This listing is a two-block walk to the trolley and a 10-minute drive to famous San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park, the Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center and Hillcrest, the bustling commercial sector of a popular San Diego neighborhood.
This large two bedroom apartment is also a 5-minute drive to the airport. (There is some airport noise, but all windows and doors have been soundproofed and San Diego Airport closes operations at 11:30 p.m., resuming at 6:30 a.m.)
The surrounding neighborhood is quiet and upscale, with a fabulous view. The area is known as Mission Hills, West Banker’s Hill or Middletown, and is a mix of condominiums and privately owned homes. Access is on a cul de sac off a dead-end street. The location provides a sense of seclusion and privacy from the city beyond.
I live nearby, so will interact with visitors as much or as little as they like. I am available to provide directions and assistance. Just ask for ideas about where to go for fun, food, and entertainment. You might enjoy anything from Trivial Pursuit night in local pubs to the summer Friday night concerts in city parks, or numerous neighborhood farmer’s markets. A Survival Kit is also provided for guests, which includes maps, directions, brochures and helpful hints to inform your stay.

About the owner: I grew up in New Mexico and Colorado and recieved my PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. As a historian and author I take advantage of B&Bs and vacation rentals wherever and whenever I travel. Travel, writing, and meeting people from different backgrounds are my very favorite things to do. When I travel I like being on my own, free to make up my schedule as I go, with adventure and discovery waiting around every corner.
I moved to San Diego over thirty years ago. Since then the area has morphed from a relatively small, sleepy city into a vibrant urban center I love to explore. Even though I’ve enjoyed each one of the destinations in which I’ve lived, both abroad and in the States, I always return to San Diego glad that it’s home. The location of my property still excites me.
I’m an avid reader - spy novels in particular. I love John Le Carre. One of my great regrets is studying many languages without becoming fluent in any. I'm a jazz and classical music fan but also a child of the 60's. Movies? I love too many to name, especially Czech, Russian, French and Italian films. “To Kill A Mockingbird” tops my list.
