with us and gave us great easy to follow directions. Their suite was so beautiful as was all of their property. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. God created a magnificent world but He really liked the colors of Sedona. Ken did an awesome job building his home. We will definitely stay again when we return. 5 stars from Jim and Mary from Florida.

Ken and Heather were warm and hospitable and the studio was welcoming and comfortable. Upon arrival, Ken walked us through the various conveniences, provided us with a map of the area, and supplied us with recommendations for restaurants, hikes, and shopping. You could not ask for better hosts! The apartment was very comfortable and attention was paid to even the smallest of details. The location was superb - it is away from the touristy sections of uptown but close enough to be convenient. It is literally a short walk to the trail to view Cathedral Rock (which you can see easily from the balcony). I have recommended this place to my in-laws for their next Sedona vacation. Oh, and I highly recommend checking out Jerome - it is a short drive and well worth it! :-)

We stayed in the Pyramid Suite. Our room was wonderfully comfortable, a much nicer experience than a cold hotel room. The location couldn't have been any better. Sedona Suites is nature at its best. Something beautiful to walk to or look at around every corner. We felt very blessed that Ken and Heather shared their lovely home with us. This was one of our best vacation experiences ever! We were looking for a special place to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary, and this was certainly the perfect place.

"Beautiful place, wonderful people, outstanding accomodations"

Guest: John (Newport Coast, CA)
Date of Stay: 08/25/11 Review Submitted: 09/13/11

I rarely say that I totally loved where I stayed, but this place I absolutely did. The accommodations were reasonably priced and at the same time appointed like a suite at the Four Seasons. Ken and Heather are not only 2 of the nicest people you would ever want to meet, they went out of their way to make sure our stay in Sedona was an unforgettable one. The room included passes to all of the local state parks saving us hundreds in fees. Our room had a lovely kitchenette allowing us to make our breakfasts and lunches right in our room. The view right from our balcony was dramatic...Bottom line, they exceeded my expectations in every way and we will be back! Thanks again!

Ken and Heather were wonderful hosts as well as community guides. Ken has built a wonderful home/business. Our living space was clean, comfortable and efficient. In addition to a beautiful view of Cathedral Rock from the veranda, we were close enough to Sedona proper for easily setting out to meals or further afield to the scenic attractions. Ken gave us a great tip during our first minutes after arrival: a beautiful park is in walking distance from his home. We couldn't have asked for better accommodations and have already recommended Sedona Suite to friends.

We enjoyed staying in the Cathedral Suites named for the BEAUTIFUL view out the front window of Cathedral Rock. Sedona Suites are located perfectly . . . far enough away from town to be away from the congestion but close enough to get into town for meals and shopping. Loved the nearby park. Take swim suits . . . there is a great little stream there to sun bathe on the red rocks or jump in and swim.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Cathedral Suite after visiting the Grand Canyon. The suite was spotless, comfortable and homey. It is one of a kind especially it is built using "natural materials" promoting sustainability and the design shows environmentally friendly concepts. The decor was tasteful! We enjoyed hanging out at the porch overlooking the Cathedral Rock and observing a glimpse of sunrise. The place is a walking distance to the base of the Cathedral Rock and it is a short drive to the center of Sedona. Our host (Ken) provided us great tips about the city including restaurants and hiking trails. He is personable and made every detail of our stay enjoyable and memorable. We will strongly refer this place to family and friends who will be visiting Sedona in the future.

Owner response:Frank and Thessa, It was great to meet you We are so pleased to hear that you had a wonderful stay. Please come back soon... Ken and Heather

