Excellent Private Getaway

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and couldn't have been happier. We tried to find a place that was off the beaten (tourist) path and this was perfect. Quiet, private, comfortable, great location (a few minuets drive to Wialea/Kihea and our favorite hangout: Big Beach) and very well maintained. Definitely a great place to stay if you're looking to avoid hotels/condos.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary in March 2010 by taking a vacation to Maui. We booked this place on line for 10 days. We live on acreage and like the country life more than a resort hotel room. All in all we had a great time. The Gazebo was well equipped and everything was clean and fresh. Other than the much enjoyed early AM bird life you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet and peaceful. The property has all kinds of interesting mature trees and we enjoyed snitching a variety of fruit. My wife became good friends with a couple of chickens who shared leftover continental breakfast each morning. If you are a gardener you will go a little crazy here looking at all the potential projects as the property is in an overgrown state and needs some TLC. I have no hesitation recommending this place to others who want to get away from the hotel / motel scene.

Quaint property yet kinda far from shops and beaches. The property was excessively overgrown and not mantained and you had to fight for parking with the 4 other houses on the property. It was in a quiet neighborhood but don't turn the stereo up past two on the dial or the ON SITE owner will be watching you and patrolling your every action. There were a lack of dishes and we are "buy groceries and eat at our place" type of people. Buy your own toilet paper and paper towels because they are not located at this property. When we checked out we left two dishes and three coffee cups in the sink and received an extremely rude email from the owner. If you like traveling with your overly watchful mother this is the place for you! We felt like we had no privacy due to all of the people and the owner always out in front of the property.
Owner response:This man had only nice things to say upon leaving. When I went in to clean I found a sink full of dishes and a glass of milkshake next to the bed and I just really got angry and wrote him a nasty letter telling him this doesn't happen, only one time when I rented to a single guy. It only shows disrespect for the owner. People really love this gazebo and geneerally leave it nice and clean, showing respect and gratitude. This is why I do not require a cleaning deposit. There was chocolate on the sheets and a huge pile of laundry, the entire weeks worth left behind. I do say to leave the laundry in a basket but I don't mean the entirer weeks worth. I did rewrite the House Rules in their honor. 'Please do not leave dishes in the sink'. It was a sink full, not a couple glasses. and I either forgot to put the tp in the linen closet or they didn't see it behind the beach towels. she had her music way to high for 7:30 am. It woke me up. They also left their garbage out, stacked in a corner, mixed in with the recycle. . I'm over it, and them.

Lovely cottage, quaint, tropical surroundings. Description totally accurate, including "car needed". Reasonably priced. Owner friendly, accommodating, honest and fair. Highly recommend to friends wishing to relax, but no activities/attractions in easy walking distance. All tourist attractions readily available through 'downtown' Kihei vendors, with wide variety of restaurants, shops, beaches. Book early.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway.
