An 1882 Victorian home lovingly restored by the owners. This Victorian getaway offers the best of old and new; exquisite wood work, antique furnishings, large claw footed tub, fully equipped contemporary kitchen, laundry facilities and breathtaking views from a fenced in yard. The house sleeps four to seven people and is the perfect retreat for couples and families.
Take in the majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains by foot, by 4WD jeep or just from the front porch. Stroll along the Uncompahgre River in the rural Colorado countryside and then relax at the end of the day in the natural hot springs that abound in the area, all amidst the most beautiful area in North America.
Every season in Ouray has something to offer, however the fall seems to be a well kept secret. The Aspens and Oak brush fall color change set amidst the Colorado Rockies with dotted timber building remnants of the mining days of this area, make this time of year a spectacular visual feast for travelers that are looking for undiscovered travel delights.
Ouray is just 45 minutes drive from Telluride, offering access to the same San Juan Mountains that the famous Telluride is nestled in. Our rates offer the best accommodation value in Ouray or Telluride.

This is our second year in a row in Ouray. We found Cartier house on VRBO and stayed there this year. The house is absolutely amazing. Very nice, beautifully restored, well equiped and in the perfect location, a walk from asbolutely everything in town. We walked to the stores, restaurants and to the hotsprings. We were a party of six (two children, 3 and 9 year old) and we had a fabulous time. Deer would visit it almost daily. Humming birds were there all the time. A local cat would come and play with our kids in the evenings. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the place. We would love to return to Ouray soon, and we would love to stay at Cartier House again. Thanks for allowing us to spend a week in Cartier House.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our family of 6 spent 4 great days in Ouray at the Cartier House. Ouray is a jewel in Colorado's crown. We enjoyed a jeep tour; a family hike up Twin Peaks (an all day but worthwhile adventure); the new Ouray Perimeter Hike; a day at the hot springs; the Ouray Brewery; and a fine Costa Rican restaurant in Ridgeway. We also enjoyed an easy day trip to Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP (only about 75 minutes away). Cartier House has everything you need, including good wi-fi. Our family of four stayed in this wonderful Victorian home. The photos on the website do not do the house justice. It is clean, well crafted and has plenty of room to spread out. The fenced side yard was perfect for our young children to run and play in. The house has gates at the top and bottom of the stairs for the safety of your young ones. It is just off Main Street for quick access to the grocery store and shopping. The hot springs are a 5 minute walk. The house has unique touches such as the swing in the front bay window. Perfect for enjoying the views of Ouray, or watching the snow fall in the winter. The entire property is clean and well maintained. The Owners made the reservation process simple and quick, They were very responsive with all of our questions. We have rented quite a few homes off of VRBO and this is one of our best experiences. You will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