We could not have been happier! We loved the scenice drive in from town, the beautiful view from our balcony, the peace and quiet which would not have been possible in a hotel. Everything we needed was there, including park passes for the area. Ken and Heather were friendly, helpful, and always available if we had a question about directions or restaurants. They definitely give the personal touch. I am a clean"freak", and our suite was absolutely spotless. Even the grounds are neat! We enjoyed the beauty of Sedona, the weather, the hikes, and the friendly people. It was especially nice to be so close to Red Rock Crossing - just a short walk down the road. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants a quiet, clean, scenic place to stay for their Sedona vacation. Thank you so much, Ken and Heather! Feb 21, 2011 I just returned home from a week-long stay at Sedona Suite. I am hesitant to list all the wonderful things about this place for fear of not being able to get another reservation when I return. But I will say that I was most impressed with Ken and Heather's commitment to the natural environment in everything they do. They have successfully demonstrated that luxury and comfort can go hand-in-hand with environmentally-friendly practices. Ken and Heather's hospitality and attention to every detail made this such an enjoyable place to stay. And Buddy (the sweetest dog ever) almost made me forget how much I missed my own pets. I will definitely stay here on my next visit to Sedona.

Motel Atmosphere Without The Amenities

Guest: roz (Golden)
Date of Stay: 11/18/10 Review Submitted: 11/25/10

Recently we (two couples) stayed at Cathedral Suite and Pyramid Suite. All of us agreed that the rooms were sterile and cold. We felt the views and grounds were misrepresented. The balcony view from "Cathedral Suite" was interrupted by power lines which are not depicted in the photo presented on the VRBO site. We found this interesting. The house grounds presented on the VRBO site were not available to us. When we arrived the rooms were very cold. We turned on a noisy heater to warm the room and the heater continued shutting on/off keeping us awake thru the night. The TV was outdated. Lastly I had so many e-mails and phone calls from Ken regarding the reservations that it became an annoyance. All four of us agreed that we would not stay here again nor recommend it to friends or family.

Owner response:We pride ourselves in offering the finest accommodations and personal assistance to every guest so they can’t wait to come back and stay with us again. Unfortunately, we can only assure this happens if the guest tells us while they are here if there is a problem. What pains me most about this review is not that the comments do not truly reflect our home, which is clearly evidenced by the other reviews, but that this guest did not enjoy her vacation in Sedona. Since we live here, I routinely encounter guests coming and going and regularly ask how they are enjoying their stay and if I can do anything to make it better. When asked this question multiple times, these guests always said that everything was fine. If they had told me differently, I would have done everything within my power to correct the situation or would have immediately refunded their money and helped them find an accommodation that better met their needs. As for the rooms being “sterile and cold” and the views and the grounds misrepresented and not available to them, I am not sure what to say as they look exactly as they do in the pictures and the grounds are completely open to walk around in freely. To save energy, the rooms are not heated until a guest arrives and rarely fall below 60 degrees. After a guest’s arrival, the heater is turned on and the room is warm in 5 to 10 minutes. The heater does turn on and off to keep the room warm, but it is very quiet with only a small fan that comes on, as by design, the main heating and cooling components are housed on the side of the house away from the rooms and cannot be heard. The TV was not the latest flat screen, but it had a great picture. That being said, to ensure the highest quality experience for our guests, we have replaced the TVs in both suites with new 32” flat screens. As to there being so many e-mails and phone calls from me regarding the reservations, I sent her a total of 5 e-mails: to send the reservation form, confirm receipt, answer her questions, and establish a time of arrival. Two of the three calls were to establish a time of arrival and one was to ask where our walking sticks had been placed, as I could not find them behind the door and guest often accidentally leave with them, and our parking pass, in their vehicle. In the end, it is our goal to have every guest who stays with us leave saying, “I will never stay anywhere else when I come to Sedona.” We are very sorry this guest was not able to say this.

Star gazing and hearing coyotes sing

Guest: Lynda (Seattle, WA)
Date of Stay: 11/08/10 Review Submitted: 11/11/11

Ken, Heather, & Buddy (super friendly family dog) were wonderful and gracious hosts! Ken made sure they were around when we checked-in and then they graciously spent 30 minutes or more, making us feel at home by sharing all of their maps, travel brochures, advice on where to eat, and must see sights (e.g. Indian ruins). They even saved us time and $ by lending us their two Red Rock trailhead passes. We instantly felt like locals. In addition, we also enjoyed reading their books (left for us to read by our bedside) and intriguing conversations with them afterwards. If you like to get up early, love sunrises, and go for neighborhood walks, then I would recommend their cozy Cathedral Suite. We hope to return every year for a 3 day weekend; anything longer, I would recommend renting a condo.

