This was our 5th visit to Kayak & Cabin! Stephanie and Tim are great hosts, everything is perfect for us there. It is so peaceful and relaxing, we wish we could stay forever! We never even turn the TV on while we are there. We spend most of our time fishing, crabbing and just enjoying our time together. My children ages 11 and 7 love it also, as well as my parents. My husband counts down the days until our next visit!

Very rustic cabin. Stayed for two nights and went to Bulls Island, enjoyed the entire visit. Owners were very friendly and helpful.

We happened across this cabin by accident and we are sure glad we did. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. One of the owners came out and welcomed us and allowed our 3 boys ages 9, 7, & 2 to go help her feed the goats a bottle. They absolutely loved that! Their dogs were as sweet as pie and the boys enjoyed feeding them their leftovers. She even had the space heaters on for us in the bedrooms so they were nice and warm. Our first evening we unloaded all of our stuff, started the wood burning stove on the porch, lit the charcoal grill, and went to look around and check everything out. The paddle boats and kayaks were so much fun. I think we enjoyed them as much as the kids did. We brought our Jon Boat and the guys immediately put in the boat and took to fishing Saturday morning. They had a great day of fishing on the water. We had some friends come midday on Saturday. We enjoyed lunch and wine with them, more fishing of course, and later oysters and pickled shrimp under the pavilion. It was a beautiful fun family day. We and our children will remember this trip for a long time. It was better than Carnival Cruise Line! Sunday morning we got up at 7:30. I cooked the guys some breakfast and they headed out to get more trout. My two year old and I stayed behind to clean up breakfast dishes and sweep a bit. After cleaning up we put on our life jackets and hoped in the creek on the kayak to find the rest of the family. When we caught up to them they had a pile of trout in the boat and more just kept on biting. Many of them were too small to keep but catching them was just as much fun!! Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful family vacation. We can’t wait to come back again!!!!

We are always on the hunt for old cabins to stay in....it is getting harder and harder to find them. This adorable 1920's cabin is just the kind of place we like-rustic and quaint. We were even more excited when we met the owner and heard the story about the cabin and it's history with his family. We had planned on going out the first night, but settled into the chairs on the peninsula and were so relaxed we never left that night...when we did venture out there was so much to see in the area-Bull Island and the Seewee Restaurant were highlights. If you are seeking quiet time, a little kayaking or canoeing, and a true cabin experience, this is just the place.

The owners were VERY nice people...nice as nice could be. But some of the ammenities listed are probably a little bit off. For instance, the satellite TV with HBO, etc...is about a 13" portable TV that had major issues as far as getting any kind of picture...and it was in the bedroom without the air conditioner, so very hot as well. The wall unit air conditioner, when we arrived, was "frozen". The owner nicely offered to give us a $50 discount for it, but we were able to get it to work part time and told them that we would pay the full amount. But a couple of days it was not working. The shower outside around the back of the cabin had spiders, webs, some hair from a previous user and a coccoon (moth?) in it. We were not expecting club med, but the least that could have been done was to have the shower cleaned before someone came. Towels and wash cloths were also VERY old/worn down and discolored (bleach?)...certainly need to be updated. The other MAJOR issue we had was palmetto bugs (i.e., very large roaches). The first night, I had to chase and kill three of them in the bedroom...right while we were trying to go to sleep...and we had NO food out that would have attracted them (this was about four hours after we had arrived). And we saw many of them in the 'kitchen' on the front porch. It made it very uncomfortable in regards to try and just relax and enjoy ourselves...to the point where we actually left a day early.

Owner response: We have worked hard for seven years, have books of great reviews and would have been more than happy to address any concerns.

My husband, myself and my parents and the dog jingles all had a wonderful time. It was a week of total relaxation. We enjoyed talking with Jim so much. Went and saw his collection at the museum. Jingles didn't know what to think about the funny looking dogs (the goats) We were surprised at how many things were provided for our stay. We slept like little fat babies. Hope to return on our 2 year anniversary and bring the whole family.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple nights and had a great time. We went kayaking in the creek, crabbing, fishing, and just relaxed. There are plenty of other things in the area including several hiking trails. The Seewee restaurant was an excellent place to grab supper. Try the shecrab soup. The owners were nothing but accommodating. I highly recommend the kayak cabin!

I absolutely loved this place. Its exactly as the description states. We were able to kayak, shrimp, crab, and fish right in the backyard. Yes they do have dogs but we heard no barking and they were very friendly ( this but coming from a person who detests dogs), yes there were bugs but it was to be expected. The people are extremely friendly and really gave an effort to stay out of our way. The only thing i did not like about the place was that we had to leave a night earlier than we expected. I highly recommend this for people who enjoy the outdoors, might not be the place for you if you are high maintenance. Again, this place was wonderful!!
