I have been to Homer twice on vacation and have stayed at the Seagrass Summer House both times. The house sits on the bluff overlooking Kachemak Bay with beautiful views of the mountains and glaciers beyond. The house is beautifully furnished and very relaxing. The owners are incredibly nice and accommodating. I highly recommend the Seagrass House.
Owner response:We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Thank you, Maureen

I have had the pleasure to stay at Seagrass Summer House for many years. The location is amazing with views of Kachemak Bay, mountains and glaciers from every window. With two large suites and a wonderfully furnished living area, there is plenty of room for privacy. Each bedroom has a private deck which is nice to get away and read or simply enjoy the beauty of K Bay. The kitchen has great utensils, cookware and incidentals for cooking ,if desired. The beds are amazing, making for peaceful sleep and relaxation. This impeccable VRBO property has exceeded my expectations every time I have had the pleasure to stay there. The owners are on site if you need anything--local suggestions, etc--but have a private entrance and are never present. I recommend Seagrass House to all my friends when they are heading to Homer.

We loved your house-everything was perfect. It was so clean and comfortable! The location and view were wonderful. We had luck halibut fishing despite some windy weather. Great dinners at Fat Olives, The Saltry and Wasabi! We come to Homer every summer and this is the nicest place we have ever stayed.

Where else can I look out on such a beautiful view of Katchmak Bay and the mountains across with Glaciers to the bay and in such comfort. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and equipment for our use as we like to cook all our meals with of coarse the fresh halibut right off the boat. There is a large dining table but we often sat at the ample bar seating to eagle watch as much as possible. Which leads me to the expansive windows and view from the living room, makes you feel like you're right on the edge of the yard leading to the wetland below. I did see a mother moose with her baby one day just walking on across the slope, close enough for me. We liked the layout of the bedrooms and baths as they are at opposite ends of the house with the living area in between, this arrangement made for very quiet sleeping and private for two couples. The linens etc. were far beyond the normal cush and robes too. And talking of cush the beds are really luxurious. The location is perfect for walking the Spit and beaches all the way to town and beyond just remember it can be cold so layer up, it's Alaska!!

This is a beautifully decorated and laid out house with awesome views of mountains, and glaciers. It has everything you would need and want in a house rental. Our problems were in things that were not told to you in the listing. First, the owners live on site. In fact they live right below you. What you rent is the top floor. The picture of the grass yard...is actually their yard. And they post a sign in the kitchen that they expect quite at 10:00 pm. The picture of the beach...well you have to walk out around a hwy to the Spit and then down the beach to the front of the house, because the steps to the beach from the house are not available. And the owners told us he didn't advise walking on the beach in front of the house anyways. And the washer and dryer is listed as an amenity in the house, but then there is a sign that the first load is free..after that it is $5.00 a load. The owners seemed nice enough, but the feeling that we got from them was that their expectations were that you would be out all day and evening and would use their house more to "just sleep". They made a point of offering all the places to eat and making you feel that eating out was a better idea then cooking in their house. Other then that their linen, beds, furniture and such was top notch, they just made you feel like they really didn't want you using it much!
Owner response:I do appreciate all reviews and am so sorry these clients felt uncomfortable. Most guest ask recommendations for great restaurants in town and this was the first in the entire 5 years we've been established and hopefully last unhappy guest. Owner/SeagrassHouse