Owner response:It is always nice for us to have such wonderful people share our home with us. We look forward to having you stay with us again next year! People always ask me which suite they should reserve. It is hard to say because about half our guests prefer the Cathedral suite and about half prefer the Pyramid suite. It seems that for those who plan to spend most of their time out and about experiencing Sedona, and not all that much time in the room, then our Cathedral suite, with its amazing view of Cathedral Rock, is a wonderful choice. For those who plan to spend more time in the room, or really enjoy lounging around in the mornings or evenings, then I recommend the larger Pyramid suite with two big recliners and a private balcony view of Pyramid Rock. Also, while both of our suites have kitchenettes, which include a mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, flatware, dishes, plus organic fair-trade coffee as well as tea and snacks included for free, if you want to do any real cooking on a stove or oven on your vacation, then a full-sized condo might be a better choice.

The Real Sedona

Guest: Steve & Ann (Scottsdale, AZ)
Date of Stay: 09/12/10 Review Submitted: 12/03/10

My wife and I have been Arizona residents for over 30 years, and exploring & enjoying Sedona has been a great source of relaxation, outdoor exercise, cultural delight, and spiritual fulfillment through all that time. We've stayed about everywhere one can stay in Red Rock country...from campgrounds to condos to high end resorts. While each of these certainly has its merits, I can't stress too strongly what a special treat it has been to stay at Ken and Heather's place (multiple times) at Red Rock Crossing. This is lodging for those who wonder what it might be like to call Sedona home...warm people, comfortable surroundings, ecological respect, amazing trails, and a drive down an awesomely scenic canyon road that you must take even if you are just in the area. If your concern really is the television in your room (perfectly adequate, by the way) or an absolutely silent heating system (is there such a thing?) you might conceivably find yourself better provisioned on the main drag. But if you are coming to Sedona to catch the vibe...well, the trail leads here.

Awesome stay!

Guest: Padma (Fremont CA)
Date of Stay: 08/21/10 Review Submitted: 12/07/10

Staying at the Pyramid suite was my first vacation rental experience and I am glad it was. My husband, 9yr old daughter and I arrived at the property really late at night(about 11pm) after a long drive through the Grand Canyon. Ken was really helpful giving us directions whenever we needed. When we arrived the place was so neat and furnished the right amount. Ken had everything ready, the air conditioner on, and explained where everything was inside the suite even that late. The next day Ken gave us a parking pass to visit places nearby, although we were leaving early. Ken, the only thing I noticed which I forgot to mention about was that the electrical outlet in the bathroom was not working, so I had a hard time styling my hair without a mirror near the bed(hopefully it is fixed by now). Oh and one more thing Ken, it would be really helpful if you can put one more roll away bed or a convertible bed/couch, just in case people like me with a child want to enjoy your suite. We wanted to extend our stay for one more night, but unfortunately it was not available. Also, it was nice of Heather and Ken to show their home to us. All in all we had a great stay and Sedona is so beautiful and different that I recommended this to all my friends.

Owner response:Dear Padma, It was a pleasure to have you and your family stay with us. We are so pleased to know that we were able to make your stay so enjoyable. Thank you for our kind words. I am sorry the outlet was not working in the bathroom when you were here. It has been repaired. Thank you for letting me know. Unfortunately, there is not space in our suites for a convertible bed/couch, however, we do have a queens sized aerobed for the rooms now and we are looking into getting a roll away bed too. Thank you for the recommendation. Please come back soon. Ken

Best place to stay and best hosts in Sedona

Guest: Curt and Lauren (San Antonio, TX USA)
Date of Stay: 08/21/10 Review Submitted: 10/17/10

