Why Hali'i Kai: The 1500AD lava flow from Muana Loa volcano, named Kaniku, covered 31 miles of land right up to the ocean. Hawaiian tradition states Kaniku was a guardian spirit of a fish pond that once existed here. The Big Island spirit is very much alive and can be felt when you are here. Hali'i Kai means 'spreading out to the sea' and when you see this beautiful community, you'll know why. Located on the sunny Kohala coastline of Hawaii, and only 16 miles from Kona International Airport, lies the world renowned WAIKOLOA Beach Resort. This immaculately landscaped resort offers guests an abundance of amenities including luxury golf courses, two world class resort/spas - Hilton & Marriott, fine dining, shopping, speciality boutiques, grocery stores and a host of water recreation. Hali'i Kai has received rave reviews and is rated by TripAdvisor as the number one community on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is only 5 minutes to the Hilton Waikoloa Hotel and it's many amenities. It also offers easy access to a variety of island adventures such as Whale Watching ( in season) helicopter tours to the active volcano, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, boat tours, golf and a special chance to swim with the Dolphins. You can also visit coffee plantations, Hilo rain forests and the world's largest observatory. These are just a few of the many activities you can explore when you enjoy an unforgettable luxury vacation experience. The Unique Benefits at this Condo: The gated community of Hali'i Kai, 'the jewel' of the Big Island real estate some would say, is where we call home and lies within the heart of Waikoloa Beach Resort, right on the ocean. There are a number of interesting stores at both the King’s and Queen’s shops which are a 1 min drive from Hali’i Kai or a 15 min walk. Turn right outside the main gate and the Kings shops are on the left, just past the waterfalls/lagoon and the Queens shops are kitty corner on the right. There is a terrific hole-in-the-wall” Fish & Chip shop (if you like that kind of thing..) on the lagoon side of the Kings shops. The fish is very fresh and costs about $10 for 3 pieces of fish with fries. You will find excellent clothes bargains in Macy’s.
IF you leave Waikoloa Beach Resort and turn left onto the highway you will find the Manu Lani shops about 1.5 miles to the north. Turn left at the Manu Lani sign and you will find the shops at the first roundabout.
The Hilton Hotel, across the golf course, is a fabulous 5 star hotel that can be utilized for your pleasure. It is open to the public to walk around and to enjoy some of the facilities. i.e. bars, restaurants, coffee shops and water activities and a buffet breakfast bar. There is also a spa and a hairdresser on site. The Hilton can be accessed by taking the lava path by the Hali’I Kai club house and around the perimeter of the golf course, or you can take the short cut over the lava rock, to the left of our Lanai (slightly left of the large palm tree on the left) over the golf course and into the hotel (watch for flying golf balls!!!)
