Location: White Sulphur Springs, Montana, USA (35 miles SE of White Sulpher Springs; 1.5 hrs to Bozeman)
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath (Sleeps 6-7)
Whether you want plain solitude or diverse summer recreation the Rhynard Ranch is the place for you.
Rising to 8500 feet, the Castle Mountains project the impressive rock turrets that prompted their name. They hold a well-hidden glacial lake teeming with cutthroat trout, creeks full of brook trout, and abundant wildlife; including elk, deer, moose, black bears, mountain lions, antelope, grouse, marmots, beaver, badgers, martens, gophers, coyotes, eagles, hawks, owls, and more.
From the cabin, you’ll hike, hunt, camp, watch birds, photograph wildlife, or fish - all on your own. Or, if you’re into pure relaxation, sit on the front porch and read or write a book, sketch or paint, soak in the scenery, or watch the wildlife that passes by and above.
The remnants of the silver-mining ghost town of Castle lie one and a half miles from the ranch. The ranch and surrounding area nurture the headwaters of the Musselshell and Smith Rivers; stands of Aspen, Douglas Fir, and Lodgepole Pine; and lush meadows, brightened by wildflowers - all crowned by limitless blue sky and starry nights. At the ranch, you know you’re alone and love every second of it.
First settled in the 1880’s, and still a working cattle ranch, the Rhynard Ranch sits high in the rugged Castle Mountains of Central Montana. With 3000 acres of private land and thousands of acres of adjoining National Forest, the Ranch offers a sublime opportunity for Hunting, recreation, and relaxation. Your headquarters will be a luxurious, fully modernized, 105-year-old homestead cabin - located a secluded half-mile from the main ranch.
The 1000 square-foot cabin includes two bedrooms (sleeps seven), a full bathroom, and a mudroom. The living room, dining bar, and kitchen combine to make a great room, which has a glass-front wood burning stove (firewood provided) and very comfortable couch and chairs. The structure is heated by baseboard electric heat, as well as a wood-burning stove. A natural underground spring provides water to the cabin, as well as to a frost-free hydrant in the yard. Local phone service is provided and long distance service may be accessed by calling card. There is currently no cellular phone service in the area. The cabin also has a large, covered front porch, with chairs, as well as a small, covered back porch that leads into the mudroom. All perimeter walls are natural log (most 106+ years old).
Two hours from Yellowstone Park, and four hours from Glacier Park. Numerous lakes and rivers within 1.5 hours.