My husband and I stayed in Pyramid Suite for 12 days. This is by far the best place to stay in Sedona, AZ...the suite was even nicer than the casitas at Enchantment Resort and a much better value! Sedona Suite is a five star stay! The owners are gracious and very helpful: maps & guidebooks to borrow, tips on driving/dining/shopping/hiking/and more - all recommendations were spot on. Restaurants were only 10 minutes away - we especially enjoyed the Avocado Delish at Piccazo's Pizza, the wonderful desserts & Carrot Ginger soup at Chocolatree Cafe, the duck at Rene's at Tlaquepaque and the views from Yavapai Restaurant at Enchantment Resort. Our hikes at Boynton, Cathedral, Bell and West Fork were all unique and spectacular! Sedona Suite is within easy walking distance of Oak Creek for the famous sunset on Cathedral Rock. Many mornings and evenings we saw quail crossing the road around the corner from the suite. The home is an ecological treasure and I look forward to our next visit - I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else in Sedona.

Sedona Solitude

There are many ways to describe what you will find when you stay at Sedona Suites; Amazing views, great location, excellent accomodations and unsurpassed hospitality all come to mind. And they are all spot on. There are beautiful hikes/walks right outside your door. You are an easy 5-10 minute drive to all of the activity the city of Sedona has to offer but you have the solitude and serenity of the country. And perhaps best of all, Ken and Heather are so friendly and willing to share their love of the area with you. Without a doubt, we will stay here again in the future. Thanks Heather and Ken, Phil & Stephanie

Sedona Suites review

Our family of 3 stayed at the cathedral suite during the recent July 4th weekend. The suite is fantastic in terms of location, decor and amenities provided. Ken took the time to give us useful tips on places to visit and eat. This place is located very close to oak creek which is a plus. The drive to town takes 10minutes which is nothing considering you have drive with great views of red rock country. I strongly recommend this place to anyone that is visiting Sedona and wants to stay away from the beaten path. We will go back to Sedona Suites on our next visit.

Wonderful location, hosts, and accommodations

Everything about our trip to Sedona was great, starting with our arrival to the suite and being greeted by Ken, who gave us all sorts of good information about the area - short hikes, places to eat, and places to go on our day trips (70% of which we used, 30% of which we would have loved to, but we got worn out from all the adventure seeking). He was a big help in weeding out the best places to go, as was a drawer full of brochures, magazines, etc. from the area. The drive back to this location is stunning. As we were driving down to it, my wife says 'We're staying HERE?,' because as we kept getting closer and closer the landscape got better and better. I think it's as scenic as the Grand Canyon was, maybe even more so. The suite itself (the Pyramid Suite) was wonderful too - being Easterners, we had no problem being up to watch the sunrise hitting Pyramid Rock over coffee. Totally worth it. Although I think Cathedral Rock is the prettier view of the two, you can get a good view of that one from the entranceway anyway. I'd do it again. I think this is the reason people come to Sedona, and I think this particular location is a traveler's dream... as long as you're looking to relax out in the woods, and not necessarily be in the touristy and busier section of town.

What More Do You Need?

If your're visiting the Sedona area, I would definately recommend staying at Sedona Suite. Ken was very welcoming (we didn't have the opportunity to meet Heather)! Ken took the time to sit with us - giving us tips on hiking, dining and shopping. It saved us so much time. He even answered phone questions while we were on the road! The suite has everything you need - if you forgot something or need something - ask! The suite is exactly as described, the view is amazing and just a short walk to Cathedral Rock - don't forget your camera!! Thanks again for the hospitality!! I can't wait to come back!

Our stay at Sedona Suites was absolutely wonderful. Ken, Heather, Buddy and the bird life added to our stay. The beds are super, the quiet welcomed and the room was super cozy, private and comfy. We can't wait until we return.

