The First Street Guesthouse is a unique blend of old and new. Starting with an historic, log cabin that was part of Crested Butte's original Creamery, the home has been architecturally enhanced, with the main part completely new. During construction and renovation, the use of non-toxic, natural building components has earned the home many prestigious awards.
Located just steps from Elk Avenue, (Crested Butte's historic main street). The First Street Guesthouse sits tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood. The downstairs opens onto a large entry area and three bedrooms, two with queen-size beds and access to exterior patios. The third bedroom has a twin/trundle bed. All boast cozy goosedown comforters. The large bathroom on this level offers a sumptuous, deep, Japanese, jetted, soak tub and oversize marble steam shower. Nearby is a handy washer and dryer.
The upper level, with it's breathtaking views of mountains in all directions, has a gourmet kitchen with soapstone counter tops and stainless appliances. It flows openly into an eating/gathering bar, dining and living areas, all surrounded by vaulted ceilings. Also on this level are a one-half bath and cozy den with futon for overflow sleeping space.
Outside, there is a lovely, fully-fenced and gated yard ideal for children and even a canine friend. Inside and out, the home is meticulously maintained and offers more than just a homey, comfortable vacation setting. Its owners, 15 year residents of Crested Butte, work hard to ensure its guests a most memorable stay.
Elk Avenue's shops and restaurants are close by. The town's free mountain bus shuttle is little more then a block away. Hiking and Nordic trails are even closer! Because of First Street Guesthouse's ideal location, a car is not required; everything is within easy walking distance, regardless of the season.

My family had a wonderful long weekend at the First Street Guesthouse in Crested Butte. We have been to CB many times and this was our favorite place we have stayed. The house was cozy, clean and VERY convenient to Elk Avenue (main street in town). We didn't use our car all weekend. We enjoyed biking and walking and the unbeatable scenery. The nearby restaurant Secret Stash is one of our favorites for pizza. We also enjoyed Izzy's and Camp 4 Coffee for breakfast. The owner/property manager was very helpful and generous. We can't wait for our next trip.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

I had the pleasure of living in the First Street Guest House for almost three months in the fall of '07. Most of the time, I was there solo. I couldn't have felt more comfortable. The house is well appointed and cozy, capable of sleeping 7 people. In fact, family and friends joined me for Thanksgiving, filling all of the bedrooms. The open living space has ample room for seating. There also is a den which has a TV with cable and a DVD player, along with a large desk. Wireless internet, the Japanese tub, and the spacious, easy to work in kitchen added to the enjoyability. The kitchen and bathroom are updated and state of the art. Best of all is the location, right in the heart of town. I walked everywhere. If you choose the First Street Guest House, you will be in for a treat. Enjoy! We stayed in September in hopes of seeing the Aspens, but were 10 days early, according to locals. This place is absolutely perfect! I can't say it strongly enough. The location is so close to everything, but not noisy from everything, which is great if you have young children trying to sleep. The accommodations are very nice and there is nothing bad to say at all about any aspect of this house. I'd love to buy it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our family of 4 had the most wonderful experience in Crested Butte. The town is charming, the people are friendly, and the skiing was terrific. Staying at the First Street Guest House was the icing on the cake. The home is just beautiful with great attention to detail. I am a very picky traveler, and the house is immaculate and well appointed. When we travel to Crested Butte again, a stay at this home will be our highest priority. You can walk to everything from the home and I think the description in VBRO is understated. Our hats off to the owners!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

From the moment we walked into the 1st Street Guest House we felt at home. The owners have a real "Gem" here and it shows! From the post and beamed ceilings to the warm pine flooring the house radiates warmth:) The decor is top notch and very comfortable. Lots of natural light but just enough shaddy places to feel cozy! We loved staying in this house....we stayed for a long time and never tired of the houses awesome floorplan. The "office" was extra nice and super useful. Did I mention we walked everywhere!....just off Elk Street....everything was a hop and a skip away. We will be back:)Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