We had a great time during our stay at Sedona Suite. We had occasion to stay in both rooms, and both were wonderful: clean, warm, comfortable, and with some nice outdoor space to have coffee or lunch. The owners really pay attention to the details here, and they provide lots of the little things--trail books in the dresser drawer, snacks in the cupboard, organic soap in the bathroom--that make the stay more relaxing for guests. The proprietors are friendly and knowledgeable, and generous with their time. They helped us quickly get situated on our first trip to Sedona, and pointed us in all the right directions when it came to restaurant suggestions, hiking trails, and a day trip up to the Grand Canyon. And if you're interested in ecology, engineering, or sustainability, just ask for a tour of the grounds--you'll definitely learn a thing or two! A great location, great accomodations, great value, and wonderful hosts. We will definitely be back in Sedona, and hopefully we'll be staying here again, with Ken and Heather!

This was our third stay with Ken and Heather (and first with Buddy), and we'll be back many times in the future. You simply cannot go wrong booking into Sedona Suite, a truly tranquil retreat in one of the most glorious settings possible. Walking distance to a half-dozen excellent hiking trails. A bonafide 5 on 5 !!

Comment Text: My husband and I stayed in the Pyramid Suite in January. Although the weather was less than wonderful we truly enjoyed our stay in Sedona. Ken and Heather's spot is perfect, off the beaten track, quiet, surrounded by beauty, welcoming, spotless and very comfortable. They have thought of everything to keep one happy--coffee, teas, snacks....We would go back in a minute.

Quiet Retreat

A very special place for those loving peace and quiet with the added bonus of water(Oak Creek)close by which isn't easy in Arizona! Ken was a generous host with his time and energy and will offer you as much or as little time as you require of him. He even helped my wife earn college credit with his ecological balanced home tour! One early morning I got the privilege of seeing a javelina walk across the road. Close enough to everything and at the same time far enough away from the traffic to offer a peaceful retreat. Highly recommended by John and Bev

Wendy, my fiancee & I stayed here in mid May of this year. We stayed in the Pyramid Suite, and all we can say is... When can we go back! The home of Ken and Heather is beautiful. We unfortunately did not get the opportunity to meet Heather, but Ken was great. The room was immaculate, and near by everything worth seeing in Sedona, but off the main drag so it was quiet and relaxing with amazing views. We can not wait to find another opportunity to visit again, as we highly recommend the Sedona Suites.

My husband and I spent 4 nights here starting on March 30th 2009. We had not been to Sedona for about 30 years and were amazed how much it had grown. Thankfully, we stayed at the Sedona Suites, which were outside of town. The suite we had, Cathedral Suite, was immaculate and like new. We also enjoyed the little extras, like our free organic oatmeal, popcorn for the microwave, and snack bars. We also found more perks in the bathroom; organic shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Ken and Heather have thought of everything. They even provided a free "Red Rock Pass" to carry in our car...these are required to even park off the road to take pictures, and gain you free entrance to the parks...a very nice perk indeed. What really made this stay so special was simple...location,location, location. We were within walking distance of oak creek, and Crescent Moon Ranch where you could watch the sunset on Cathedral Rock; what an amazing sight! The beauty of this area and it's serene nature is incredible. Even though we were out of the rat race, we were still able to drive to nearby restaurants etc. within 10 minutes. Ken's suggestions were all great; we especially enjoyed Picazzo's...best pizzas and wonderful salads. Overall we would rate our stay as an A+....we highly recommend Sedona Suites.

Just returned to the California Bay Area after a wonderful weekend spent in a perfect setting. What a bonus to have not only a comfortable, quite, beautifully decorated, and clean room, but also a couple who do all they can to ensure you visit to Sedona is everything you want it to be. From great restuarant choices, to tips on how to get a lawn as lush and green as theirs! I felt so much like a member of their family, that I may need to send them a Christmas card! The location allows an easy 4-5 minute walk to the Oak Creek Park which has views of Cathedral Rock, trails, picnic areas and is claimed to be the spot from which the rocks are most photographed. At the end of a day touring in and around uptown Sedona, it was a pleasure to return back to the peace and quite of this great find!

Even in awe-inspiring Sedona, Red Rock Crossing is a rare and precious experience. Much the same can be said for the lodging accommodation and hospitality provided by Ken and Heather, whose lovely and private guest room is in very short walking distance of this truly grand part of God's country. Very special!
